Make the day satisfying, whether you're working, socializing, hanging out, or piddling about!

I was up early and went to our farmers market with my friends. Bought tomatoes..wanted to buy some corn and green beans but I already had some store bought ones at home.

Came home and watched the women’s final at Wimbledon. Sweetie found a small water snake in our pool. He was only abt 10” long. We fished it out and once we got him out I removed him from the net to look at him. I’ve handled many snakes before and was surprised when he tried to bite me. He’s so little he didn’t do any harm, but I was surprised at he feisty he was. Let him go and he quickly scooted away.

My tummy is not too happy today so I’ll be taking it easy. Have some laundry to fold, and some to dry and then will put it away. We just had a small pass over with rain and thunder. Glad for that.

I'm hoping for better connectivity for Kathryn and lower temps and humidity for those of us in the south.

Did Nancy see Northern lights last night? s

We were at Shabbat dinner at friends' house - host couple have beautiful lake house and property - I hadn't seen it before. After dinner we walked down to their dock where they have a screened porch on the water, and had dessert - home made ice cream and peach cobbler there. A boat ride followed - I passed on the boat ride and several of us went back inside to the a/c.

So today I think we're going to the A and V's river condo, then coming back here to grill steaks. Dh says we always are there (which is true) and he wants to invite them here for our dinner. Which makes it harder on me mentally to get ready to host when I'm out of the house - and get things "ready." I'm not very spontaneous.

While this has been sitting here I've walked the dog. About a mile, sweating like a pig right now, and "feels like" nearly ninety degrees. Frankly, I don't care about being outside today. Wish I could tolerate it better and every year I think I'll expose myself more to being out in the heat and get more used to it, but it doesn't happen.

Dh just started telling me when he wants to leave to go to river, and I cut him off that I need to do what I need to do. :D

Because dstepson wanted to touch up some grout around our master tub (our only actual tub), I did a morning deep-clean of the bathroom and also removed everything not attached, lol. So when he arrived, I had 5 things out of his way in the hall - scale, standing towel rack, trash can, twin kit of plunger/toilet brush, and another rack.

When he finished with the grout I handed him a series of wet paper towels to neaten it up, and now we just leave it alone until morning. Looks good.

I can't brag much on the rest of the house. Days away and getting quite tired, it is simply not caught up.

(Nancy - yes, "wilted" is a good word for how I feel after being out a lot.)

Also, dd24 is borrowing our truck while completing an outdoor mural this weekend, so we can't take the trash right now. Sigh. I can't imagine how wilted she will feel. I should text her to drink extra extra water.

We weren't allowed to pay for anything except dstepson's materials, so that was a good $17 spent.

Dstepdil says they are getting some okra but probably won't be enough to share.

I think we might need to break out the winter coats. A cold front came through and we have two days of it only being 90F! We return to the triple digits on Monday but am enjoying this cool break.

I agreed to an outing with DGS26 today. He asks me almost every week but it rarely seems to happen. I took DD12 with us today and the three of us had an enjoyable 7 hours together. We went sightseeing, shopping in weird-to-us places, out to eat at a new to us place and then we did one normal thing (Walmart) before heading home. As DGS26 was walking out the door he paused and asked "I know your life is full and you have chaos happening continually, but can we meet for coffee or another outing next weekend?" Uhmmmm....I don't know how a Nana would say no to such a request, so I smiled and agreed to do it.

We're back home from river and regrouping for dinner. I don't know what possessed dh to suggest both, and he caught me when I was still asleep, asking before he left for Torah study before I was awake. I tried to ask last night when his thoughts were for the weekend and he had none.

We too are getting something of a front, the humidity is dropping but we're still at eighty-seven degrees. No rain today, I think we're needing it.

Weird day here. Someone knocked on our back door very loudly right at 7 a.m. I got up and threw on a housecoat to cover my white cotton nightie and went straight to the door. I didn't hear a truck or car leaving and the dog next door was yapping/barking and running around. I think it was the neighbour. Then all the wood got delivered right at 8, with the fence builder coming along and parking right on his front bumper before he could get the delivery truck out of the way. Builder wanted him to move a couple of the skids closer to where the fence is going up. Builder's helper can't make it this weekend, so they will both be here "at 7 a.m." on Monday to start the fence. Builder also said it wasn't him that showed up at 7 this morning because he was still at work and then he was telling us about how his night at work went. (He is a local cop and they had a very busy and productive night.) As soon as they left, dh and I decided to go out for breakfast.

When we got back I went to get kitty litter. When I got back from that there was a "friend" of dh's here looking at the project in the back hall. He will drop off a quote on Tuesday or Wednesday along with a booklet for me to chose the doors. Dh also wants the back door and screen door replaced. I don't know how he can bring a quote before the doors are chosen.

Then I had a 3 hour nap. Is it still a nap after 3 hours or was it a short sleep?

We had burgers for supper along with mushrooms, zucchini, potatoes and onions all done in separate packets on the BBQ.

I didn't go to knitting today. I don't think I'll go back to this group. Almost everyone goes to the Thursday group.

There was a lot of rain here today and it's very nice out right now. In other words, the temp has gone down.

I have picked out a color I want to try for accent on whatever I paint next so I am looking forward to that.
Periwinkle blue is the color I am looking for.

I've had a satisfying Saturday, because I am down to one dgrandchild at the moment, and it has been much calmer around here!
Y'all can tell what kind of chaos my life is in when I don't even have time to post and TELL you how crazy it is!

Tuesday night, the dgrands ate supper with us (just carry-out, eaten here at home) and I got them settled down pretty quickly because we had an early morning -- had to be at church at 9:00 a.m Wed. morning.

Wednesday, I didn't "have to" go on the trip with the children, but I did anyway. We had 6 adults and 8 children, LOL. It was HOT, but it was fun. I rode with one of the two grandmothers who took their own cars because their grands were still in car seats. I enjoyed talking to this lady very much. She is one of those few people who can talk more than me, and I've known her for a long time -- taught her ds when he was in high school and dh has known her his whole life. Her husband is in our church bluegrass band, and she and he are both retired teachers, so we have a lot in common. It was a very enjoyable day. Plus, I found out that more people than I thought may be in favor of disaffiliation in our church, so that made me feel better too.
Wednesday night, we went out for supper and dgrands were good and we all had a good time.

Thursday, I took them swimming. We only stayed an hour or so, but it was long enough that dgs threw a ball and accidentally (he said) hit dgd in the face. Tears flowed, I made dgs get out of the pool and then he sat in time out for 30 minutes after we got home. Thursday night... I don't even remember what we did for supper... LOL...

Yesterday, we had the dgrands all day, and after ddil's birthday party, dgd was ready to go home with her mommy... she really gets homesick for her mommy and daddy when she's away from them. DGS wanted to stay with us, since DGD was going home, so he stayed and will stay tonight. I have no doubt he'd just move in with us if we could work out visitation days with his parents.
I have slept most of the day and finally got up and s2s. We went out for Krystal hamburgers and DQ ice cream and are now back home. DH is watching the Braves, listening to the Opry on the radio, and dgs is playing some imaginary baseball game and keeps giving us play-by-play and progress reports.
I have corrected a paper for dniece via email.
I thought about changing the sheets, but it was mid-week the last time I did that, and we'll miss a night this week, so I'm putting that off till next Saturday.
I do need to finish vacuuming -- master bedroom/bath, computer room, and the kids' room. Their room is kinda a wreck, but we'll get it picked up tonight. The rest of the house looks okay. I vacuumed the main areas yesterday, but never did mop the kitchen. Whew. It's just hard to do everything, especially with two kids running wild all the time. I can see why some of the clutter accumulates at ds' house. BUT... I do have to say, except for a few glasses and a pitcher in the sink, our house is still pretty neat -- except for the kids' room.

Next week will be a little quieter, but we'll only be home three days before the weekend and our little over-night guests return, PLUS, I told dgd she could stay tomorrow night if she wanted to, since she had missed out on her night by herself with us! Goodness. I dread driving to Atlanta (I always do about half the driving) but I am sorta looking forward to being out of town, even if it will be so hot at the games. At least they are night games.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday night, and a good Sunday tomorrow!
