Sniffling Saturday

Anyone need a pity party?

Go ahead and sniffle a bit.

I'll pass out the tissues. When dgs1.75 had a miserable runny nose, I sprung for a box of thick tissues with lotion so my tissues are high quality, none of those cheap, rough, ones from the dollar store.

After your pity party, regroup and join the rest of us in accomplishing something either practical or soul repairing today.

In the meantime, we will all be holding Dee's hand as the day progresses, passing her tissues if she needs them.

Tree trimming day has been cancelled. I tested negative but dgd is all stuffed up and coughing, dgs is dragging and just lying around, dsil is coughing hard, and dd has stomach cramps (those are normal for her but she can't get off the couch right now and would need to spend an hour on transit, plus some walking to get here and then again to get home.)

So it is cancelled.

Part of me is raging because had it happened last week while they were all well, then it would not be missed today. Which is on dh. So he's looking for forgiveness and I don't have any to give right now.

The other part of me just gained 5 hours of time to prep for the party tomorrow. So there's a bit of elation.

d Kathryn - glad that you and others are able to have the building party. Isn't wonderful that others want to work together to have a gathering. It's about everyone enjoying each other - nothing fancy - just being able to chat again and spread joy!

hello all - enjoy the day!
d dee - thinking of you and dh!

Blessed: I was just thinking about having to eat all the sliced cheese I bought for last weekend's cancelled tree trimming, saved for today's now cancelled tree trimming. Then I realized I have cheese and crackers on my list of things to buy for the party tomorrow so it won't go to waste (or my waist!)

Good morning!

Kathryn - Thanks for the start today.

DS14 just discovered he has the day off. Yesterday after he got off his normal job then he worked at his 3rd part time job. That part-time job is helping hang Christmas lights on the roof of a home. He was thrilled to make $15 an hour doing that. It isn't the money that motivates him but the joy he gets from learning, working, and seeing the results. Bonus is the camaraderie of working with mentors and people he likes. Today he will be doing his weekly laundry and making progress to not have the messiest bedroom in the world.

Yesterday I missed one of my hourly step goals by ONE step. I was so frustrated when I dug deeply into the data and found I had taken 249 steps that hour. I usually look at my step count and mentally add 250 to it so I know how many steps I need to reach the hourly goal. But that method isn't reliable because it depends on me remembering a number each hour. So today I went looking for an easier way to keep track of how many steps I have taken every hour. I found the solution I was seeking. I'll put a link to it clockface in case anyone else has a FBit sense or versa and is interested in tracking this data. The developer even has a YouTube channelexplaining in detail each feature of this clockface. . I feel like I just received an early Christmas gift.

I lost a post - but it's okay - I worked through a lot of things regarding why I have been feeling the way I do re: Christmas.
I was going to ask you to send me the bill for a nice long therapy session that I had posted  I will say I feel so much better.
I am so glad I have all of you here bc even though I lost the post I feel like I worked out a lot of things (lol without you having to read it all).

I am so glad that I finally understand what has been going on. I am starting to feel the holiday spirit again.

I am ready to start working.

1. change and wash dd Youngers sheets
2. wrap the few presents that need wrapping
3. address the Christmas cards when they come in.
4. clean all the floors

waving at d lady!!!

I pre-ordered the book "The Swedish Art of Aging Exuberantly"
By: Margareta Magnusson - I really liked her other book.

dh made me smile yesterday. Our new neighbor is one year older than dh and walks rough bc he just went through two hip replacements before he and his wife moved here. Dh was telling me how much older our neighbor was than he. I asked him how old the man was -he is only 68! dh is 67 and I just turned 63 - who said that??? I couldn't help but laughing to myself bc dh was so serious. One year difference! oh my goodness; we all have our own perspective, don't we? :D

-laundry is washing and drying itself.
-dogs for some reason are sleeping
-I took care of phone calls to dear mom and d brother about mom and Christmas gatherings.
texted dd's about what mom needs when dd older gets there. (pedicure - buying herring for New Years - a long tradition even though we all (but dh) dislike herring, champagne for New Years eve and finding the silver dollar for New Years eve, and barnes and nob les for new calendars for mom to pick out)

pulled sheets and will wash them next

watching Shauna sever - re: her oatmeal cookies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah_qdXt7pGQ on the Illinois library program
