it's Saturday! Name the one thing that you would like to do

Happy Saturday!

Yesterday my daughter said to me that I had gone back to the habit of thinking I should do it all. The house had been a tip all week and I wasn't getting anything done. Don't get me wrong, I was working!

She said to me - I have been telling her for years - "you are a perfectionist". You want to wait until the perfect moment to finish. She just figured it out

my daughter mentioned to me that I "wasn't finishing the process". I think she had heard that over the years and for the most part I had followed through. She knew what was needed but I couldn't see it. I had dropped the habit that I had worked so hard to cultivate in myself. My ADHD had led me back to stuff all over.

Yesterday, with dd older help and her born organized focus, the house went back in order. It was funny to see how I left a path of destruction as I worked.
What I saw once she helped me focus:

garbage bags left at the door to go to the bin
recycling left all over the washing machine - waiting to get to their bin
dishes put all over
food that I thought I would prep for the perfect dinner, all over the counters
a dirty stove bc I was going to get to it when I did the counters
and... every toy, bone, scrap a paper, a cat can that the dogs had grabbed through out the week.

it was like an archeological dig of my week, with out the digging.

What is sitting out that maybe needs to be finished all the way through? is there a counter that should have things that need put away?
Are there papers sitting that need to be put in place.

What is the one thing that you see that needs your focus.

You have got this! I wish you the best day ever. Follow through the process!

Hi, Blessed!

I'm starting in here. Today is my sabbath! I decided to borrow from my Jewish friends and have started taking a Sabbath in line with the Jewish week.

Now, I have a few events I am going to today, and I will do meal prep, shop, and drive, but the point of the sabbath is "no hurry, no worry" If I am experiencing strife or haste, I need to refocus. This is a day to enjoy, to rejuvenate. The events are choices I am making, not obligations.

So, in keeping with the Sabbath, I have no "must dos" today, except relax, read some books, maybe, and just enjoy this cap to my week. :)

Good morning!

I am posting while sitting in walmart parking lot eating my greek yogurt and blueberries. I do live such an exciting life! :)

Ds14 and I were out of the house before 6am to get him to class on time. He has requested subway for li lunch so i will puck it up and be back at school in a couple hours.

I have decided to go to all the garden center that i can find and have time to visit while I'm spending time in the city.

Somehow I missed what this class is DS14 has to take, Lady M? Know he had tests to complete before it. Wishing him luck with so much (sitting) class time.

Dh went to the Solar Bears Hockey game last night in Orlando with dd. Said he once again was treated like royalty. Know it did him good mentally. Did say he had a hard time sleeping (I, OTOH, had one of my best nights in a long time). But I'm sure all the socializing and the stimulation of just the game kept his brain going. We know all about that, don't we!

Dh just came in to ask me if I wanted to go to his DB's house. Right now? Oh I had such grand plans. But then he said he wants to rest a while. So maybe, just maybe I can get the kitchen cleaned and our checking account balanced. Sure it's been a while since I did that.

Found myself thinking (again) about whether to drive dh up north or stay here and go later. Guess maybe the answer will come to me as I watch him over the next week. I don't really have a lot of time to wait to make an air reservation for him if that's what we decide. I really wish he weren't going up there yet. But I don't see how I can possibly let him go/stay alone. He's not ready, but I'm sure he doesn't want to admit that. On a good note his weight seems to be stabilizing finally and he's not feeling so bad afternoons. So we'll see how the next 5 days go.

We'll have all next week pretty much alone. DD/Dsonil are going to GA for a few days' get-away.

Hi, Kimmie, we are Jewish and consider today as Shabbat, although we're Reform so not strictly observant. I do limit my to-dos most Saturdays and I consider Sabbath rest to be an opportunity to nap in the afternoon. Dh goes to Torah study every Saturday although he's mainly there to socialize. He cooks the breakfast there too.

I decided, on the spur on the moment, to go to services last night. This week (actually last Sunday) was my brother's yartzeit - the anniversary of his death. I can't believe it's been five years. After services I hurried home to the webinar - got here, made a sandwich and got upstairs and signed in just a little late.

I don't know what I'm going to do when the time changes tomorrow. Left on my own I slept to nearly 10 a.m. this morning.

We're going to a "Crawfish boil" tonight. Hopefully it's shrimp? This is at the home of a coworker of dh so I do think (hope) I know some people. Dfriend M is out of town for the day, so I am to walk R uby around 1, and then feed her and let her out in the yard or walk before we go out this evening - should be around five or so. So it looks like we won't be able to spend time with our "River friends" unless we go for just a little while today. Weather today is to be much nicer than tomorrow, too, but it can't be helped.

Dee, glad your dh had a great time, I know it was good for both of you for him to get out. And will be good for the two of you with dd and dsil away for a few days too.

What fun LadyM to go to a garden center!

Bw2, I know what you mean about finishing the process. Yesterday when I cleaned the bathroom I left comet and 409 spray behind on the kitchen counter. My house looks so much better when he cleaning lady is done than when I finish cleaning, and some of it is that she puts away everything and returns furniture to its place after vacuuming.

A customer/friend came and plowed our driveway out. Dh sat in here and grumbled. I was happy this guy came and did it because dh is still sick, even though he won't admit it. His voice is still rough sounding and he just doesn't look "good"'. I have no energy today. I'm going to stay home from knitting again today.

We are having cabbage rolls and pierogies for supper.

It definitely was quite a while since I balanced our checking account, but at least now it's done. Although I was off $12 (to the good) and I just can't find it. So I went with their balance. I can always change it.

Actually dh went in and laid down to 'rest' for a while and of course he's sleeping. So, now that the checking account is done, guess I'll check out the kitchen. Next week with dd and dsonil gone things should be a piece of cake. I can also cook to dh's and my liking -some things I haven't been able to do up till now. One is cabbage soup so need to get that recipe out so I'm sure I have all the ingredients. Sure it might taste good to dh. Everything mostly tastes metallic to him. Not sure why as he's not taking anything new except maybe the iron. The Eliquis we suspected of doing that he's been off for 4 weeks now.

Thank you for the nice opening, blessed. It's exactly the stuff I do around here, though maybe not as much as you. I typically don't fold / put away my clean laundry right away. It sits in the basket or hangs up on the hook. I guess I have too many clothes if I can do that? Sometimes my counter needs attention because it is in the middle of doing things....like right now.... and that's the problem with my desk too. I don't find the process of putting everything in the inbox to keep the top tidy helpful. I miss things in there and they go too long. So I leave stuff right out on top, mail to sort, bill to pay, letter to answer, etc. The only thing that works for is the filing, which I keep in an inbox behind the hutch door. That stuff is already done and I don't worry about it till I have enough to bother filing it all. For me it's the perfectionist gene, wait to do things till I can do them right. You're not alone!

Saturday isn't my Sabbath but I do like to take it more easy because typically Friday has been very busy and often Thursday too. So I'm usually bushed Saturday and if I do too much, I'm tired for church on Sunday. I could go back to sleep right now...but I'm planning to go out and trim some bushes outside. If I can get up and go out.

Kimmy, so if you work all week and take most of Saturday off, that only leaves Sunday to do everything else? I'm too old to do everything on one day now, so I try to keep my routines going and do a bit of something every day. Oh to be young again!

I don't know what happened to that other website. A long while ago they fixed it so if one wasn't registered over there they couldn't just go in and read stuff. I'm surprised to read it might be all gone.

I was copying recipes on my cards to get rid of the loose papers in the cabinet and get my recipe box up to date. And now I'll go out in the sun and trim bushes. Boy I really want a nap!
