Sunday Stickiness

So many thought about this!

First I was going to name it Stuck Sunday but that was too negative!

Stickiness is a bit better because it properly is associated with being able to clean up and move on.

Being stuck doesn't necessarily have that same association.

I think we are all dealing with stickiness. Cathy and I have recently had sticky floor issues (it took dh and I ages to figure out what caused ours.)

But I'm also stuck, not able to motivate myself to get the little things done that need doing.

Finally, there's the whole stuck at my keyboard, not being productive.

I need a mental reset to stop thinking about myself as stuck and to start seeing the things I'm stuck on as sticky messes that need wiping up.

Anyone else have some of those?

Obviously, good old soap and water is one for the physical stickiness.

For sticky tasks, timers are the usual solution. Or mental games like chore Bingo.

Finally, although it is imaginary, Butt Glue Solvent is really important as well.

What other sticky mess 'cleaning solutions' do you have to share?

It occurs to me that soap and water might be a good solution to start with as far as not getting things done. Taking a shower will get me out of this chair and maybe while washing my hair I can wash out some lethargy and distraction and add in some conditioning motivation.

I started the day after a good sleep and even started in on a task but immediately got stuck because 1. I need to get input from someone as to what name to use for them (and that name appears in 3 of my unfinished tasks) and 2. my keyboard is acting up for some reason and my keystrokes aren't what I expect them to be (and this one doesn't have a touch pad to move my cursor unexpectedly.)

So, I'm off to shower now, and then restart again. I'm considering moving my computer and screen to the dining room table in a standing desk configuration so that I won't have to find more BGS to get me out of my chair in the future. My keyboard tasks are mostly short ones, so sitting down for a long writing session is not necessary.

Good morning!

Kathryn - Thank you for the start and sticky thoughts.

I started my day in the kitchen making a pan of chocolate covered Rice Krispy treats. The melted marshmallows meant it was a sticky dish to make. While it was in pan cooling down, I did my AM personal tasks including washing hair. Then I came back to kitchen and cut them into squares and packaged them to travel. I will be making a double batch of mac & cheese to take too, but I want to wait until closer time to leave before cooking it.

DD46 called to chat. DD11 stayed the night with her and was sick during the night. DD11 had to switch bedrooms during the night because of the mess she made. I am not sad that DD46 is experiencing a tiny slice of real-life parenting. It isn't all bubbles and giggles.

Hi, Kathryn. I was glad to hear there were no new worries from the test yesterday.

Sticky notes are a love-hate relationship for me. If it's compelling enough to grab the pad and get something written down, then it's probably meaningful enough that I'm going to need to re-write, transposing somewhere else and taking time. I have at times written epistles on a stack of them because I couldn't exit and get something better for long notes. At that point, they become clutter. However, they are great place-holders in books, calendars, checkbooks, and I have used them to keep temporary track of chores on permanent 3x5s.

Full disclaimer, my first thought was of the icky sticky ointment I am temporarily putting on my skin and don't like very much.

I am usually stuck to the computer Saturday evenings for prayer meetings but missed last night. I can go back to see.

Both dstepson and dd24 will be here today.

Mystery, do you still have the stay-at-home weather? Yes, I did get over my bleariness and last night was a pretty good sleep. HRH had sort of wanted to watch tv in bed, which will disturb my sleep. I put on a rainstorm youtube as a compromise, but he says he thinks he was already asleep when I did that and didn't know. This morning he says he worried all night long in his sleep, about how he was going to get anything done today after these rains, and he felt wet and cold!

Well after working outside for the past two and a half hours, I took a shower and am no longer sticky, that for sure. And I even smell sweet.

Sitting here eating my brunch salad. Next up is vacuum and then head towards the grocery store. Did finish my book yesterday with a surprise ending. I always love those. :D

LadyM… where are you headed?

Waving to y’all, need to unstick my hinnie from this chair and get going before I loose my mojo.

Oh btw drank all my water yesterday, got in 12K steps and am half way to my water goal for today. Working outside really build up a persons thirst

Hello. I spent some time in J&C before coming here but didn't post. I'm short on band width to articulate all that I'm feeling right now.

And Sticky! Yes. Yesterday I was trying to pour some cooking fat that had accumulated from my meal I was cooking into the fat jar for the rubbish... and it didn't quite make it and I had a very messy oily counter, front of cabinets and floor. Took quite a few washings to get rid of that. I don't dare leave one smidgen of anything slippery on this floor. DH will fall. What's the measurement of a smidgen, anyway?!

Yesterday I worked on the seat covers in the car, attempting to get them anchored better. The newer one is better, the old one which really needs replaced now is anchored as good as can be in its present state. That job involved reaching underneath from the back and pulling straps in from the back to velcro to something back there. At least I tried.

And STUCK! Oh my yes. Non-working system here and a royal mess that only seems to get worse and worse in the garage and shop. I started last afternoon in the garage, somehow cleaned out the spot DH has been putting his stuff in, moving most of it back into the shop. Worked on it this morning (did not go to church, that would have taken some effort I did not have.) A lot of throw away, empty paint cans, broken parts, moving stuff around. Container marked miscellaneous is full and overflowing...stuff DH just leaves everywhere, mostly in my garage right at the door to the laundry room. That is cleaned off now as best I can. I have the recycle bin full and the garbage can almost full. I checked bottoms of a lot of cans, something leaked and ruined a shelf. Something sticky and hardened all over the floor back there. I had my utility scraper getting that up off the floor and swept up that area.

I find stuff DH has just bought more of because he does not know where / what is back there. Odds and ends which might have been helpful if he still had a full time job using these things...but most have outlived their usefulness. He won't be happy but I don't care. We need to get unstuck around here.

I was up around nine and have been piddling around here. For maybe thirty minutes, I've been in the back yard with the dog, letting her drag the leash around. She's clearing thinking hard about what has changed out there with those pesky white flags, but she did play some too. Who knew she could catch a bounced ball in her mouth?

Dh, who had been complaining about his blood sugar being high last night and this a.m., went out for a walk to bring it down, and took the dog on a lap. I need to remember the reminder for when he comments about it: better nutrition, exercise, or medication are the tools he has to work with. It's his call what he does.

We have nothing on the calendar today and I hope it stays that way. I'm making some chili for our supper because dh suggested and bought ground turkey at Costco yesterday. We have a lot of leftovers still and I may freeze some.

I need to get unstuck with regard to a next "project." I have some older work I could recycle as a potential article for publication or I could focus on some of the problems I've flitted through in the last couple of months and research/write. I think it set me for a loop finding the father of my William. I need additional research to be at the "reasonably exhaustive" point tho.

good day to you all!

Getting stuck: I had been stuck for the last 2 months
Unstuck: routines and placing things where they belong have helped free me the last week. I needed the help from the girls to get caught up with everything and organizing dh's supplies. Once that was done, I felt that I was in a better frame of mind and out of the hole that I had gotten myself into.

Doing one small job a day - that I felt was blocking me to do other things seemed to help. I just couldn't do more. I am better today. (it will happen again but for this single moment I feel okay).

d harmony - I too, didn't have bandwidth, mental capacity, to get my thoughts down or even deal with them. There was too much in my brain. I understand!
well done on the seat covers!

hi d rose - outside work makes you healthy! and now after a shower - I bet you feel good!
yay on your water and your steps.

d Nancy yay on Sunday being from sticky to strong! great attitude.
so happy that prayer helped you with your inside strength!
journaling does help healing!

hi d harriet! sticky notes are my adversary when I have a 100 different things in my head. I list too many things that I can't possibly do and they all yell at me: You didn't do it! I write down one thing and then I am okay but anything else - I go into panic mode 8-)

so glad your children will be there today.

hi d lady! I love when our kids learn about life re: the play and the reality of taking care of others, home and what ever. Yesterday dd older said - I have been telling everyone to rinse there dishes and put them in the dw..... I wonder where oh where she had heard that before. Then she said - my system works - same thing I have been asking for years = oh my goodness I smiled at her and dd younger laughed. dd younger said "sounds familiar". :D

the rice crispy treats sound great - enjoy your day

d Kathryn glad the tests turned out okay! thank you so much for helping us to move our day forward positively instead of being stuck in the day. have a good day!

hi d twins - dh complains too - he told me he just wants to say he is frustrated instead of me taking care of it. I have to admit that right now I can't let him do what he wants and he is not happy with me. I hope your day is wonderful!!!

hello everyone.

dh I think is getting sick again bc he has been stubborn about using the machine that puts mist in his trac.(yes it's very loud) I think he is getting an infection. I will talk to the pulmonologist on Tuesday. The ent said he has to use it.

dh's sisters stopped by - it was very nice!

Found out that he washed his hair in the sink upstairs  Now he doesn't want to take a shower even though he has been without one for quite a while. I will have to insist. His skin is bad.
He also is giving me the evil eye bc he has to do his pt and speech therapy.
So I won't be popular today ;)
I think that because I don't like conflict; I get in my own way.

We had an ice storm and the neighbors tree behind us and on the side broke off onto our side. The neighbor next to us's branch was all the way down on top of my apple tree. I call someone to cut the dead branches and trim up the tree. The neighbor to the right of us talked to them and took all the wood that was all over our side. I don't mind him taking it but it would have been nice to have asked. I paid for it all. But moving forward - dd's were both shocked. I wasn't surprised and laughed - not ha ha but more yep that's him.

dd younger is leaving today - poor dd older is crying bc she will miss both her sister and the dog
