I washed dh's hair. We are expecting the second company to come here today with their quote.

There are a couple of knives to be washed. Dishwasher needs to be emptied. I will do a load of washing tonight. I had some stuff in the dryer that I put away this morning.

No idea what is for supper tonight. Not pasta. I need to try to keep dh away from as much pasta as he would like.

I'm watching a video and going over a book on how to help toddlers who are speech delayed. It is overdue at the library and someone else wants it.

I may also be going to the bank.

So far, I slept in until 8:15, rushed downstairs to get my bike moved (indoor garage washing day 1 including where my bike is stored), caught up on Wordle (I was behind 3 days) and have s2s and cut my bangs. I keep forgetting to get hair appointments or put them off because my normal cut is too short at the back for pony tails and with no a/c so often, I want to be able to get my hair off my neck.

I need to book hotels today for our trip to NS. And confirm all our reservations down in NS.

I can't upgrade the boards because I don't know how.

No-one has commented on what choices they think I should make or offered to help with the transition. Harriet's dd24 had offered to help at one point and I think I need to turn it all over to her. The boards are such a mess (overlarge in PWYC) that I worry moving the database over to a new and supported version of phpBB will be a disaster.

Kathryn I am absolutely technically challenged when it comes to computers and websites. I'm sorry I can't be of any help. I will go read your post from last night again.

I re-read your posts. I really don't know how to answer some of those questions. I rarely venture below J&C. There are some threads that the latest posts were in 2010. There are others from 2018. I can't remember if I've ever gone into some of the choices available to post in. If any of this was paperwork, I would follow my accountant's advice and go back 7 years. It's not actual paperwork, and I don't understand about storage abilities and how much room any of this takes up on a website, so I don't know what to say.

Apart from that, there is some AWESOME NEWS in J&C!! Thanks LadyM!

I am home from an outing with DH. I felt like a date because it was just the two of us!
No-one has commented on what choices they think I should make or offered to help with the transition.
I read your post from yesterday and immediately my mind started doing the webmaster/sysadmin/database administrator thoughts swirling even though I have been out of this line of work for over a decade.
Thinking about the options. There are pro & cons to all the different ways to accomplish it

I am unsure what version of phpbb & php this board is currently using and the end goal
Looking at http://bb.shesorganized.org/styles/prosilver/style.cfg it appears it is currently running phpbb version 3.1.3
I tend to lean toward having a goal of ending up with the latest stable version which would be
Phpbb 3.3.10
PHP is 8.2. 6

Also unknown is what database is being used. I'm guessing it is mysql or sqlite. While doing updates then it makes sense to me to also switch to the latest stable version of database software.

Will we be keeping the same domain name? Will the current board stay with that, and a subdomain be created for the newer software?

Then all those those evaporated when I saw
Harriet's dd24 had offered to help
YES!! I will eagerly send funds to Harriet DD24 to pay for her time if she would be willing.

Last night was a short one for me. The dogs were needy because of the fireworks. Also DS14 went to a party where I knew he would be exposed to drinking, drugs, s*x and other temptations. We talked about these temptations and the choice he would be making before he went. I stayed up waiting for DS14 to come home after midnight. Even after he was safely home, I didn't go to sleep easily.

We have goodies for the holiday that we don't normally keep in the house. Cake, donuts and fritters. I expect they will be gone by the end of the day.

Hi everyone. I totally missed Kathryn's questions and will have to go back and find them. I am here for a quick check in because I am being driven nuts. I told people I would have my camper at the Home City fireworks tonight and a time. There is no RV parking so I don't have an exact place. All have my phone number. The idea is get to the location and either find me (not many RPods around here) or call or text for locations. Here are the things I will not do now, don't do in general, and don't plan on doing at any time in the future:
  • Coordinate food - everyone bring whatever they would normally eat, I will provide kitchen facilities
  • Provide a grill - won't fit in the camper, if you want one, bring it or get someone other than me to bring it. I bring the camper and what I want.
  • Give you directions to the park - I use a GPS because I suck at directions. Home City fireworks is on the web.
  • Coordinate any rides other than my own car - don't want to come to my house and ride with me? Don't expect me to call a third party for you. Especially don't expect me to go back and forth getting the time and places arranged. And don't ask friend N to do it, because she will call me and be unhappy and expect me to fix it. I did fix it - I am captain of the camper, she is now First Mate and her duties are to convey the captain's orders which are "arrange it on your own". She is also relieved of food coordination duties. (No, I never expected her to do either of these things. My expectation is that she show up with what she needs. She feels responsible for the people she invited. Yes, she had my permission to invite them.)
  • As in a boat, the route is entirely at my discretion. There are no detours unless I plan them in advance or there is an emergency. No, I cannot easily stop at a random fast food place, I have to know in advance if I can fit. I'm not unreasonable. If you need a restroom, I will stop and open the camper where you will find toilet paper, running water, and soap. I will also stop so you can retrieve food.
Any friends of friends who don't like the way I run my rig are welcome to find someone else with a camper, buy their own, attend fireworks without an RV home base, or sit at home and sulk.

Thank you for listening. I can now face the inevitable phone calls N forwarded from the FOAFs politely but firmly.

In other news, DD21's dog is doing well on his treatment. The cat with the UTI will eventually fall to the usual old cat kidney issues. However, it is not necessarily any time soon. And if her kidneys last until say age 25, something else is likely to get her first.

I will also contribute to any funding necessary to keep the board up and running.

I am also happy to contribute funding.

Kathryn, I'm afraid I don't know enough about the process to contribute an opinion. I think keeping us stable and up as long as possible is a goal. A lot of our threads aren't used, if they're contributing to the issues we can cut down on those areas that haven't been used so much. I hate to loose a lot of it but keeping us going and not loosing touch here is the most important thing. I sure wish I had some advice or knew enough to offer an opinion.

I'm home for a few minutes and will go back to the river for awhile Dh stayed there, he had been in the pool when I left. It's terribly hot out. The crowd is down to nine, I think, including me. I was feeling over hot, over tired, and there were too many people talking and too many conversations going back and forth for awhile. Also music too loud inside, when I tried to cool down.

I gave ddog her meds for the last night of fireworks and gave her supper and a walk and spent some quality time with her.
