I have no imagination or inspiration but am opening up the village for the day.

I'm working hard on remembering what day of the week it is. And what time it is. Time kind of mushes together when you aren't leaving a room.

I didn't move around enough yesterday so had less than optimal sleep last night. Still a 3 hour and 2 hour stretch and I woke up feeling good but not great. I won't take decongestant today and see if I can manage without it. (I stopped anti-histamines on Thursday.)

I did the surgery recovery morning stretches today out on the balcony. My intention this time was to do all his exercises with him but, just like in 2021, Covid has got in the way. Because he couldn't go outside for his walk, I can't walk with him. And now I can't even sit beside him to do the morning stretches (last time I managed that until he gave them up about 4 weeks early and switched to his more difficult stretches.)

He's up and s2s. He said that he slept better last night and he feels a lot better. He's down another kg (it was the same as the AM when he went to bed so he 'lost' it overnight.) He showered standing up (but with the stool still in the shower stall in case he felt weak) and didn't get winded with the bending and lifting of his arms. Another test will be later today when he puts on his shoes. At least he can put on shoes and socks now on his own, it took 5 days before he could and he achieved that on Monday, the day before I went into isolation and couldn't do it for him.

I'm going for a walk outside today with or without dh. The weather is around freezing and grey (it was snowing on me while I did the stretches but so humid that I didn't feel cold even though I was just in my fluffy dressing gown and slippers.) If it warms up any, I might have my breakfast out on the balcony just so I don't have to eat in my little isolation cell. I'm pretty sick of being in here and wonder if that is part of why I didn't sleep well.

I didn't get any computer work done yesterday but I'll try again today.

Thank you for starting us, Kathryn. I felt so disconnected and distracted yesterday. It was hard to get anything done.

Our neighbors came over around 6:30 with snacks and flowers and we all ended up sitting on the screened porch instead of building a fire. It was just too warm for the fire and the porch is such a nice place to hang out. They didn't leave until 10:30ish and I was awake another 45 min. winding down and reading a bit on my own. I am feeling very peopled out right now with dh and I being together so much and people last night.

But we are going to the river today with our friends and that will be a long day. Trying to explain it to dh and he doesn't get it of course. And tomorrow, I need to be out of the house for appt with CPAP doc at 10:15 and then workout. And need to go to the post office to find out why they haven't restarted delivering our mail since we were away.

I just want some quiet time at home by myself.

We drove to the Falls and got dh some fruit. (Grapes and plums) It was very windy here all night, enough that I could hear it over the fan. I was sure we would either lose a tree or at least some large branches, but everything looks okay from here. Lots of outages all around us last night and trees and utility poles were down in the falls.

I got a chicken to roast for supper. We also went out for breakfast at a very busy tourist-y restaurant. There seemed to be a lot of staff, so I asked our waitress how many staff were working today. She said 17, although sometimes they have up to 40 staff between the front and the back during the July 1-4 long weekend.

So, there will be a roast chicken for supper. Now that the pipes have stopped gurgling, I need to do dishes. Laundry is all caught up. I did towels, etc., yesterday.

Morning….

Yesterday I spent 2.5 hours face timing with all my friends. We were celebrating the passing of one of our friends that o had know for over 20 years. Many of my friends knew her much longer. We all taught together and have continued our ring of friendship.

I realize I am now the “Elder” of our group.

I had an interesting start to my morning. Sweetie came inside and said I had two snakes caught in the netting I had put over my sunnies. Sure enough when went outside I found two Black Races dead in my nets, and they looked like something had attacked them.

I’m not scared or bothered by snake, but I’m not happy being around poisonous ones. These racers were almost 4’ long and are goods to have around because they eat rodents and other critters. It really bothered me to find them so tangled in my nets that I spent part of my morning fixing my nets so the snakes would be safe if they slithered by my pots.

My home is in perfect shape with all footprints picked up, laundry done as well as my house blessings. I’m headed to the grocery store in a while and want to stop at Lowe’s. I had to ditch one of my plants because it had some kind of fungal growing on it and I want to replace it. I also need a few bags of planting dirt as I have a few seeds and plants I want to put outside

I rearranged my dinning area…had to move the placement of the table when we were redoing the lania, and I like the way it looks now. The rug I bought for is is too big now. Not a problem because I can put that rug in my master bed, but now I need to figure out how big the dinning room rug needs to be.

In the I’m quite pleased with myself department. I bought two big rolling plant stands to put my big plant pots on. Sweetie and I had to assemble them first. Sweeties mental problems really showed up then. Anyway once done we needed to put the pots on the stands. They were extremely heavy and awkward to move. Took us some time, but we gotter done. One thing about Sweetie is he hasn’t lost any of his strength thank goodness and I really count on that. He does a 100 push-up most nights… in the closet cause we have carpeting there.

Not bad for a 76 year old!

Busy start to my day to get to early service while making sure the kids and DH were on track to arrive for later services. DS14 spent the night with a friend and I was texting with him to make sure he arrived at church on time.

I had 2 little ones for the first part of early service nursery - Sophia (2 years old) and Thea (4 years old). Then Fisher & Finnick (3 year old twins) arrive. Lincoln (7 month old) and Ryan (2 year old) quickly followed. Irik (2 year old) soon joined in. So having 7 littles in the nursery keeps things lively and the time passed quickly. All of these toddlers and babies are super easy to care for, but with only one caregiver it is constant hands on to keep up with them.

My small group were putting tabs on their Bibles today, so I skipped that (my Bible already has tabs) and came home. My ears are sounding weird with the silence in the house. I'm not used to the silence of being alone.

I have no plans for lunch. We will either have grilled cheese sandwiches or go out to eat. I'll let DH and the kids decide which one.

We ate lunch at local Mexican restaurant. It was good food, but it makes me cringe at the cost. We can afford it financially, but it bugs me that it was over $80 for the four of us to eat. My brain starts analyzing the ingredients and how much it would have cost to prepare that food at home (less than $20) But more than the cost is how much higher quality & better tasting it would have been at home. On the other hand, eating out has the big plus of the convenience of eating with no shopping/no prep/no cleanup.

Yesterday I planted the first 5 tomato and pepper plants. Today I intend to plant a few more in the raised beds. It is over 2 weeks early before our typical last frost, so I am taking a risk.

I am picking a few tomato and asparagus spears daily and eat them immediately.

I did a bunch of pots and pans and filled the dishwasher. It's going now. All 5 "burners" on the stove have clean stuff on them, plus the rack is full. There are some odds and ends in the sink and just pan that hasn't been washed. I think that's the most caught up I've been on dishes in forever. Maybe it just seems like forever.

Chicken is in the oven with lemons and onions in the cavity and underneath it. Lots of salt and pepper and oil on top. I also put a sweet potato in the oven for dh. Asparagus is going in shortly.

Supper is at 5 if anyone is heading this way.

Dh is watching Lone state Law, I think. The game warden keeps throwing fish back in and giving people tickets. Of course everyone says they didn't know they couldn't fish without a license. LOL!!

Cathy - Thanks for sharing that show. I hadn't heard of it but found an episode to watch.

DBro & DSisIL called to chat while they were driving to check cows. They told about their adventures yesterday. They were checking cows when they saw a Momma cow giving birth. One of the calf feet was out and most of the time the cow doesn't need help, so they left her alone while they checked the rest of the herd and fed/watered. When they came back 2 feet were out, but it was the back feet (not good). At that point the calf was hip-locked, so they had to act fast to save the cow. There was no pens to put the mamma cow, so they had to use what they had available in the middle of the pasture. DBro roped the cow and secured her to the bumper of his pickup. He was able to deliver the calf (dead) and save the cow.. When DBro went to take the rope off the mama cow she attacked him and knocked him down. DBro was on his back with the cow coming for him so he was trying to roll under the pickup to get away from the fierce Mama cow. About that time the cow slipped & fell which saved DBro. DSisIL told about the number of stickers that was in DBro's clothing and skin. She has been pulling stickers out of DBro's for hours.

I have push mowed some brown and green clippings for compost.

Next up = Plan next week homeschool assignments and get them on DS14 calendar.
