Good Morning!

Twins - Thank you for the start today and the timely reminder.

I am not ready for the new month or new year, but I realize that it will arrive whether I am ready or not. Hopefully today i can get somethings done that will make the transition smoother.

I briefly considered staying in bed later this morning since I was up late with the kids. But I knew my sleep average is good (7.9 hours) and so missing a couple of hours of sleep wouldn't hurt me overall. The thrill & satisfaction of getting up early in a quiet house and spending solitary time in the garden was worth the loss of sleep.

One of the tiny habits I am working on establishing is being outside at sunrise and sunset. My goal is to walk 1000 steps while watching the beautiful display in the sky twice a day. I don't know how to put it into words but it is a simple reminder to me twice a day of the big picture so i don't get hype focused on the little things. In the morning I walk on the east side of our home which is in the garden watching the sunrise. In the evening I walk on west side of our home which has a circle drive that is easy to walk while watching the sky. It may sound like overkill to plan exactly when and where I will walk but it makes it super simple with no decisions needed. I am an expert at procrastinating and/or talking myself out of doing something even if it is something that I want to do. Will I be able to maintain this new habit consistently? Time will tell.

I was up early, dMillie had a vet appt at 8:30. She got all she shots (including flu, which is now recommended) and we got the Seresto collar and heartworm preventative. She does not like he front paws messed with - she needs a nail trim but it was not to be for today. We're to handle her paws to get her more tolerant. And we now have Tradazone for stressful events, like vet visits, or possibly fireworks or T storms if she's reactive to those. It will take the edge off the anxiety but not dope her up. Dh took her around the block this a.m. before he left for Torah study, and I just took her again to let her settle and relieve herself after vet visit.

I may go back to sleep, I usually allow myself to sleep in on Sat a.m., but was up at 7:15 to get to vet at 8:30. He's about 15 minutes away but I wasn't sure how she would take to getting in the car. Dh went to Torah study, and is going to his office after. He got a stressful email from a client last night (on his birthday, no less) and wanted to look at the account and contact him. It's not been a great year in the market, obviously.

So, breakfast and nap coming up.

LadyM, I was up late last night watching the Orange Bowl, which to my delight, Tennessee won!

Have started on the laundry, did my morning routines and then spent the last hour working on my own genealogy for the DAR. Am required to show documentations of my family dating back to the 1700's. I am having the most trouble with proving my mom, her mom and my fathers birth's I need records to show who their parents were. I am working with a gal from the DAR who helps members get certified so I know she is better at this than I am.

Need to clean Fred's home and start decluttering around the house. I worked on my closet this morning as well. Next up is getting a plan together to focus on my health. I'm not waiting till tomorrow to start on my eating plan LOL. We found a Chinese eating place close to home and I can order steamed veggies and chicken and Sweetie has always loved their food so that will become my fast food place.

My dinning room table is still covered with things needing new homes and I have already taken down all my Christmas things. Didn't put much up this year and I can tell the older I get the less excited I get about decorating for the season.

Keep it simple is my New Years Resolution.

So happy you enjoyed the game! Enjoy your genealogy research! No one in my family goes back that far - All came in 1910's and late 1940's. I find that time in history fascinating.

Happy New Year's Eve everybody. It's a warm day here and we've had some rain. Good start for the new year.

I've typed up the changes to my bookkeeping for the year and made a copy for us and a copy for the tax man. All my daily chores are done. I need to clean out the refrigerator.

That's it so far. Quiet day here. DH has the cold I had. Started yesterday. I am just about all better.

Twins, I seem to have missed the whole part about your procuring Millie. Fill me in, Please.

Everyone has left here. Dsonil to church and DD, DS-A, DDIL, DGSs 23 & 10 left to stop to see their Uncle -most likely for the final time. So I imagine it'll be difficult. Then they're going to C amping World toward Tampa so DS & crew can look at a motorhome they had come in yesterday. Can't imagine they're talking about buying one down here. They leave tomorrow morning around 6am from Orlando -DS, DDIL & DGS10. DGS23 will be driving their car back to NY, leaving tomorrow afternoon or early Monday morning. That's doubtful as I think he has to be to work Tuesday. They're all going on to Tampa after C World for DD's 'fun job'. The rest of them will all go to the Tampa game vs Arizona I think. Game's at 5. DD has to be there in the building by 3. So we'll all have a mini party when they get home tonight. That should be somewhere around 9 I think. We'll have some snacks and hit the hay way before 2023. Hopefully we'll get some sleep.

Last night Dh was up around 3 with his flashlight so of course I got up. Seems he'd knocked his glasses off the stand. We looked for almost an hour -in the chairs, under the chairs, behind the chairs, under the bed, across the room. Dh was lifting chairs forwards and backwards and I was trying to look under & around to no avail. DGS23 and I went in this morning. He lifted dh's recliner and there they were -under it. Just couldn't see them without daylight earlier.

I have to figure some way to get sleep. I did end up with a little over 5 hours last night but not enough. Most nights are anywhere from 2-4.5 hours. I know I can't keep going like this. Trying not to complain or get grouchy. Melatonin and most 'sleepy' meds keep me awake. I did sleep around 6/7 this morning because I never heard dh get up, shower and all that.

We need to go see his DB in a while, though dh is really feeling poorly. Hoping this new antibiotic will start to make a difference soon (if not sooner). He's in our bedroom snoozing right now. Figure we'll go to his DB's before too long -giving dks all time to be there and gone and Dbil time to rest before we go.

Trying to figure out some board housekeeping but my brain just isn't letting me at the moment. Perhaps later it'll be more 'with it'.

I don't know if anyone has ever used a grass seed spreader but my home feelings like I used a stuff spreader throughout our first floor. I haven't had the house like this for years and years.

dd younger left last night and is happy to be back in Florida even though she enjoyed her well needed rest here. I can see she will never move back here and dh and I will have to get used to it. She has really good friends there and a life there. One side of us is happy she is happy but the other side had always thought she was the one to come in and out of the door to say hello while she was in the neighborhood.

Oh well as long as she is happy we can be happy for her.

I have imagined, at this point in life, that I would have grandchildren coming in and out of my house and having my girls stopping by like dh and I did with dh's mom and d dad. I am adjusting myself and my purpose. It will be good to move forward in a positive and helpful way. I am just thinking through the next 1 - 5 years. lots of possibilities of where I can be a help!

- I do pray my girls find someone that loves them and respects them. (for them and not for me).

both dd's are with d mom for New Years eve! Mom loves it - dd's love it - and dh and I love a quiet New Years!

I will say with dd and her dd gone I feel like I can get back to work!

I'm just talking through my anxiety over the decisions and wishing there was a child raising manual to make it easier to know what the right thing to do<<<<< DS14 called me from his worksite and told me what he is doing. Something new in his work is happening. I'm not totally comfortable with this change but I'm trusting in the process and know DS14 has many mentors overseeing him. The change started a couple days ago when DS14 arrived at work (his bosses home) and his boss handed DS14 his work truck keys to go do things by himself. His boss work vehicle is a one ton dually with custom flatbed (aka bigger and wider than normal vehicle). Yesterday DS14 (working on his own) hooked up that vehicle to a flatbed trailer and then picked up 36 sheets of sheetrock from a local lumber yard and delivered/unloaded it at their current house renovation site. The employees at lumber yard helped load the sheetrock and there were workers at the home renovation site to help DS14 unload the sheetrock. DS14 is allowed to drive vehicles in our tiny town with extremely strict boundaries. The police know and allow it if it is part of his work. Today DS14 arrived at his boss home to start working and his boss again handed DS14 the keys to the one ton, gave him instructions what to do at the house renovation site. Then he sent DS14 off on his own to accomplish it. Over the past 2 years of DS14 working for this boss he has always worked side-by-side with him and been directly under his supervision. This change puts DS14 more on his own. Hum....like I said... I'm not totally comfortable with this change but I'm trusting in the process.

I'm making lasagna from scratch today and am preparing to make black eyed peas and cornbread for tomorrow. I like long cooking times for the blackeyed peas and prefer the flavor after they go through a cook/cool/cook process

I'm working on tiny habits of daily cleaning to keep rooms company ready. Today I've done my bathroom, DD11 bathroom, DS14 bathroom, living room, and the fun room.

Wow, last day of the year already. Found myself nodding in agreement when I read LadyM's "I am not ready for the new month or the new year". There are so many things I wanted to get caught up on but didn't (or didn't finish). I've decided that January will be a catch up month for me.

My late dmil was a member of the DAR, Rose. It was impressive to read her genealogy allllll the way back to the 1700's.

Hi Harmony. Glad you are feeling much better.

It was warm enough for dh & I to take a walk this morning. Always a nice way to start the day. I love your idea for sunrise/sunset walks LadyM. Today we traditionally have appetizers for lunch & dinner. Still need to thaw some shrimp for shrimp cocktail tonight. Dh uses ketchup & horseradish to make the sauce for us. I washed the rugs in our bathrooms the other day & instead of using the recommended delicate setting with an extra spin, I tried the bulky setting, which works well for blankets & comforters. It shredded the backing of both rugs, & put a six inch tear in one of them. Sigh. Dh grabbed his shop vac to clean out the washer & floor for me. Yesterday I spilled half a mug of hot cocoa onto my keyboard. Luckily it is separate from my pc so I was able to quickly flip it over & get a lot of it out. Turned it off & used a tissue wrapped around a butter knife to carefully soak up the liquid I could see between the keys. That worked well, & other than some temporary sticking of a few letters & space bar hours later, it's as good as new.

Cathy, I looked up a picture of the blue jays you stitched for your dh -- so pretty.
Mystery, I hope you had no lingering soreness after your fall.
Wondering how Mr Dee & Lucylee's dmom are doing. Need to cuop in J&C & also read a few pages from yesterday here in pwyc. Will do that now, & then at some point today I must take out the 2023 kitchen calendar & put all upcoming appointments on it. I keep anything for the following year in an envelope clipped to the back of the current year's calendar, & usually do this in mid to late December. This year I'm really late! Pretty sure dh has an appt on the 2nd; don't want him to miss that if he does. I use a perpetual calendar for birthdays so I don't have to transfer those every year.
