What are you doing today? Another day "off" of the long weekend? Back to normal? Reset to begin new year?
Do share!

Here, it's another day of dh in the chair and TV going. But I have a therapy appt (live, not Zoom) at noon and afterward going to the visitation for our dneighbor's dmom. We had the fire pit and neighbors over last night - dh started his fire around six and we were in by nine p.m. thankfully. I was just so tired.
DMillie stayed in. She didn't have much interest in hanging out with people. Dneighbor's teen dd, who loves her, came in and visited and took her for a walk around the block too.
I left my big water tumbler at the New Year's eve dinner so I need to check in and hopefully pick it up today. Not the same drinking water out of something else.

Twins - Thank you for the start.
We had a smooth start to our first day of school. DD11 is a great student and loves school but on the way to school this morning she shared that she was not ready to leave the slow pace of break and return to fast-paced learning. She wasn't whining but just sharing her reluctance to leave the vacation mode.
Our septic system has a bright red light shining which means something is malfunctioning. We have called the septic system company and left a message that it needs to be serviced.
I woke up with the knowledge that I should declutter the half dozen tubs and the cattle water tank. I used these items as container gardens before I had raised bed gardens. It is time to release these unused items and let them bring joy to someone else. I will be rolling them out to the road in front of our home and place a FREE sign on them.

Morning…
Home from my exercise class and drinking my second cup of coffee. Once finished we are off to HD to pick up a few needed things. My moms lamps need new plugs… can’t imagine why they’re only 70+ years old and I need a new pot to transfer my moms plant that I brought back with me.
Last night while Sweetie walked I turned up the music and caught a second wind. I do much better with music blaring so I need to remember that. I have headphones that plug into my phone so I’ll need to remember that while I work around the house today.
Next up is redoing my office. Definitely need musics for that! Plus I want to repot my moms plant.
Thinking like LadyM as I start planning to grow my flowers. Not quite time yet, but do need to think about it. I’m not happy with some of what is growing here, but am paying attention to the sun and its paths. The back of my house faces south and the sides are bare. Morning sun last till about noon and then the area is shaded and the reverse is true for the other side. Think there will be a bit of trial and error, plus I want to plant perennials which I haven’t done in many years.
Dinner is leftovers for Sweetie and fish for me. Back on a strict eating plan so need to do a grocery run. I am like Harriet…although I could eat out of my freezer for about 3 weeks… mines small too… no way could I go a month without going to the grocery store because we eat so much produce as well.
Just remembered… need to look at my moms oatmeal cookie recipe because I want to make a batch to send to my brother. Better do that now before I head out.
See ya!!!

I'm worn out and doing nothing. Which is bad because this is my only free day for a while and I have lots that needs to be done. Not the least of it, weekly house blessing (and the kitchen floor is really sticky.) With the grands coming tomorrow, I have to at least get the vacuuming done.
Someone 2 floors below me is getting water backing up into her kitchen sink. This is the same shared drain stack as my washer, which had the weird noises and foul smell last Wednesday. The plumber couldn't find anything obviously wrong then. I've run at least one load of laundry since then and need to run 3 today. I hope I don't flood out either myself or my neighbour below me.
OK, I'm stepping away from the computer.
I've been trying to find a solution to my cell phone situation - basically it boils down to I need to buy a whole new wardrobe of loose, but sturdy fabric, clothing and then have proper pockets added to it. Because I'm on android, the 'small' phones they offer at 6" in size (apple offers a few an inch smaller) and the latest phone in my series is now 6.8" big. I'm shopping for a new phone because I've damaged my old one from it falling out of pockets because it is too large and ratchets up as I bend and then falls out, or if it is a big, loose pocket like in an apron, it just falls out when I bend over. My screen is cracked, not badly, but I need a new case and screen protector and I was thinking, rather than spend the money on that, I should just move up onto a new phone. One is on its way but it is Costco, so I may return it. Can't find a good protective case for it. Of course my existing phone also doesn't have a good protective case, hence the slipping out of pockets, etc.

Not CUOP, not going to J&C where this probably belongs. Taking dh to ER. Trying to get all his paperwork from up north together and updating med list AGAIN to take with us. He's in so much pain. (I feel for you and your Mom, Lucylee). Will update later hopefully with some good New Year's news.

Kathryn, have you considered using a fanny pack for your phone? They usually have a nice big zippered pocket and goes around your waist like a belt. I used to use one when I rode my bike around the neighborhood, it kept my keys and phone secure, also the remote garage door opener. Hmmm wonder what happened to that?
I am working on my desk. Found a file no longer needed and DH has been burning stuff they did not pick up so I went out and added all of that to the fire. It was sensitive material from when I used to send out the first time visitors letters from church. They no longer do that, or someone from the office does it... and it was a dumb chore because the letters were just a form letter which we'd put their name and address on and send out. Nothing personal. I always thought it was busy work... anyway, copies of all that are burned up. I have the letter saved on my computer, but I doubt I'd ever need it again.
I no longer have a shredder. The last couple I had quit working soon after I started using them. Don't want to get another because no matter how much I tried to be careful how I used them they never lasted.
Tried to print out my December bank statement but it wasn't available yet. Come on people, go back to work please.
(Dee) so sorry to read this. Praying he gets good help there.
Ok, back to work here.

Noise canceling headphone chat - I want to thank
Kathryn for directing me toward a different style of headphones when I was searching for comfortable noise canceling headphones for DD11. Her need was because of sensory overload when in noisy environments. I bought
these headphones for her to try and she absolutely loves them. They do have Bluetooth capability so she can connect to her phone to play music or videos when she gets emotionally overwhelmed and needs to take a break.
We have two workmen here. One is working outside on the septic system and just reported that it needs a new compressor, and he is installing it now. The other workman is working in the living room on the free-standing gas fireplace. The fireplace pilot is working but the main flame won't ignite. He just reported that the fireplace needs a new solenoid and remote. He will order those parts and return to finish the repairs when he has the necessary parts.
I've had my first two mini meals and completed the first three hourly step goals. DS14 is working on homeschool assignments. He is NOT thrilled to be doing Romeo and Juliet in ELA.

Dh needed a medication from Costco, so we went there a couple of hours ago. I also got a print out from the pharmacy for last year's meds for our accountant. We also went to Burger King to have a cheeseburger. Dh is always, always craving cheeseburgers, so I told him we would get/have cheeseburgers on Mondays. We also have leftovers from last night for supper tonight.
So, I am up and dressed and getting on with my day. It's day 2 of playing with my cross stitch floss, and I think I will be done by the time dh is finished watching the Bills game today/tonight. (At least I think there is a football game, but he's not doing too great with remembering a lot of stuff lately.)
There is no snow anywhere around us and it's "warm" out (AKA above zero) even though it is overcast.
