If you sense you are heading down the wrong path for the week, pause, evaluate, and turn around if necessary.

You don't have to hope that continuing forward on a meandering path with pauses at every distraction will get you to where you are going.

It might.

But it might not.

Worse it will likely take more energy than turning around and setting out again.

If your week needs a reboot, take it!

I'm still on a good track for the week but had a roughish night. Better than the night before.

Dh was up to take his heart rate multiple times. It was never under 140. I was in bed a bit late because of an early start this morning. His appointment at the Heart Institute will be at 8:15. I'll be there with him this time to ask my questions and hear all the answers.

His call yesterday (while I was out) had them recommend Biotine for his dry mouth so I picked that up along with his warfarin on the way home. He enjoyed his dinner of fettuccini but couldn't finish it all. I had a grilled cheese, bacon, and onion sandwich because I needed something easy to make in order to free up time in the bedroom.

The hospital bed won't be picked up until Monday (they are open that day) so I had to rearrange many things in the room in order to find a place for it that didn't block my closet doors. The room looks fine this way and it gave me a chance to vacuum under a lot of the furniture that is seldom moved. I note there is a layer of dust on the sides of things like the sea chest so I need to go through the room with a damp cloth.

I had a quiet evening since dinner ended up at 6:45.

Today is the appointment (I leave in 25 minutes) and then an open day to finish up the housework. Yesterday was very successful.

I also need to plan meals for this month. I had put that off while I waited to figure out dh's dry mouth issues, I just wish he had asked that question a week ago since the Biotine cost $25 and I suspect it will only be used for a few days.

Tomorrow is an ice storm so I also have to get groceries in for that although I got milk yesterday so we may be in good shape.

The normal things I do are captured in hourly tasks. I mark them off as they are completed. But the extra things that I don't want to forget to do today are floating around in my memory (not the greatest method to make sure they get done)
** Vote! Our small town is deciding who will be on town council. There are 7 people running for 3 seats. Estimated to take 30 minutes.
** Suburban to dealership to get a/c fixed. I will take a laptop and hopefully get some productive work done while there. It is estimated to take 4 hours.
** Meat (liver & hamburger) in the refrigerator that needs to be cooked. The estimated time is 40 minutes.
** I have 8lbs of chili meat that needs to be cooked and ingredients added. Estimate time is 1 hour
** Put shopping list on refrigerator at church. I forgot to do it Sunday and the supplies are needed for tomorrow night's meal. Oops. Estimate time is 30 minutes
Hum.... i appears that I have 6.5 hours of extra time needed today. Obviously, some normal things will not be accomplished. I am planning to have a good day and boredom will not be an issue I will need to deal with today.

I had a good night's sleep, falling asleep at some point before midnight after I finished the book I was reading. (Merry Christmas Alex Cross)

Woke up before 8 long enough to kiss dh good morning and then I fell asleep for another hour and here I am.

Didn't get to the dishes last night, so I need to get back on track with those. Back hall was gritty under my slippers when I put some stuff into the washing machine, so floors need to be swept and washed.

No other plans for the day. I've had my allergy pill, so I will see how that goes. I'm not planning any naps.

I'm sure there is curling today.

It's very foggy here and dh said it's been raining.

DH is not thinking clearly today. He is fine but just not his normal self. It really pushed him mentally to be in the city for 10 hours yesterday. He needs some down time to recover. He has an extremely grueling day coming up on Thursday (taking his DSis for surgery) so hopefully with a couple of days of normal doings he will be mentally refreshed and ready. I think of what Harmony said about the good side of having family nearby. I agree but there are also down sides to it. Taking care of family members can be draining when it is non-stop. We just finished decades of caring for our parents and now it is our siblings that need our help. Not even mentioning the elephant in the room...full time raising our grandkids. I can't imagine what our lives would be like without having family nearby, but I do know we would have a lot of extra time, energy, and money to put somewhere else.

I am finishing my breakfast smoothie and will be out the door in about 10 minutes.

I swept all 5 floors and washed 4 of them.

I'm having some yogurt while the floors dry. Both older cats are outside in the rain. They are under the patio table watching the birds. Youngest cat has been meowing pitifully because she wants to go out.

Dh and I are going out for all-you-can-eat fish and chips tonight. There are numerous places serving fish and chips this Friday, but dh doesn't sound enthused by any of those options.

I am set up at my temporary desk in the dealership waiting room. Free Wi-Fi, drinks, and nearby bathrooms. There are about a dozen people talking in near proximity to me, but I can relegate them to background noise. Let productivity begin!

The appointment at the Heart Institute was quicker today since dh had the blood draw yesterday and there was no need for the x-ray. A number of changes were made to the meds including dropping the awful Lasix. Woot!

We hit the car wash on the way home. There was a long wait for that but I also got the monthly plan cancelled as of the 20th and will go back to buying 12 or 6 wash prepaid card for the summer. In the summer a rain storm can go a long way to cleaning a car so we don't need washes 3 - 4x a month so drop off the monthly plan and pick it back up when the salting of the roads returns.

I dropped dh at the lobby door and then pulled into the guest parking lot and cleaned up the interior a bit. It will need to be detailed in the spring but for now I wanted to wipe off a lot of the kids' boot prints and brush as much dried salt and grip off the floor mats as I could. I wiped down the door sills as well and cleaned the screen and the 'piano finish' console. I know most people hate the gloss black finish, but I like it and don't mind having to wipe it down every few weeks.

I feel better having the car cleaner on the inside now. I feel out of sorts when it looks too messy. I don't mind the kids making a mess, but I don't like to leave it that way and it should have been wiped down 6 weeks ago but the stress was too high in my life and I just couldn't manage it. The car hasn't been to the car wash for just over 4 weeks. Again, while I've been out lots with it, and nearby, I just didn't have the bandwidth to run it through.

I need to get going on the housework again, but too a break to warm up (the sun rudely went away and I was working with water and no gloves so I got really cold.)

Kathryn- that is great news about Ken's recovery progress.

Almost an hour after I arrived, they called my name. I was happy for it to be so quick. NOT. They lost my paperwork and had not even started. This time I filled out paperwork and they let me know it will be $161 to diagnose the problem. I have no idea what the fix & final cost will be. All I do know is I do not want to drive a vehicle with no a/c. Summers heat here can be brutally uncomfortable and deadly if you get too hot.

I have finished planning each hourly task for the month of April. There are a lot of appointments and events in April which takes time to shuffle the normal tasks around.

There is a lady about 5 feet from me that talks NON-STOP about herself and her opinion. Non-stop without a break to let anyone else talk for an hour! My chair back is toward her so I don't have to interact but OH MY what a drama queen!

CI I am Glad bs is better today.
I have set up table to paint put fill in the spot that needed it and that is drying now.
Qt & journals bfast sone got dressed.
Feeling better now that I've been up a bit slept well that helps.

Trash is at the curb now.
