I've finally cuop since Tuesday.
Harriet: re grey pages on planner. Either spend a few minutes with a light coloured pencil, colouring in boxes or even lightly colouring the whole page, OR, use some stickers. I get lots of stickers in the mail from charities as part of their fundraisers so I cut off our return address on some of them and use the pretty pictures to decorate the corners of my pages.
My planner is an incredibly plain lab notebook, and, dare I say it?, ugly. So stickers (little ones from freebies and some larger options from the dollar store) and sometimes coloured pencil shading in special days or notes, are what I use to make it more pleasing visually.
Mystery on Wednesday:
Where did the time go this morning? ... Maybe I can pretend I’m out in the Pacific time zone with Nancy….
Sounds like a plan! It is 10:30 and I'm still at my computer.
I'm glad I went back to cuop because I found this affirmation:
I can expand my comfort zone.
Like the rest of you, I like it too. It is well worth adding to one's affirmations even at my "old-dog, no new tricks" age. I've added it to the front page of my planner.
Someone (LM?) mentioned her dh meeting with a life-long friend and that reminded me to text mine and set up a time together since our pre-Christmas one was cancelled.
I have to work on Hay Lake reservations today. The old owner has offered to open up her old house for dd because we are friends, but there would be no housekeeping staff so dd would have to manage all the linens, etc. In the meantime, I haven't heard from the new owner to see if we can keep our dates. Dsil needs to know to book his summer holidays.
I also have to book White Point. It will be in the summer, not late May as I thought due to dfs' needs. We'll have to do it as soon as possible in July (dh's travel makes that the 12th or so) because of hurricane season starting in August.
I have a week's worth of emails to respond to (I stayed off-line as much as possible while grands were here.
Our time with dgs6 was lovely. He ended up sleeping in our room but in the play tent on the floor and he went to bed on his own so it was just a matter of putting him down at 9 and he'd get up around 8. We were long out of the room by then and he didn't wake up.
He had wanted the Christmas decorations down and so we got that done mostly done over the 2 day stay. The kitchen window 'tree' is left to do and a big job. When I walked into the room last night, I noted half the lights on the string are now off. It was fine in the morning. Sadly, the clearance sales are over so I'll have to buy a new string next November.
Getting that packed away will be big task of the day.
Dgd'almost'4 was a challenge while here yesterday. She is a real bully and I had to correct her repeatedly. She is lovely at times and super smart but she's also really bossy and mean to her brother who is physically smaller than her and puts up with the abuse rather than fight back. For instance, she claimed the whole living room carpet (with all the toys) her space so I set him up in the dining room under the table as a house. Then she claimed that for her space too, so he moved to his tent bed in my bedroom which she bullied him out of. I set up a 'condo' for him in the spare bedroom (under a card table draped with a blanket) and rigged the door with my door child-proofing used backwards, so she couldn't get in.
I really need her here for 2 - 3 days to reprogram her bad behaviour while at my place. It extends to her bullying dgs1.75, taking toys from him or dragging him around to do what she wants. So it isn't just with her brother. Since she's only here when dgs1.75 is while her parents are here, it has been them who have put her into time out for that behaviour (and the resulting tantrums.) But I will use that if I get a chance to reprogram her behaviour. She won't sleepover here, and they don't have a car so it isn't like she can be dropped off here like dgs1.75 is, so multiple day stays won't happen unless there's some sort of emergency.
OK, now to mark yesterday (and the other days) as finished and move forward.
I need a shower, so that will be my starting point. At least I remembered my meds today. I was sore from the lack of glucosamine/chondroitin yesterday and also had not had my ADD meds. So the fact I did as well as I did yesterday was amazing but it also points out why I was having such trouble processing "what's next" and thus was unable to ask for help from dh.
