What's wonderful about your Wednesday? My "wonder" is that I have no out of the house appointments or commitments!
If the wonder in your day isn't as apparent, go find what's wonderful about the day....

What's wonderful? The fact that I called a local company that deals with water heater replacements and they are coming today between 11 and 12 to take a look. Another wonderful thing is that it's the extra long holiday weekend (July 1st Canada Day and July 4) and we are considering going to a hotel with a pool for 1 night. Pool for dh, plus shower in the room for both of us.
While looking for silver linings, I noticed that the smokiness has reduced considerably since this morning around 7. It was really bad then. Now it's a lot better.
Dishes. I can still do them, I just have to boil water and add it to the sink. I was using the kettle earlier. Now I have our largest pot on the stove.
Haven't decided on supper yet.

Re: Wonderful Wednesday PWYC
Thought from last night: Harriet, I'm just weirded out by chocolate hummus. I googled ingredients and sugar is the second, after chickpeas, and brown sugar is further down the list. Yeah, I think it might be a "gateway" food, like a gateway drug.
I am so pleased I don't have events today. Last night was the meeting for prospective HOA board. Someone with a great background stepped up to be president and I took treasurer. That relieves, A, my neighbor, who has been treasurer since the beginning. She's a practicing CPA so we'll get together after her 30 June season. I'm thrilled not to be president.
I slept in this a.m. until 8:30ish. Need to get going!
and later, since my ADD ensured that I didn't get this posted.
I'm trying to improve relations with the dog. I talked to trainer on Saturday morning and my head is full. I've ordered a new collar - a martingale - that hopefully she will like better than the harness. She hates the harness. She's getting liberal high value treats for walking with me, instead of pulling. We just walked two laps and encountered two dogs without incident. One was on a lead with a guy on a bicycle - apparently his dog veered when they rounded the circle and we were there and he nearly crashed. It was so interesting it took a lot to get Millie's attention back after that. We had to walk the opposite way awhile, until I spotted a dog heading our way, and I reversed again and went to the other side of the street. I've seen people on bikes exercising their dogs, but this was a small one. So that's working.
Last night we hear the first of 2023 fireworks and she doesn't like that. She went to closet where I left her for awhile. I got out the meds for her and had to leave them there, imbedded in peanut butter, and she finally took them. She bounced out later when dh got home, and was all drugged up all night. I really hate fireworks. On NYE, when we first took her, we spent hours in the closet with her until they subsided.
On with a.m. routine. I'm determined to walk more - we got in two laps - and we need to be going early since our weather is heating up.

The person has come and gone. He will be emailing me a quote. Hopefully today. The washing machine will have to be removed from it's usual place and put outside for a while. It looks like we will have a construction zone for a while. I have done ALL of the dishes. The kitchen looks great!
While I was waiting, I sat outside and it's very cool out with a brisk wind. Skies are overcast, but there is no smell.
This sat for a while without getting posted.

Re: Wonderful Wednesday PWYC
~~~waving Hello to all~~~~
My primary laptop is not playing nicely this morning. It refuses to power up. I have set it in the corner for time out to see if that will help. LOL I am using a backup laptop that has a messed-up keyboard. The primary keyboard doesn't recognize several of the letters. In the past, I've done countless hours of troubleshooting and finally exhausted all options. It is more cost effective to replace the laptop rather than replacing the keyboard. "Strange but true.
I went to VBS this morning and received a welcome that made my heart happy. There are 5 volunteers working in the kitchen, so my services were not needed. I will be keeping the nursery for any babies during tonight's family night VBS service.
I am feeling much better about my lack of stamina after discussing our personal covid symptoms, treatments, and recovery with several friends this morning. Everyone recovered without needing hospitalization. There were two groups though. Those that had a frequent cough for weeks afterwards and those that didn't. I found it interesting that those who took prescription antiviral meds, or the country folk meds didn't have the cough. Regardless of the meds taken, it was everyone's experience of fatigue/lack of stamina after having covid. The group without the lasting cough said it took them a couple weeks to get back to normal energy. Those with the lasting cough have a longer recovery time to regain their stamina.
I made a quick shake for breakfast. I cut up fresh vegetables and used them in making a skillet of Manwich for lunch. I will be making a big green salad with multiple ingredients next.
I'm upstairs. I'm kind of mulling over what my genealogy goals are, and what I want to work on or prioritize. I've had an online messaging discussion with one of my accountability group buddies; she's in the same place, except that she's both a CG and an AG (Accredited Genealogist) as of yesterday. I emailed my DAR registrar about a supplemental application and also emailed the editor of a TN publication about possibly publishing my three generation report.
Dh was going after work for a drink with a wholesaler and didn't know if he's be home for dinner. We have brats in the refrigerator that we thawed on Sunday that need to be cooked, so perhaps I'll put them on the grill and have leftovers for a lunch.
Re: Wonderful Wednesday PWYC
I made burgers for the crew only two today.
Oven baked on a rack were good they said.
I did mine w/out a rack.
Edible cookie dough was a hit.
The boss [ex-sil] was here for a bit might get my shed roof done too while they are here it is 10'x14'.
Found out the info. on the payment first half of it waiting on a text for that.
I still have to pick the deck colors one of two colors. It is next week ish bc of the holiday's and delivery schedule the supply folks are BUSY!
Deck is half off now. I am still doing pick up rounds every 2 hrs. or so.
I dug out one plant I wanted to save.
Got time to journal decluttered a small cooler dgdson did not have one so he can have his gpa's.
I did clean up after lunch and reclaimed counters again.
Feels like Friday to me!
Re: Wonderful Wednesday PWYC
I'm working on a couple of small projects that involve making many decluttering decisions. I gathered all many containers of writing instruments we have used for school over the past decade. Now that we are done with the first 8 grades of school the kids have different needs. We don't have a need for all these pens/pencils/markers/crayons/map pencils/dry erase makers/highlighters. I first put all the equivalent items together and used gallon zip lock bags to hold each of the categories. Then I started making decisions about each of the categories.
Do I need all these dry erase markers? When was the last time I used them? I realized it has been over 5 years! If I am not going to keep the dry erase markers, then I definitely don't need to keep the dry erase boards. I have not used those boards since DS14 was in grade school. If I haven't used them for 5 years, then it is time to let them go. I gathered all the dry eraser boards & markers and thanked them for serving us well. I put them in the give-away stack with the hope they find a home that will have a need for them.
DD12 drawings have developed over time, and she has found her favorite drawing instruments. She no longer uses these many-colored pencils and markers. It is time to let them go.
Highlighters I want to keep. I still use them occasionally. I have a place for them.
No one in our home uses any regular pencils anymore. Grade school required normal #2 wooden pencils, but that time has passed. We all prefer mechanical pencils. All those wooden pencils including the erasers are now in the giveaway stack.
I have a two-drawer metal index card file that hasn't been opened or used since DS14 left grade school. It has sat in the school room for 5 years without being touched! Anything to do with index cards feels precious to me, but I am ready to release these metal drawers. I'm keeping the index cards though!
Re: Wonderful Wednesday PWYC
As happy as I am that we have numerous hotels around us, it's the long weekend and everything is booked. Dh is going to have a sink bath in the kitchen tonight. I will fill the sink with really warm water and there is already a face cloth, towels, shampoo and body wash on the counter waiting for him.
Our supper wasn't that great tonight. I didn't want pork or beef or pasta or mashed potatoes. We finished up most of the cold salads and I heated 6 Jamaican patties in the oven and dh had a small serving of asparagus.
Never heard back from the local heating/cooling company regarding the job (possibly) awaiting them with our water heater. I will call another company tomorrow morning.
