What are you thankful for today?
I am thankful for heat!
I have a working furnace and
two portable heaters going! LOL! Just because I can.
I also have on a sweater and poncho for fun.
It is a great time to get out your favorite boots and pick out fun winter type clothes that do not get used that much.
My dsis got her newer car this week.
Got the next two orders yesterday.
One more package coming hopefully today.
Something to look forward to.

I've been sitting here too long but will do a post and then get dressed.
First: glad Elizabeth will stand her ground and keep that stool. It isn't an aspirational item like the exercise machine we thought it was, taking up room she doesn't really have; it is far more important. I'd say it is a sentimental item as well as being useful.
Second: Twin's I hope your dh has a mild case and you don't get Covid. Good luck with that. As you know the guidance is very strict here. I have no idea when you guys can be 'free' but here it is basically 10 days (assuming symptoms are improving) before things return to normal. And that includes you being masked everywhere you are inside, since you've been exposed to your dh.
Today is singing for the seniors. We haven't practiced a thing. I can't get dh to do anything other than work. Our newsletter is still at the printers but we could have done cards and prepared the envelopes but he hasn't bothered to do that either. He just doesn't seem to care and I know I don't either.
Tomorrow will be a storm, and possibly Saturday as well. Saturday night I lead the church service in a rural church (40 minute drive on notoriously bad roads). I haven't opened mail for 10 days now so that's my focus this morning. I'm pretty sure I'll be paying late charges on bills.
Yesterday I worked on the chair repair email and then tidied the living room up, pushing the chair to one side and putting my old one back. That made me feel less upset over the chair (not a constant reminder.) My hair appointment was at one and I was still teary and resentful I had to go but I actually enjoyed it. This is a new place and a new hair stylist. She isn't talkative at all which actually worked well because I don't have to be social (unlike other places I've been.) I like the cut more this time than last (it is the same as last time but this time I had her do the bangs more straight across as opposed to a pronounced as arch.) What I like most about this place is the strict covid guidelines being followed so I feel safe there which is especially important at this time of year with so much going on. The shop was almost full, 6 of the 8 chairs were occupied this time. But everyone was masked so it didn't feel risky.
After had a snack in the car and then went over to dd's for a masked visit inside. I did puzzles with the kids and read to dgs. He cuddled while I read which was really nice. Dgd was the sicker one and dd is sick as well so she stayed away most of the time (and took a shower while we did the puzzles.)
Then I went to pick up the chafing dish fuel which I apparently had failed to properly order but so it wasn't waiting for a pickup but they had 6 in stock when I ordered and I found all 6 on the shelf so I know my order really didn't go through. It took 10 minutes to get through the Costco parking lot to the place where I could easily park but once there I was in and out in reasonable time despite the crowds. I got everything except the french bread.
Dinner was a Costco chicken, so although I was late getting home, it was quick to sit down to eat.
Wasted the evening except I took the time to repair a necklace I had broken on Sunday. Slept well but now I'm being lazy and need to get my day going!

I'm thankful that we have a home in which dh can isolate, and he has the ability to work from home. And thankful that we don't celebrate Christmas (although we did have activities planned) so we're not ruining a big family Christmas for others - or worse - infecting others. We were to go to temple for Hanukkah - dh as the chief Latke King - to make latkes for a big crowd. That's out. And going to dfriends on Saturday night for my birthday is out. I can do isolate a lot easier than he can, however.
Lucylee asked last night about me getting a break while he's sick - most of the time when he's on the phone in the house I can hear him. Sometimes he will drop his voice enough that it's more tolerable. And I'm not sending him upstairs to isolate and steppin' and fetchin' for him, like he did for me. And I'm not protecting against COVID myself - I've been boosted recently, had COVID six months ago and am going to isolate either way. (And it's not an inconvenience so much for me Ds won't come near us with COVID and dd is away (and we just saw her) and I'm kind of born to isolate.)
Last night I ordered out for us and picked it up when I went out to pick up his Pavloxid, which was ready. So he started it last night.
Thankful for friends, offers of matza ball soup. I actually have matza ball soup mix I can doctor up with additional chicken, broth and veggies.
I'm thankful that our house is warm with bitter cold coming in, even if dh is complaining about how cold his office is upstairs. (The upstairs hallway, where the thermostat is, gets heat from downstairs, so the hall can be warm and the bedrooms freezing.)
Today is isolating, not that different than planned actually. Perhaps the biggest downside is that I'm assuming dcleaning lady won't come. Told her it was okay to come and mask if she wanted but I'm assuming she doesn't. I have a card and bonus for her to pick up when she wants. (I'll probably also pay her for this week even if she doesn't come but I didn't tell her that.) I'm going to print my checklist from when I was doing the cleaning and will probably get started soon.
I need to mail cards today too. Some will be late.
We have so much to be thankful for.

I am thankful that Sweetie and I very seldom grumble at each other. Today was an exception. Sweetie made a poor pitiful remark about himself for me and I replied before thinking. My guess is he is having a difficult time doing something in his office that used to come easy to him and he took his frustration out with his remark. Should have recognized that before I answered, but didn’t. Hate it but am sure this I just more of the things to come.
All my boxes are empty and now am looking for homes for some of those things. In the meantime I am going to wrap Cmas presents so I can get them out of my way. It’s also laundry day around here so I need some “turn it up” music to get me going.
When the movers came to my home the drive knocked on the door so we could sign papers and get started. He had a very pronounced accent and although I thought I knew where he was from I asked. He is Russian. Heard the other guy talking and asked about where he was from and he told me his friend was from Ukraine.
Any body else find that interesting. Asked the driver how long he’d been in the states and he said one year. I asked if he liked it here and he said…yes, my English not good, Hate Putin, military is crazy. In Russia I am considered … couldn’t think of the English word so used his phone to translate the Russian word into English. Then he handed me the phone to read the word….
Traitor!!!
Wow … I got kind of emotional over it all because his best friend that works with him is Ukrainian! They both were really nice guys and when the truck pulled away Sweetie pointed out what was written on all sides of their truck in BIG letters….
Stop War!
He told me both of them were thankful to be in America!

I am thankful for having electricity!
The weather is having an influence on my day. 5 hours ago, a cold front hit here resulting in temperatures dropping 40 degrees in 2 hours. It also brought ice which was not predicted. Our ground is covered, black ice is on the roads resulting in many wrecks, but the worst is the electricity is already failing. In the past 2 hours we have lost power 4 times. The first 3 times the power came back on but the fourth time it didn't return. The electric lines are frozen and swinging/walking resulting in the lines breaking. We have a whole house generator, so it is just a momentary loss of electricity for us but most of the homes don't have generators. DSis and DBro both live in totally electric homes so they will be 100% relying on wood stoves to provide heat and keep their water lines from freezing. That means someone must be monitoring the wood stoves 24/7 to make sure they stay stocked with wood in full burning mode.
The plumbers called to reschedule their 1pm appt with us. This was a yearly maintenance appt that can easily be rescheduled for after the weather gets better.
DS14 went to work. He has work ethic of mailman. “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
I have completed the first 2 hourly step goals.

The chair people just asked for a video of the problem so after we were both dressed, I had dh take a video.
Back into their court.
I'm not happy with them right now because they wanted the s/n but it isn't on the chair. Except it is. There's a tiny tag on the back and if I get on my hands and knees and flip it over, there are numbers on the other side (but no s/n to let me know it is a serial number.) So, having found that after they sent a picture of the tag, without turning it over to show the number on the other side, I sent it to them. And noted it is the same number I already sent them from the outside of the box. And they wanted my address (even though it was part of the order) so I sent it, apartment number, street number and name, city, province, country, continent, and planet. Hopefully that is enough for them.
Back into their court.

dd's dog has to go to the vet this afternoon at 2:00 (hope the snow waits) bc he is limping.
I have to pick up dd older cookies for Christmas at noon and I have dh's appointment at 1. (again I hope the snow waits).
I would love to pick up the orchid for dd younger to give dd older but I worry the flowers will go kaput with the cold.
today or tomorrow morning I would like to make the gingerbread dough and bake those cookies.
my goal: don't overthink - praying I stay away from perfection thinking or the thinking I have to make Christmas a big show.

I agree - stop war - unfortunately there are always those who think that they can take over others - country to country, neighbors to neighbors and people to people. I have never understood why. My mom lived through the war as a child in Alsace - it wasn't good. There are bad people and good people on all sides. Their were good people who were stuck doing a job they didn't want to do but tried to show kindness and others that threw bombs into the wine caverns, in my mothers village, as they were being forced out by the Americans - they knew there were families in these caverns.
