What will you do with flair today?

Does anyone say to you, "You have a flair for that!" Now a quiz... .. what is it? :?

Time to remember what you're good at, wins you've pulled off, what you can be counted on to do well! Homemakers are so used to surprising with "saves", with making those points at the buzzer, with managing the impossible. We tend to forget how terrific we are!

I'm all over the place this a.m. I've straightened up for dcleaning lady, but not as much as I hoped. I need to go to the grocery but I need to finish the list perhaps. Dd called, I couldn't answer then, and when I called back, she said she would call me back. And then dh called because I accidently hit hit number when calling dd back. And I got distracted and took ddog out front door to walk wiht her fence collar on. I'm hoping for no repercussions from that. I was hoping to go to deed office at court house today but see they're closing at noon for possible bad weather. And I still haven't had breakfast.

So without further ado:
-breakfast and meds/vitamins
-as I eat, work on grocoery list
-take off for deed office then grocery? Storms supposed to hit 1 to 2 p.m. so I may not make it to courthouse.

When I woke up this morning dh asked if I would like to go out for breakfast. I got dressed right away and off we went.

After breakfast we went to a grocery store to the west of us. I wanted some soft Italian cookies that they usually have in stock. We also got bread for the freezer. They didn't have the yogurt I wanted.

Storm is supposed to be rolling in around mid afternoon.

We will be having chicken for supper.

Back from my morning coffee gathering.

Went to class first, still needs to make my beds. I have laundry to fold and needed desk work to do.

Didn’t get all my steps in yesterday because they changed some of the routines in my class. I count on the class to get me going with my steps, so it didn’t happen. However I ate my dinner before going over to my friends home and ended up eating three large shrimp and a half a glass of wine. I’m good with that

Today at the gathering they had my favorite donuts. I help with the gathering’s set up so the donuts were in my face multiple times…as much as I wanted one I just focused on drinking my coffee. :D

My thinking on posting that topic today was that I was able to come to the rescue on dd24's paralysis about what to wear to work. Amazingly, I have a flair for collecting things called "classics". :| And long decades of experience have taught me that they work with other items to make more than one outfit. I know, surprising, right? Who could have guessed? Solid black no-fad plain slacks - a revelation. (btw, I've lost a pair of black slacks now, I think) Solid black sleeveless camisole. (also probably gone) Lightweight cardigans with black in them. Gasp - more than one answer to what to wear. "Thanks, Mom! You saved my LIFE."

Then, "don't these high-heeled strappy shoes look great?" (Yes) "These will be fine all day Friday, don't you think?" (She's going from work to a play tonight.) "They'll be comfortable enough. I can put up with it." (me - maniacal laughter) She wants to know WHY do I do this to her... .. I told her because I'm your friend, not your yes-man. Take your black sneakers. Get a bag. Put them in it. TAKE the sneakers.

My day is progressing but not at speed. I'm slow today. Got the dishes handled up to a point. I made breakfast in time for lunch. Tobias is nagging more than usual, so I guess he can tell he'd better get in his requests before I fizzle.

HRH is in my good graces because he rushed to take off his jacket and put it over me in a sudden rain outside the med building when the car was at a distance. I said something about Sir Walter Raleigh to him and he quipped back about mud puddles being a bridge too far.

I slept well last night but stayed too long in one position, which has its own touchy problems. Oh well, I really needed the rest.

Cathy, I hope the storm causes no problems. How fun to spontaneously dash out for breakfast together.

lucylee, I don't find the age of your paint to be some big shock. If it's a color you like, enjoy it.

:?: Btw, question - do ya'll find that Command strips have worked for you without marring, discoloring or tearing away from the wall? I wanted to use some and am surprised to learn that HRH doesn't trust them on our plaster walls. We have a new paint job (one year old) and the contractors used spray method, so if anything, I would say it's a more substantial application of paint than roller... .. isn't that an even better surface for Command strips? It's not glossy paint but high quality latex and brags on being washable.

I got to the store. Before I could finish eating and think a little, dd called back and we finally made arrangements for her to come here for Passover. She'll come in on Wed April 5 and leave on Sunday. We told her we would pay the difference between a flight into ATL vs flying on to here so we don't have to pick her up in ATL and take her back. So she needed to talk about that, and we got her flight booked on my credit card and she'll reimburse me for her part.

I felt I only had time to go on to the grocery so I at least got that done. I can go to the courthouse for the deed next week.

We're already under a tornado watch so I'm probably not going upstairs to work, lol. Dog is on the screened porch. I'm sure she'll come in if it's raining hard.

Update, temple cancelled dinner following services tonight. They may still have services only.

I'm feeling at loose ends this afternoon. There's lots I "should" do, but little that I want to do.

I don't think I have much flair these days. More like flop. Anyway, y'all remember one of the first felt tipped pens was called Flair? I had a red one.

Harriet, HRH sure is a keeper!

Study today was very nice. We do pass around a notebook for prayer requests and we get an email list of them. So they knew my problems at the house. Walking after class, I confided to our teacher who is an absolutely wonderful, very-together lady, why things were so hard here, re: DH. She told me she's going through similar with her DH. I had no idea. I know nobody in real life here on this same path. It was an eye opener. She said that's why they had to move to a condo. Well, her condo is more like a very nice, big town home separated from the next by their garages. But once inside it's exactly like a big house. How I wish I could find one of those in our town.

I drove up to next town and got another return accomplished. I had no receipt but they found it by looking at the credit card online. I dropped off my donations at the thrift too.

We don't have tornado warnings but it is really really windy today. Driving back down from the town to the north I actually came through so much dust blowing around it was like driving in fog. We're past the wind being shown on weather maps, but we're definitely getting some of it.

I think I'll take it easy for a bit.

Harriet - Thanks for the start today and encouragement to give flair a thought.

Because I'm in homeschool mode.....TIP: flAIR means a certain “AIR” about you. It’s always a noun. FLARE can be a noun or a verb, but if it’s a verb you want for your sentence, use FLARE.

My day is going smoothly with all but one task completed that are assigned to the first 7 hours of my day.

I spent some time today playing with plants/seeds and updating the documentation for them.
** Swiss Chard seeds (mixed color & large white) were planted in raised bed.
** Cauliflower seedlings were ready to be transplanted into individual containers.
** Brussel sprout seedlings were also ready for individual pots.
** Sweet banana pepper seeds are starting to sprout. They were slow to germinate, and I was almost ready to give up on them.
** California Wonder bell pepper seeds were planted and put on the heat mat
** Asparagus bed was checked to see if anything is growing yet. I pulled some of the mulch back on a few of the plants to let the ground warm up in the bright sunshine.

Command strips and plaster walls. Long term success with them but they have not been removed yet. The only one I took down was only there a few months. Absolutely no sign it was ever there.

We had one up for years that broke and removing the strip after the fact left no mark at all. But that was on a painted board not on the plaster.

My neighbors use them all the time because drilling hooks into plaster walls can be tricky. And here sometimes the plaster has concrete behind it.
