Are you going to look smokin' hot today?

Are you moving smokin' fast today?

It is hot where you are today?

Are you under forest fire smoke today?

You may have guessed... we are under a forest fire smoke air quality advisory now.

The sun is a stunning red ball burning through the smoke. Downtown isn't visible and Quebec buildings are barely visible along the shore and theres just a dark shadow for ski hills right across from me. I know there is a major TV antenna on top of the hill but you can't see the light from it.

I got up in the middle of the night and turned on the air filters but the living room one couldn't get into the kitchen or office area and the smell of smoke is strong there. My chest is tight, my throat is sore. So far, my eyes aren't stinging but I do have a dull headache.

Sigh....

This will last all day.

On the plus side, I have air conditioning. The feels-like temperature will rise to 91 today (actual is just 82).

I also just discovered the person controlling the power point isn't in the church but does it remotely so I printed off the sermon script for him unnecessarily. At least I figured that out early enough in the day I could send him a copy of the script (as he requested back on the 23rd.) This is the problem with doing babysitting, I don't have my computer up and I don't even look at my phone much, I just scan them, so I miss the important content in emails.

I'm awake and I'm moving. Time to hit the shower. I have no idea what I'm wearing but, once again, the resentment of that custom blazer rose up last night because I discovered they made the inside chest pockets big enough for my cell phone. Men are so completely stupid sometimes. It's like the male Tesla engineers designing everything for the driver (assumed to be male, the shoulder belt is too high for most women and hits in the wrong spot (neck and breast). The passenger (more likely to be female) gets no comfort features or access to voice commands (which is the preferred way to do things like open the glove box.) And when you complain, the question is "why would you want to use the glovebox while the car is in motion?", not being capable of imagining that the passenger should use the glove box for things so that they don't have to move the driver's elbow off the armrest to use the storage in there. Yes, there is no way of just opening the glove box, it is controlled by software.

OK, rant over, time to hit the shower and panic about the service. My tech guy just let me know he got the speaker notes and is ready to go. I get the most competent of all our tech crew today, so I'm actually happy with this. He just can't be in the church due to health issues.

Yes, it's hot here today. House is already closed up with both a/c units going. I've watered the flowers and dh is watering the veggies right now. Not a cloud in sight, so no rain again today. I guess it isn't smoky here, but I'm sure it's on the way. Dh also wants to do weed whacking today and cut the grass.

I've also been putting away clean laundry. I have a bad habit of putting once worn tops on the dresser. Then dh goes through the pile of my clothes looking for who-knows-what and my neat pile becomes a wrinkly pile. I really want to get it all put away today.

I need to go get more dirt for inside plants/tropicals. Dh wants to go to grocery store in the town to the west of us. If he is willing to wait until after 9, we can go to both stores. He loves to get stuff done early and then he gets mad because not all the stores are open when he goes to them.

Dh has requested pasta and meat sauce for supper.

Well, the title is amusing to me today, but I don't resemble it. Thinking... .. maybe exercise could get some part of me moving in a smokin' way, that would be about it. Not fast but flexed and working hard, maybe, for heating up muscles, lol. While exercising, I do not look hot, though. :lol:

I am thrilled that Kathryn is preaching her sermon today.
And btw Mystery, always delighted for you when you are doing the readings.

Holding items while speaking - Kathryn, this is what bothered me a great deal for minister last week. She suddenly needed a drink of water - not so unusual; I've seen it happen many times to so many folks. But she was brought a (very sanitary and proper, I'm sure) bottle of water. With everything she was trying to hold and hold open, she had to ask for more help just to get the cap off. So, you're right to prepare well. One problem there is that they have an attractive pulpit but it's slim, architectural-arty, and has none of the traditional little cubbies of old church furniture.

Sleep news - I have gotten into the routine of 7:00 a.m. rising. So grateful. I will awaken at approximately 7 on my own. Tobias waits patiently until I rustle around, and then comes and encourages vocally - no pouncing. I still nap. I try to be on the track for bed, at least, at 11.

Prayer meeting was uplifting last evening and there were just beautiful requests and encouragements. They do have a problem with having to moderate because of trolling, but the 2 moderators offered patience until it was just obvious and then ended it. I was grateful, because I couldn't help but be distracted from the genuine requests. One guy (?) kept pressuring about "isn't it okay to slap a child's hand to stop from touching something hot", then trying to take that to ugly "logical" conclusions about violence, then pretending to be harmed somehow if others disagreed. It was obviously planned disruption, escalating, and became exhausting. (Minister answered, not if you could as easily pull your child to you in love to teach them.)

Time to think about brunch.

~~~waving Hello to all~~~~~
It will be on the hot side here today.
Actual temp = 99F
Feels like temp = 107F
With our focus being on covid recovery for the past 10 days yard care has been one of those items that was put into the "ignore it" category. We received 3" of rain this week which made the grass grow at top speed. We will be spending time in the heat as we work in the green jungle. We fully recognize it is the beginning of the summer season and our bodies have not adjusted to the heat. It seems every year a friend dies from heat stroke at this time of the year. We must be cautious and remain aware. Once our bodies are used to the heat then the danger is reduced.
I am still running a low grade fever (99.6F) this morning. I still have some sinus congestion so I will continue to take it easy. I am thrilled my energy level is returning but it does make it harder to force myself to stay in the recliner. I will try to do 45 minutes rest then reward myself with 15 minutes activity.
I was going to sleep by 10:30 and up around 8:30 this morning. I'm feeling relatively rested although my back is stiff.
We went to the event at temple last night and saw friends there. Pleasant, wasn't too hot out, good company. Today is the temple annual meeting in the afternoon.
I'm engaged in messaging with a guy online at the FamilySearch genealogy site. He insists that William White's name was William Thomas White because he's found family trees that say so.
Tomorrow a.m. need to go to a morning funeral. Mostly well-loved member of temple. I don't love this family but need to honor his long illness and perseverance and temple involvement.
I have a schedule going forward for next week, also need to lay out the week after. I'd like to find a couple of days to go to the Tennessee State Library and Archives in the first or second week of July.
I enjoyed two 15 minute rewards of activity. They were spent gathering the abundance of peppers, trimming the 8' tall asparagus ferns that are hanging over the garden walkway, weedeating around the garden and using a blower to get the cut grass away from the garden. It is 93F outside now so I will switch my activity reward time to inside the house until it starts cooling off this evening.
Now that the brain fog is lifting, I want to spend my recliner time updating spreadsheets and doing some menu planning.
Today's temp. range 90* / 60* ish with in a degree or two F.
Got rain yesterday so air is clear.
Not smokin hot have on work clothes today.
Not moving very fast but I am moving.
I'm up have been up a while.
Looked in two more places unsuccessfully for the paperwork while I talked to my dsis.
Did some planning.
Not doing church today.
Dumped the trash.
Moved two loads of grape vines wagon & wheel burrow 20 min. done for that round.
Need a meal plan for dinner.
Had lunch that helped my attitude. 8-)
Did three more loads of grape vines SO NOT a fun task! Doing it to get my steps in today.
Got my steps in for today yea! Thinking of changing my tatics and putting stuff on the smaller tarp and dragging it. Got the bigger pieces off and that should help it not weigh so much to drag. One pile is not on the tarp or webbing.
Hydrating had my cranberry juice forgot it yesterday.
Filled one trailer load this week this is about the same as 2nd load.
My day went well.
The sanctuary was really hot so I ended up taking off my blazer at the insistence of some of the others. It was the right decision.
Harriet, I had thought of using that minister's experience in my sermon this week (it was on Matthew 10: 40 - 42) but decided not to. Being prepared is really important. I've also learned that we need to sip from a cup up front (or a water bottle with a straw) because it is more discrete than drinking from a bottle. Today I took ice cold water with me for myself and poured it into a glass to sip from. On the communion table was a tray and jug of water for the All Generations Time and I handed out water to the lucky few who were quick to put up their hands.
The smoke got really bad as the day progressed so I have been pretty unproductive. I did a load of laundry and tidied up the bedroom. I also had some breakfast for lunch. Then it was off to dd's for dinner.
My throat gets sore quickly, even inside at home, unless I have a mask on. Dd's house is much better because her a/c doesn't pull in fresh air and her fans are not linked to her lights in the bathrooms. So there's no need for outside air to be pulled in by the furnace. In the apartment building, our running our fans to get the smoke smell out of our own apartments just draws more outside air in due to the air handling system.
It should be fine by tomorrow morning if the maps are to be believed. Bad (but not this bad) on Tuesday. I'll try and find time for a walk tomorrow but it will be slow as my knees are out. Probably from a lack of moving due to how busy I've been and the bad air (since even the high end of 'low risk' bothers me.)
