Surrendering Sunday

Several of the SHEs are facing difficult times right now.

We don't always have to fight our environment, our situations, or our feelings.

There are times we can do a strategic surrender, take a pause, and then rebuild later, possibly stronger.

During that strategic surrender, remember fresh air, nature, sunlight, moonlight, are all excellent ways to refill after washing away feelings with tears.

I didn't get to be anywhere close to on-time last night. It was midnight when the light finally went out.

I did have quiet Christmas music on while I got ready for bed and then a Just Sleep story that I obviously fell asleep to very early on because I remember none of it. I had remembered to turn off my 6:30 alarm but my Do Not Disturb on my phone ends at 7 and dh is 13 hours ahead of me so emails he sent during his day came through as notifications on my smart watch at 7.

I need to leave for church in 25 minutes, tops, and am still here undressed, but the bed is made, tea and chocolate and light therapy and vitamins are consumed and I don't eat breakfast until noon most days so I can blow out the door and not be late for church.

Morning…

Getting ready to go to my brothers house for the Giants football game and to meet my new to me grand nephew who is a little over a year old.

All the packing is done and the movers will be here tomorrow. Have to say than when I started packing up my moms pots and pans I started to get overwhelmed and cried a bit… it was mixed with much laughter as I told Sweetie that none of my moms other effects, including her much loved clothes and things did that to me. It was the first time of shedding tears. Didn’t even happen at her memorial.

Told Sweetie we needed to leave the pots and pans alone and we went for a much needed time out and walk. Laughed much of the walk as to how those pots and pans got to me. Who would have guessed that given all I’ve been doing these last three weeks.

I'm in a post-portfolio slump, I can't say I want to do much of anything and that's about how much is being accomplished. I've offended dh and he was pretty put out with me yesterday. We were with friends at their house for the afternoon into evening. Saw the new boat, got take out for dinner there, watched a little (very little) football.

I need to go upstairs and find more of the planner pages that lay out the days of the week in a column, with a column that I use as OMMs to the right. I don't feel I'm ready for the week until I've filled it out in the planner and listed some things for the week. On Friday we go to Townsend TN with friends who have a cabin there. We'll be there for the weekend with them and another couple.

When we get back from the weekend trip next Sunday, I only have four days to regroup to go to to NYC on Thursday. So it will be a busy two weeks coming up. I'll be glad to get through it and relax again, which is mostly what I'm capable of now.

Anyway, I need to get moving today. I didn't get to grocery yesterday and need to do that soon.

I think I may be one of the people Kathryn is thinking about. I need to just surrender to what is necessary for today and the week ahead. If the tree gets put up… if my mom laves the hospital and his home or to rehab… if my floors have a fit of dust… most of this week is out of my control and I just have to “be where my feet are.”

Twins, I am exactly the same about my planner!
Mine (the Prayerful Planner) has a blank column on the left and then the days of the week.
I’m going to use it in the new year for my main planner, and then the other one I bought, (the Passionate Penny Pincher) I may use basically as a reference book. I know I will never in a million years do all the daily housekeeping chores, (and I really don’t think they are all even necessary on a daily or weekly basis) but I want to just SEE how well it works— as a challenge, sort of.

Good news here — dmom is eating — clear liquids only — and her nasal tube, catheter, and oxygen are all removed. Still on IV, but DEFINITELY making progress! The nurse says she will likely be dismissed mid-week. PT should visit starting tomorrow and they should help her decide whether to go home or to rehab.

I need to go upstairs and see my uncle but I don’t want to miss the surgeon’s visit today so… I wait.

Glad your dmom is better, Lucylee. Yes, the doctor always turns up when you leave the room! And great minds think alike on our planning for the week!

Dh is going to the grocery for me.

I'm going to a funeral tomorrow a.m. at the temple cemetery. There's shiva tomorrow night at six and dh was wanting me to go to both the funeral and shiva but I told him I'd go to one or the other, not both. I wasn't close to this lady or her family. It's been a long road; the cemetery chairperson told me probably a year ago that she thought the next funeral we'd have was her, and she's hung on. It's awful to say that but she's been dying for so very long.

I went upstairs and got the preprinted planner page and am working on it now.

If dh goes to the grocery with me, I need to rewrite the list very carefully and specify. what and exactly how much I need. And even then, he might not get the right things. I wanted the canned roasted tomatoes and he read tomatoes as hummus. I was wondering why he bought a bunch of humus. And he got three containers of chicken broth when I wanted one, and two sweet potatoes when I actually specified one sweet potato. I really should have gone myself. He's gone back now and is somewhat good natured. At least he's not bored!

Waving. It snowed this morning, I was doing my journal bujo etc. and remembered they had online church for days just like this!

I found some summer squash I'd sliced thinly and froze added to some broth for my lunch with a roll yum!

God some more progress on my 2023 plans it is coming more slowly now.
I have another book to review and get notes from but waiting on that at least till afternoon.

Undated calendars are a blessing for some self care ideas, etc. life pie.
They have 10 categories. I do not use all of them. I will put more in my other thread.
Journey on..

I'm home and exhausted.

Church was lovely. I was happy to see that last weekend's crisis over the volume of the organ seems resolved and it wasn't too loud this week. The choir did a wonderful anthem as well and sounded good (not always a given!)

They were selling leftovers from the bazaar and since then I decided I should have bought a magic key (I thought dd's kids would be beyond that but they aren't.) It is a special key you hang on the front door if you don't have a chimney, with a note for Santa to return it for access next year. After church the lady in charge of that table came downstairs and found the last two they had. So I got one for ds's house as well.

From church I went to a local mall for large cup hooks, small command hooks, kosher salt and a couple of other dollar store items. I took my time and ate my breakfast (2 breakfast sandwiches) in the car before driving home because it was after 1 and I was exhausted. At 2 the grands started their skype call and I wasn't home yet so I joined in late.

So, technically, I haven't done a thing all day and I'm desperate for a nap.

I'm excited about getting the salt, I need it for 'snow' at the base of a hurricane vase that I'm filling with my precious ornaments and putting out, well out of dgs' reach.

DH and I went to church this morning and then out to eat at favorite Mexican restaurant. I messed up and did not get 250 steps in during one of those hours. That frustrated me to break the chain. I reached 40 hours before breaking it so now I start again at Hour #1.

DH and I had a very enjoyable 47 hour break from raising kids. We did a couple of projects together and just overall enjoyed our couple time. Although we enjoyed the break we were also glad when the kids came back from camp. Life is back to normal here. Our home is filled with noise, crumbs and dirty clothes.

I am tweaking my hourly plan for the upcoming week and adding location-based focus.

I start my new class tomorrow. I need to prep for it today.
