Morning…

I slept late till almost 8. Haven’t don’t that in a very long time. However to be honest I had a headache pop up late yesterday afternoon and had to take some meds for it. Then stayed up late watching the end of 1923.

We had an animal drag a huge fish up in our yard during the other night and left it partially eaten between the head and the body. Told Sweetie I wanted to leave it there to see if what every ate it in the first place would come back the next night… can’t help it it’s the nature/science girl in me.

Sure enough looked at it yesterday morning and more of the head had been eaten. Told Sweetie to leave there again and this morning all but a part of the tail was gone! Remeber I live on a lake. The fish was over a foot long and looked to weigh about 2 lbs. I showed picture to some friend yesterday and they told me they thought a family of otters had been dining on it.

Seems otters catch fish, drag in on to shore and let their kitts, babies, eat on it. I was told otters usually eat the part of the fish between the head and the body, but also like to eat the head. Must of come back last night to finish it off. That’s my best bet. We do have coyotes here not to mention cats, but I found the tail close to the waters edge and cats and coyotes would have just dragged the fish away.

I have 8 sunnie sprouts standing almost a half inch tall in just 4 days. That’s exiting to me, so I’m going to plant more today and then go to HD to buy more soil so I can plant some more. This is the time of year I usually plant in AZ, but I’m not there any more so I didn’t know what to expect. Only time will tell if I’m right.

Now I need to finish my morning routines. Then it’s time to get my hands really dirty

I think I need a trip to the store for the vegan appetizer that I rashly promised for tonight. The chopped liver recipe I was thinking of is sadly, only vegetarian, so I'm trying another. Texted hostess to check in before I go.

OTOH, Dh is liable to show up here and insist we're going to the river at noon so I need to get myself going.

I am up have journaled taken Rx and we have clouds rain in the forecast for today.
Going back to bed is not out of the question for me not feeling super today not awful however.
Focusing on good news I have snowdrops blooming in my yard!
Took one pkg. of meat I froz. to the freezer in the basement for some of my steps.

We slept in today. It's gorgeous and sunny, but it's also really windy. I'll take the sunshine!

I have put away all the clean laundry. I've swept and washed all the floors. Dishes need to go into the dishwasher. I couldn't do any "wet" jobs yesterday because the septic wasn't draining the pipes from the house very well. It rained here on Thursday night and we had some water in the back of the yard. Dh checked the sump pump and switched to another one yesterday morning.

We are having chicken and asparagus tonight.

Bed has also been made.

I'm getting some happy vibes from the village today. Virtually sharing Twins sunshine, RR sunnies sprouting, and Nancy snowdrops blooming.

LadyM, what kind of fencing are you putting up?

Short answer - The side of the fence that faces the garden area will be solid metal 8' tall, the other side of the fence structure that faces the bull pasture has metal panels.

Long answer - Because of our wide-open plains with the straight-line wind, we are building it with extra strong structure. The vertical supports are 10' tall metal 3" post set 2' into the ground in concrete. The horizontal structure is 3 rows of Cee Purlin. The solid metal fence is R panel 26 gauge metal panels capped. This heavy duty of a fence structure would probably be considered overkill by most, but we are not sure it is going to hold up to the straight line winds and being pushed on by the bulls. The outside of this fence is facing the bull pasture which means we have dual fence to keep the bulls from rubbing and bending the solid metal panels. We can only try and hope this fence can hold up to the beating it is going to take.

Yesterday I finished decorating 3 rooms with spring themes. I am pleased with how it turned out. I decluttered over half of my spring decorations because the kids have outgrown many of them (they don't hide eggs or use easter baskets, etc) When I replace the decorations, I also replace all the family photos being displayed. I rotate about a couple dozen framed family photos, so they stay visually fresh. I enjoy the conversations that happen discussing who/what/when about the photos. The family photos are stored in plastic tubs with seasonal decorations, so the photos are displayed for a month or so every year. I have also started displaying a few pages of the photo album instead of having the photo books stored away. This has greatly increased the enjoyment of the old photos.

I am going to attempt to cook my very first tomahawk steak today. I told DH my plans and my hesitation of never doing it before. DH said the worst that can happen is we chunk it up and make soup. That made me chuckle and gave me confidence that somehow, someway I can get this thing cooked and eatable. I'm also roasting sweet potato & russet potato rounds and sautéing bell peppers & onion slices.

DD and I went to S am’s C lub early this morning -good time to go!

I didn’t get all that much sleep last night as it was too warm in there. Actually dh went to bed before 7 and slept solidly until well after 9:30. Finally got him awake enough to take his nighttime meds. But then neither of us slept till after 1am. I was up/down and so was he.

The good note is his weight was down 1# from yesterday and some of his swelling of the (unmentionables) was down by over half. He’s still somewhat confused, but can see he’s doing somewhat better. He even asked me last night, “Compared to yesterday how do you think I’m doing today?” Actually I could see improvement even then. He definitely has a long ways to go but we’re encouraged. The Heart Clinic gal called me again yesterday to see how he was progressing. I have no doubt that they will keep right on top of it.

DD said this morning if dh feels that much better Monday morning we’ll take him to breakfast on the way to have blood work done. He’ll definitely be ready. It’s been months since he’s eaten out. Praying for steady as you go “progress”!!! He even mentioned he might want to go to church tomorrow morning. Know dd is not going to go as she has an Orlando Solar Bears game tomorrow afternoon. Traffic in the morning will be ‘unreal’ with all the people headed to the Daytona 500. We did that many years ago and even way back then it was a very slow go.
Bought dh a whole container of grapes this morning which I put in the freezer for him. The Dr at the heart clinic suggested them for dry mouth and he really likes frozen grapes anyway.

Still waiting for dh’s W-2 from the parent company at our campground. Guess they really goofed up. They did change payroll companies part-way through the summer and we have received one W-2 but not the bulk of it. Couldn’t figure out at first why he’d earned so little last year. I’d like to get it sent in.

DD has free tickets to the Lightning vs Buffalo Sabres game on Thursday night. He was supposed to go but then we haven’t thought he’d be able to. So she offered the tickets to our best friend at church. His wife will go with him if dh can’t. DD was supposed to originally but she has to work her ‘fun job’ as it turns out.

Think I need to see if I actually sent the order for W almart or if it’s still sitting in the cart. Best go look.

I'm doing nothing today except what I want to. I'm in a mood. Tomorrow just got changed as well but at least it means a drive to ds's and not dgs coming here. So if I clean up, it will stick for another 2 days.

Yesterday was the other two grands and a snow storm. We were to get 2 - 4", we got 6 - 7" instead. And the plowing was poor as a result. It took 35 minutes to get to dd's to pick up the kids (and her over an hour to get the new car seat installed, including taking off, with a screw driver, the vehicle seat's headrest.)

So I left home at 9 and returned home at 11:45, the day half gone. We abandoned plans to go out for lunch at McD's, then to dh's doctor appointment and then explore where their mom had grown up. Dh went by himself and we played in the afternoon and then went out for McDonalds for dinner. I checked the eating area and there was one other family, over 30' away from the table I picked so the kids ate inside the restaurant instead of the car. That's the first time either of them remember eating inside any place other than my home or school (dgs was 3, dgd 1 when everything shut down.) They were a bit nervous (and told me they weren't to take their masks off when inside) but when they saw there was no-one anywhere near, they settled in. I still don't eat in restaurants with table service because those are too crowded, but fast food places are still empty these days, so we are doing that. I will go out to eat in a few months after the surgery is over, but until then, I'm being as safe as possible.

I've discovered partly why child care and other responsibilities seem so much more difficult than when my kids were young. Nowadays, everyone has immediate access to you. Thursday and Friday dropped 25 emails on me that needed action of some sort and another 30 that were ignorable. I also got three action required phones calls, and several texts and FB messages over those two day. No wonder I don't have time for anything.

I'm backed up (obviously since I haven't dealt with the majority of those requests for my time/attention) and exhausted.

Today's plan:

1. S2s and breakfast

2. Tidy up ((kitchen is done and bedroom, including emptying the drying rack, will be done while I get dressed.)

3. A bit of Residents' Association work (I'm going to try and limit it to 90 minutes.)

4. Watch Thoroughly Modern Millie and return the loaned DVD.

5. Pizza for dinner.

6. Early bed. I went to bed at midnight last night but ended up sleeping in until 9 (and dh slept until 8:30 after I got up at 6:30 and shut off the light and closed the blinds to make the room dark again.)

Good afternoon! Girls' night tonight. I'm going to make DD go into the store for me -- I am tasked with bringing salad dressing. There's a very nice garlic dressing we get sometimes, but we're out of it. I will have DD pick up some of that and a small bottle of ranch. I'll also make some Good Seasons with balsamic. While she's at the store, she can pick up stuff for dinner for herself and DC.

Anyhow, we're making ravioli tonight. I don't remember (if I ever knew) what the filling will be. Most of the women are tasked with various ingredients, and one is tasked with the salad, and I am tasked with the dressing. I'm also going to bring a bottle of moscato, which I think we must have won in a basket raffle sometime -- I'm not that fond of it, but I know several of the women like it.

lucylee, they're cabin camping. There's a wood stove in the cabin, and they're taking along an electric space heater.

Glad to hear things are getting better for Dee's DH; hopefully we hear some good news from blessed soon.

Dh is home and we'll be home for the afternoon, thankfully. Maybe go to the river tomorrow.
