That short end of February caught up with me.
And the week is flying by.
How about you!

Sorry I didn't post yesterday but the day kept exploding like one of those fireworks that keeps bursting into something new as the first burst of light starts to fade.
It started at 7:20 when I got a text saying ds was on his way and would be there at 7:45.
I expected them at 10.
I had plans for those first 2 hours of the day. They burst.
(Turns out that TG was in extreme neck and shoulder pain, insisted on going to work but couldn't drive, so ds dropped her at 6:45, then went out to get stuff from her parents' home, putting off arriving at my place to as late as possible.)
Oh, well, ds is there too so he can watch dgs. He did give him breakfast (I got one thing done) but then TG called to say she was being sent home because she couldn't work. So ds headed off to get her, leaving me with dgs' care. Burst!
I got the load of laundry hung up to dry and cleaned up the kitchen, played a little with dgs then it was time to give him 'lunch' (at 10:20). Ds and TG arrived, dgs was watching dh on the exercise bike so I got her settled with a heating pad and then took dgs, protesting, away from dh and gave him lunch, changed him, put him down for a nap. He was exhausted (up at 5:30 due to getting to the hospital on time) so went down well.
I got ds settled with a suitcase for the trip. That had actually been on my list for the day!
Ds and TG left at 11:30 to get her to an emergency chiropractor appointment. But dgs slept so I got a couple of things off my list.
When ds got back he asked if I had ever met D. I hadn't but knew who he was part of the friends ds has in London. Ds had had a rough day (on top of everything else) and wanted to explain what was up.
D had texted "Dude?" at 3 a.m. but ds was asleep. (This isn't unusual, if ds is on an overnight shift, friends who are up will text all night.) Ds replied at 5:30 but no reply. He had a bad feeling because a 12 year old who he has been an 'uncle' to all her life had closed all chats with him the night before and D was close friends with the kids' mom. He had TG check out FB feeds and the mom had posted "My family is all fine but hold your loved ones tight." Turns out D's daughter, 15, committed suicide. When ds and his family hang out with the folks from London, she was close to DC. So ds was hit by this suicide even more than others he had dealt with (in the ER) since this is the first time he had a family member of the same age.
Any plans I had of doing anything, except listening and hugging, burst.
Dgs stirred and we woke him, dressed him, and he headed off to the children's hospital for a hearing test (part of the speech therapy.)
I scrambled to get a minimum done before my 2:15 meeting and succeeded.
While at the meeting in the social room, dh texted that he has pre-op today at 8. If he passes (he has a cold), it means surgery on Friday. Big Burst!
But I'm still in that meeting and two follow on connections, so I don't get upstairs until almost 5. Along the way, a neighbour replaces my broken tea pot (I had posted about it on FB) from their collection. That was a high point of the day (aside from cuddles with dgs.)
I start the baby laundry (another burst - they had new clothes delivered for while they are away since the kid doesn't stop growing). Started the dishwasher and we headed out for dinner, library, groceries, then dropping me at the other building so I could do deliveries.
At dinner I realize that the resident tenant group is blowing up over rent increases, my text messages had blown up from the kids (about their dad's upcoming surgery) and I'm as stressed as all get out.
Had a predictable bad sleep.
On the plus side, I got Wordle in 3.
Still I managed lights out by 10.30.

Oh, Kathryn! You’ve had a day, haven’t you? And it sounds like you’ve got quite the week ahead of you.
Nothing big planned for today, though it’s supposed to be gorgeous here. The sun’s out, and the high is supposed to be 65F. We’ll probably “only” get to 60 here by the lake. Unfortunately, recent rain means that my bench outside is sitting in the mud, so if I want to hang out outside, it will be on the stoop. *sigh*
The only thing on the agenda is to take DC to school — yikes! We need to leave in an hour, and I haven’t showered! See everyone later, I hope!

I did NOT spend any time reading after I got into bed last night. I finally got out of bed after dh went to get his coffee. Last night he said he HAD to go get groceries at the store in Niagara Falls first thing in the morning. He insisted we needed a lot of stuff from there. When I got 2 packages of meat out of the chest freezer yesterday, it sure didn't look like we were in desperate need of meat. Dh has 6 navel oranges and 2 1/2 bags of grapes, so he doesn't need fruit. He also has asparagus, a new bag of onions and a large bag of carrots, plus all the frozen veggies, so we don't need veggies. We have milk and yogurt. I don't know what he thinks we need, but I don't want to drive all the way there.
I am so happy that it's March! Spring is in 19 more days!
I'm going to unload and reload the dishwasher.

I dropped dh at the hospital at 8:00 a.m. and then went to Walmart and picked up a few groceries. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich and I had bought croissants, so ate breakfast in the car.
I've been surfing on my phone trying to relax. It isn't working.
DH should be done anytime now so I won't go home, I'll just pick him up and head to DD's to pick up Winnie the Pooh, dgd's stuffy who she is giving to Dh while he's at the hospital so he won't be alone. Then to the Costco and then home. I have my planner to make notes in should I think of anything but right now it is a wall of panic and looking forward to cuddles with dgs. The other grands are jealous he gets 10 days with us. I said they can come and stay for more than a night or two but not for 3 months!
I rolled the time back on my phone and did yesterday's Wordle which got lost in all the scramble. Got it in three, too.

Morning…
Kathryn, sounds like you had a pretty crazy day yesterday. Hope today is better.
Well I went to my class class this morning, did all my morning routines and waters my plants. A neighbor stopped by with her standard poodle and we chatted for a while outside. Brought Sweetie out to meet her and her pup ..I’ve told him several times about both of them and she ended inviting us over for wine tomorrow evening.
That may mess with my eating plan, but I’m not gonna loose sleep over it because sometimes life happens and this will give me an opportunity to meet more of my neighbors.
In the meantime I still have a few things to do before I meet my ddil and grands at the pool. I am looking forwards to that and being outside for a while.
Meant to say yesterday I sure wish my steps would count while doing chores. I did a lot of vacuuming and mopping but my counter on my wrist didn’t catch all of it. Something when I grocery shop. It’s hard to push the cart one handed
Harmony… I sure don’t envy you! BTDT in my younger years. You deserve a break today my dear!

Unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. Washed the floor in the bathroom and the hallway. I have some casserole dishes soaking in the sink.
Pipes are gurgling and the toilet won't flush properly, so dh is going out to check the pump again.
Dh went to the grocery store in the falls. Came back with grapes and oranges and a red pepper.

((((Kathryn)))) What a day you had! I found myself getting anxious and repeating the Serenity Prayer as I was reading about your day. If Ken has surgery on Friday how does that fit with your schedule to full time care of DGS?
My day is having a great start with only a couple bumps that were able to be handled. I needed to do a couple monthly tasks so I could monitor my hours and know that the things I want to do are getting done. I created a daily journal template for March and set up the hourly schedule of all the days in March. I didn't time how long it took me to do these, but I think it was less than 30 minutes.
I have all the pieces of tonight's meal with the church family prepped. 120 Hot dogs and hot links, 120 buns, 15 lbs of chili, sauerkraut, potato salad, potato chips, desserts = cookies, pies and brownies. It is a fairly simple meal and I have a timeline for when to do what in order for everything to come together at once. Now it is just a matter of following the plan. I will start at 1pm and serve the meal at 5:45pm. 1pm-4pm will only need my attention to stir the chili as it simmers. I will be totally hands-on doing everything else from 4pm-5:45pm.
Homeschool is in progress.
