It's rain coming down here but what other showers are happening at your house today? Showers of gratitude, blessing, positivity, affirmations?

Twins - Thank you for the start today.
My morning is going smoothly (mostly). DS14 had a friend spend the night and the evidence of their late-night activities are scattered through the house. Apparently, the boys wanted a bigger open space to use the oculus VR because I found it set up in the garage this morning.
Last night's shopping trip with DD11 was a mixed success. We were shopping for shoes but instead DD11 found her dream coat and books. DD11 has no interest in clothes or shoes. I told her that I'm going to put a limit the number of coats that she has like I did with her notebooks, and we had a shared laugh about her love for paper products and coats. DD11 did find two more books to read. I am really hesitant to let her read books without reviewing them. I told her the books might have romantic scenes and her reply was "I am 11-year-old. I already know about that stuff. I will just skip those pages." Kids grow up so much faster than we did in my generation. I am not comfortable with this inflated speed and wish I could slow down time and keep her innocence as long as possible.
Today's plans -
** Small groups
** Worship service
** Lunch with DBro & wife, DSis and the last remaining person in the oldest generation of our family. My DUncle is going to allow us to quiz him about some of our childhood memories to make sure we have the facts correct. Did Grandpa Earl really start hunting for family food at 3 years old? DBro has memories that Grandpa Earl was given 2 bullets and the responsibility of bringing home meat for the family to eat that day. If he missed, then they didn't eat that day. I know the earlier generation did things at a younger age. Grandpa Earl went across several states on cattle drive at 15 years old and rode up Pikes Peak by himself (on horseback) at 16 years old. We have pictures of him in the Wild West show as a teenager performing rope tricks while standing on a running horse.

Showers of healing thoughts too. Ambulance running lights just pulled up at dneighbors across the street. R and her dh D are slightly older than we are - I know they had COVID very recently too although I know they had all shots. Dh reports that D's blood sugar was too high - going to a smaller ER near here and hoping he won't have to be admitted.
TV is too loud this a.m. already. I'm going to need to go upstairs, lol.

No progress here. I missed getting off to church by several hours.
Still in my dressing gown.
The LRT is still not functioning here although the positive spin was it is running in closed loops on either side of the blockage (day 4 now) and bus running around the blockages. Today I learned only 2 trains are in our end of town so the LRT is running on a 15 minute schedule (instead of 3 - 5 minutes.) School goes back on Monday so ridership has been down since the system stopped working and it is inconvenient for the infrequent service but not catastrophic. On Monday morning, thousands of buses will be dropping people to get on trains that are running at 1/5th capacity. Which is going to cause havoc. And no-one, aside from our councilor, has mentioned this problem.
Two trains were stopped on the lines on Wednesday (with people trapped on board from 11:45 to 12:45 in the night.) Eventually, they decided they couldn't get the train moving so evacuated people off the trains and had them walk down the line to a station.
On Friday they sent in a train to pull out the two stuck trains and it broke the power lines again. On Saturday, they sent in a train to pull out the three stuck trains and it broke the power lines again. They only have 13 more left. Sadly, people are placing bets on how many will be stuck in total before they actually fix the problems. In the meantime, they've brought in an external oversight consultant to oversee the other external oversight company that is overseeing the rail maintenance company.
It really is a farce except real people are affected badly by this.

Good morning - I will read back to see how you all have been doing! I hope you are doing well!
We here have had to watch dh go through a horrible week. I stayed at the hospital for two nights with him and I am glad I did. I have been there for the days until yesterday as I ended up with covid as well and can't go to the hospital to be with him.
what's happened:
-Rick started to get a cold on Wednesday or Thursday.
-Friday I thought he should go to his doctor and Saturday I wanted him to go to immediate care.
-Sunday He had to go and wanted to go.
-He went to the local hospital but after cat scans they realized they couldn't help him bc they didn't have the expertise.
-His oxygen continued to drop to 80 and they wanted to do a trac on Tuesday bc they were afraid he would crash - by the time he agreed then it was too late.
-The next morning he crashed bc his oxygen tube clogged as they predicted and they finally got him to breath -again. I was in the room. (The worry was that they couldn't get a trac in bc of his previous trac 12 years ago, and all the scar tissue)
-He had an emergency trac put in which saved his life again.
What we found out:
-He has covid which closed his already small breathing tube (from all the scare tissue in his neck) smaller.
-He had a cat scan and they found a 6.3 cm tumor in his lung. (which I found out from dh that he had a little dot 12 years ago and it wasn't what dh thought was a problem.
-At first they thought he had a tumor in his neck but it was just his scare tissue.
He had a heart attack but they don't know when - he has one wall that is not working well.
-
Where we are now:
He is delirious most times - he cries a lot - is angry a lot - but doesn't know what he is doing
He is tied down bc he pulled out his feeding/med tube.
he is fighting the restraints and I worry he will have a heart attack or a stroke. He fought 8 hours straight to get out of bed
He fights until he falls asleep
They put him on anti psychotic drugs but it's not helping - they can't give him a relaxer as they need to keep his body from slowing down.
He wants to go home.
Covid is back all over here. a young woman 25-27 came to the er with covid and the next day died. dd older said is was so hard to see. She was so young.
Covid went through the family after Christmas - so the extra help can't be there to take up the time with dh.
Where we go:
We wait
Dh: once he is better he will see a heart dr. and oncologist. - I think he should be at the hospital we are at right now as they can handle his stenosis in his neck.
We can only go forward.
Praying that he can stop fighting his restraints so that he can heal.
dd younger is on the home front helping - she did see dh and spend a couple days there but she is allergic to the covid shots and is at risk.
dd older has been there from sunrise to 8 - 10 but now it's all on her bc I can't go in.

Oh (((blessed)))! I am so sorry you are all having to deal with all this! Praying you will bdd we clear of Covid soon, that your ddaughters will be strong and patient, and that dh will relax, rest, and see recovery soon! You all have so much on your plate right now. May God calm your nerves and renew your spirits as you wait for better news.

(((Blessed))) I hope your bout of Covid is as mild as dh's was.
Please order some N95 masks for your family. At this point no one else can get sick and N95 masks are your best chance of that happening. I recommend these because I find them the most comfortable to breathe through and they stay in place well if I wear a ponytail or half one:
https://www.amazon.com/3M-Aura-Particul ... B095DVPTCT
Everyone should be wearing a mask when in your presence and you should be wearing one when moving from room to room. They can be reused but allow them to dry out completely. You probably need a minimum of 5 per person.
Ideally, windows should be open through the house to increase airflow but that can be expensive to counteract the heat. Alternatively, air purifiers, but mine was $150, so they aren't cheap either.
Obviously, you need to pay attention to droplet spread (not as much an issue in public as part of general safety, but really important if you have a runny nose or cough.) So the dds should be washing hands after touching things you may have touched.
To make things simple for me, I made all of dh's food and delivered it on a tray to outside his room. He would return the tray to the kitchen (masked) and put all the dishes into a dish pan I had on the counter. That meant I was only touching his dishes once and when I was about to do the washing up or loading of the dishwasher, rather than moving them the tray to the counter by the sink, and then needing to wash my hands each and every time I touched them before they were out of my way.
The only other possible cross touching was the bedroom door handle because he had his own bathroom. I just had to remember to wash my hands after touching the bedroom door which only happened a couple of times.
At the 5 day point, he was no longer considered contagious so he would come into the kitchen (masked) and chat with me but I was able to drop all the extreme worry about touch.
He stayed masked for 10 days after his first symptom. Coincidently he tested negative that day.
I didn't get either from the brief exposure in the car when we drove home, or from living in the same apartment while he was obviously infectious. Isolation is a pain but it is really important. We talked either through the door or via skype.
