National "Clean off your desk" Day Monday January 9, 2023!

This is a day I could use! My desk has a nice top but I haven't seen most of it in many months. I also have to do paperwork for the accountant. He hasn't called to ask me for it yet, but he will.

I love it, Cathy! I was just thinking about how all the January home blog posts are decluttering or organizing. And I've been needing to get to the top of that desk upstairs for weeks and weeks.

I have a haircut at 12:30 and then a study group (for which I haven't done the homework) at 3:30. Dh has a 5-7 meeting so will run late and we'll each have leftovers. So I need to get moving and do some review of the article we're discussing at 3:30.

Cathy - Thanks for the start today and the encouragement to make some progress on my desk. It has been ignored for far too long.

DD11 has been delivered to school with happy chatter happening on our drive there. We also discussed this week's schedule. DD11 has 2 book reports due on Thursday and we have two nights of activities so she will need to manage her time well this week.

I didn't know about LastPass. I did a quick search to make sure I didn't ever use them. I did find my notes from 2017 when I was considering KeePass, 1Password or LastPass but I never did make the change to any of them. The no decision does not equal a good decision.

The rest of my week is busy but today I am looking forward to having a normal day with normal activities.

Good morning. Bright sunny day here. Cool, though.

I did find my desktop because I wanted to use it for something else and I even looked through the inbox. Some stuff in there but not important to do now. Some paper torn up and out to the garbage can ahead of the pickup this morning.

Our plumbers (with no insurance on their own house) wanted to borrow nail guns and nails. DH got 2 out, when he came he pulled another off the shelf and took all 3 to use. Roof damage. Older house, probably can't get insurance on it. Fortunately they are able to do the work themselves.

Today's jobs: pack up Christmas. I cant get the outside lights up on the shelf in the bin because DH has both ladders out on dumb job. I have need of that ladder for several things around here. So we'll see what I get done. At least I can box most of the inside stuff up ready to get up in the top shelves of the closet. New year here. Off I go.

Dog walked, s2s done, breakfast. Need to clear and wipe the island in the kitchen and stretch.

I just keep adding things to my to do list. Before Christmas I found that the new sunglasses don't have the correction for up close reading. We had had so much rain that I hadn't worn them where I needed to see up close. But before Christmas, I wasn't going anywhere near the mall, so I need to do it now. Remembered it out walking today when I couldn't read my phone.

I need to at least do the kitchen counter then start on case study reading for the afternoon group.

Hello to all.

I am a bit congested today - I will test again for covid but I know the answer.
dh is going on his 10th official day of covid. His heart levels didn't look great but at least they are keeping an eye on it. They may have to put stents in today.
I am worried about dd older getting exhausted. She is there all the time.
covid is nasty.

The SUV has started to give a nagging reminder that it is time to change the oil. DH volunteered to take care of that task.

I'm keeping pace with my tasks on an hourly schedule. It feels like a game to me. Absolutely no one knows if I accomplish everything that I have scheduled in each of the hourly timeslots, so it isn't public. It is just me privately challenging myself to meet my "perfect" schedule. I don't feel pressured by it, and I find it to be motivating so I keep doing it. When i accomplish all the tasks in each hour then I mark that hour successful & complete. It is a visual way of quickly reviewing the day and knowing how I spent my time.

Harmony - you are so good at taking care of things and not letting them pile up due to procrastination. I am watching your success and find myself wishing I would develop this trait. I have paperwork that I am ignoring, and I know it is going to be costly if I don't get my act together.

Ladders chat - Does everyone use ladders in their home? I am trying to be aware of how many times I need a ladder and to eliminate that need. It usually requires me to relocate storage bins to an easier accessible place. I am thinking long term (10-20 years) and how I will accomplish task then. I do not want to be needing to use a ladder when I am older age and putting myself at risk. I know many older people who fell off ladder and/or steps and it either killed them immediately or lead to their rapid decline in health. I have high risk for bone fracture, and I am trying to do all I can to reduce the risk of it happening. Am I over thinking this?

Bit by bit I can do this.
It is frosty out here but we had rain in the forecast.

Ladders I call one of the kids or grand If I need ladder work done.

Good morning afternoon!

So much for keeping to a routine! I slept badly last night and made up for it with a nap this morning. When I was awake, I had a lot of negative thoughts; I hope I’m not heading into a mood episode.

DH did go in to work after all. He said he wasn’t sure how long he would stay, but it’s past noon, and I haven’t heard from him, and he’s not home.

My desk is closed up (it has a drop front) and in an out-of-the-way place because it normally sits near the front window where our Christmas tree goes. So it will be out of commission for another week. We keep Christmas up till at least Epiphany, and our garbage day is Friday, so we’ll take things down this Thursday (or maybe next; I’m just not ready to let go of Christmas) and send the tree to the street. I think they’ll pick up trees till mid-January. Of course, the end of this week will be mid-January.

I’m going to have lunch and see if I can’t just find my routine.
