Sunday, Situating

Are you well situated for the upcoming week, with cards, planner and/or calendar efficient? Or do you need to take some time to squeeze yourself into the times and places of the week and get situated?
How are you situating your household's items and rooms lately, and your family's activities? Is your home already juuuuuust right, or do you have some thoughts on changing use of spaces? Where do you need elbow room, and how can you increase the chances of getting situated there?

I’m finally feeling somewhat “situated” now, Harriet, since I got all the Christmas stuff put away.
Dh is really feeling rough — bp running in the 160/70 range and he can’t sleep. He sees the doctor and has bloodwork again on Friday but between high potassium, new bp medicine and arthritis pain, he is not doing well.
However, he plans to go to College Town Wednesday with ds, and I do hope they can do that.
We’re headed to church now.
Hope y’all all have a great day!

Dh and I went to the inside walking track and he did 3 laps, which is making me happy. I did 2. It's the first windless day in quite a while, so we lit a fire outside because I had a lot of stuff to get burned. Now the back hall looks so much better without all those boxes full of boxes/cardboard. Car is in garage because we might get snow later. Dh will be watching NFL football.
I was thinking about starting a thread in MO for our husbands. Anybody interested? Seems that those of us with husbands are almost all dealing with their health issues in some way. Some days it overwhelms me to come here and read all the news. I just sit here and cry. If it's in MO, we can mention their real names and that way the people who would like to pray for them can mention their real names in their prayers. Just a thought. Someone else could start it if they like.
We are having breaded, baked pork chops for supper. Dh is getting upset regarding the levels of meat getting lower in the chest freezer. He came in and told me we had no more pork chops after the package he just took out. That matches with this very sloppy inventory list that I have hanging on a clipboard in the pantry. (I used a small caribiner (?) clip to hang the clipboard on to the metal Costco shelves.) We still have liver in the freezer along with "unknown" amount of ground meat. Does anyone know where I can buy the wheels that go onto the bottom of these shelves. We put them all in the garage back in 2015 and dh has used them all for various things outside. I want to replace the wall to wall carpet in the spring and it would make life easier to move the shelves around if they have wheels. We never thought we would need them moved. (Silly us.)

hello dear ones!
I am staying home today as I have someone coming to bring the small freezer on Tuesday - I need to put things away in basement
I have decided that I will go Monday through Friday in the morning. The trip (hour there and hour back) plus the time with dh takes up most of the day so I decided that I need 2 days off a week even though I miss dh.
I don't need to be as part of the caring team as I was before - I helped the nurses on a regular basis as I have had a lot of experience - It was nice to help him and the nurses said it was nice not having to wait for help. After years of caring for others I have gotten the question asking if I am a nurse. I definitely could not be A nurse - its such a hard job. It's funny what you pick up by just loving and caring for our loved ones.
dh is not as thrilled with me cleaning him up any more and wants to do it himself. a good thing.
dd's will go on weekends.
I would love to ask family when they are going as they no longer tell me. dd older and dd younger thinks I should ask if they can tell me when they are going, so that I don't worry so much about dh and being bored or feeling alone.
This week:
Yesterday he was great - laughing etc. and using his trac to talk
the day before he couldn't catch his breath and his oxygen was in the 70's
I am taking the more good days more than bad; adjusting to where he is day by day.
This week's goal, for him, is to have a biopsy of his lung.
------------------------------
I woke up very late - very
------------------------------
made a menu - dd younger will go shopping for me for today's dinner.
------------------------------
I am trying to get back on weekly routines including exercise
------------------------------
staying on trash/recycling/ visual clutter put away/donations daily routine.
-------------------------------------
hello d Harriet - hi thank you for starting us!!! I love my she's in her apron planner! thank you for helping us check in on our cards/planner/calendar for the next week.
hi d Lucy yay on getting your Christmas put away!
praying your dh feels better!
have a nice time at church
hi d cathy - how nice to walk on the track good for him! I think that's a nice idea.
I would ask Home Depot or where you bought it from - or a hardware store. I received wheels on my fridge and I asked them to keep them there - you wouldn't know they are there but it makes life easier. I want wheels on my washer and dryer as well -
I get a new freezer this Tuesday.
hope you find the wheels.
hello everyone!!!
I am still in my pj's even though it is 1:00 wow

~~~waving HI to all~~~~
Attending church this morning was comforting and brought me peace. Being surrounded by family & friends is important especially when going through rough times.
This SHE village is extremely important to me, and I want to support whatever is helpful to each one. I hope we each know that we are not alone and have a support team if/when we need it.
Lunch was pulled chicken and a freshly baked loaf of bread. I'll have a green salad later today.
Hearing that blessed's dh is laughing makes me smile!
Situating and husbands: HRH is acting sort of like Harmony's dh sometimes does, in that he is doing for others (great) without remembering to talk it all out with me first (not so great). This has to do with furniture being moved while I am asleep (not that he's hiding what he's doing so much as thinking to himself and then, unable to sleep, acting rather than waiting to talk to me). So, I am less situated, but since it's for a good cause I feel/look like a bad guy if I have a problem with it.
It's complicated. Moving on.
Today is a birthING day for me! Dd42 has just become dd43. All I have to give her is a cheerful/brainy tee shirt, proceeds going to charity. It's nice but not exactly a big deal and I'm feeling inadequate. You will not be surprised that I wrapped it extraordinarily, though - used a set of two tissue papers with the decorative edge of one overlapped over the other, and streaming curly ribbon from the bow. HRH says he timed me
and I spent an hour. He seems to think this is a bad thing - like I should repent of wrapping or something.
Dstepson will be here soon because our half-bathroom toilet is on the fritz again. Or, maybe .. ... always. Sigh. Wouldn't it be nice if there was someone you could call. Someone with, say, a trade. An education in fixing things. Someone with - I don't know - a business. HRH always thinks there is enough expertise among family and friends to try them first.
Dd24 will also be here soon and we'll decide if there's anything else we can do to make dd43's birthday special.
Ds and ddil are on the Atlantic coast of FL, spending a night (two) without children for the first time in 11 years. Happy for them.
I made it to church barely. Sinus on one side was giving me probs.
I did all the things hot sauce, menthol cough drop and sort of forced myself to go.
Glad I did it was a really good service today.
Left snacks for p/m study in case I do not make it you just never know.
Next week is a pot luck thinking on that.
Got my package.
Yea that was exciting!
The pan I heated up then after I got home used to cook my lunch in.
I have a box to situate in the truck for donations.
It is taking up room in the way and I can add to it for the load next time I am down town.
Walked w ddog done.
------
Cathy I think that could go in J and C thread.
Others have posted like you said in there.
There are no truer homemaking words than, "CALL THE MAN, call. the. man."
Or woman, if possible, but Call.
Whatever you think is fine,
Cathy. It's amazing how many of us are having family challenges right now. DH recognizes his problems and laments about things sometimes. He's trying yet another over the counter solution.... none of them ever did anything to help. Yesterday we were laughing about this stuff helping, if he could remember to take them!
We were at church today and DH saw someone he recognized and said the last name. I was surprised because that guy had moved away. He looked familiar. We talked with him on the way out. After we were home, and I looked up his picture in an old church directory with pictures, DH said, oh my
this guy's name was ___ (it was very
like the name he told me but not the same) and we figured it out. I'm sure this man was puzzled about what I said to him. He was NOT the man who was our adult Sunday School teacher years ago, though he didn't ask me what I meant when I told him I missed the class.
If we see him again I will tell him my mistake and apologize. One doesn't have to have memory problems to have trouble remembering names. Happens to all of us.
I have gathered all the bags of rubbish in the house and it's out for pickup.
I am sorta dreading this week. We are starting the gutter work on Monday and I wish I didn't have to do it, but I don't want him up on the ladder. It is much easier for me to do this stuff but I'm not sure if I'm able to attach the clips, involving screws and screw drill. I'm not good with tools.
Since this is the day we gather stuff to put out for pickup, I will do a look around the house to see what we can also put out.
Cathy, I thought the same as Blessed about the wheels, H.D. or wherever you got the shelves, or a hardware store. You must look at how they'll attach, do they have a hole for a post (and how long a post will fit) or will they screw onto the bottom? It's not an easy thing. Some places sell a flat smooth pad we can put under something heavy to slide it along. Didn't
Harriet use something like that with some furniture? Someone here used something like that...
I am sitting down for the first time since 9:00
It is extremely windy here with gusts at 25-30mph. Perfect for what I had planned. I totally emptied the lanai of all furniture and scrubbed and washed everything.
6 wrought iron captain chairs with webbing seats and backs, 1 huge wrought iron table that seat six, 2 heavy chaise lounge chairs and 9 pieces of rattan sectional pieces. I also washed two sectional covers that were stained. The day was sunny and thankfully the wind blew which helped to dry everything.
I am tired. Last night I slept over 10 hours! Can’t remember when that has happened. I did a lot of physical work around the house yesterday and the day before so I guess my body just need to recover.
Here’s a funny which y’all can appreciate. Yesterday our neighbor came over to see our lanai repair and to help Sweetie as they were getting new mailboxes ready to install. I’m not sure if he’s been in our home before but he kept telling me and Sweetie how much he love our home because it was so uncluttered. He also told me how much he loved our lanai.
His wife is a collector of many things which she has displayed all over her home… we e been over there several times. She also loves growing all kinds of plants and before the hurricane had to bring more than 300 into her house… she keeps hers in her lanai.
Later Sweetie came back inside and said our friend kept commenting how nice my floor looked. We have the same floor plan, but I don’t remember what color their tile is. Mine is sort of a swirly beige.
Anyway while I was out working on my lanai, I noticed my friends wife was working on hers. She was gathering all her plants which she has had scattered all over the place and was lining them up in the center of the lanai. That really helped in freeing up spaces in there and I have a feeling our friend must have said something to her. I will tell you her outside yard is beautiful with many flowering bushs and wild flowers growing every where. She truly loves her plants!
