Hydrate on Friday

Continuing some smart beat-the-heat thoughts that Twins' has been having.
Love Nancy's idea yesterday
of drinking your water from a favorite, formal glass. Perhaps something different to remind you - even a silly cup with funny characters on it might get and hold your attention. If you're like me, and like to know how much you drink, just measure its capacity at the start of the day and you'll know all day long how many cups you drink.
Today is Happy Anniversary day to helia and dh.
((Mr. Harmony)) ((Harmony)) on virus diagnosis!
I know ya'll are thinking is Harriet up late or up early, and the answer is yes. Mostly early.
Main Thursday TaDa was another grand's birthday and the big cumbersome package arrived (net for ball-playing practice in a long, heavy box). It was a challenge to wrap and took a while! So heavy that the rather sturdy paper got a rip, but I mended with a patch from another matching place! He was delighted when he came to get it.
Had a visit, too, from HRH's brother and niece. My "baby niece" I mentioned here once and chatted about making a quilt for ... she's going in 9th grade in fall.
Dd43 and family have had only half their air conditioning since about 8 or 9 this a.m., so much hope is placed in a morning appt from The Man. I know they are uncomfortable tonight.
Spent so much time on a mix-up with that same dr's appt., now scheduled for Sept! Good grief.
Everyone have a refreshing and hydrated day!

Morning…
I set 4 bottles of water on my kitchen counter to remind me to drink my water. I am not a sipper, rather I guzzle the water right down at one time. Used to amaze my kids when I taught
Nancy… my vitamins are sitting right here next to me to swallow.
I had a busy day yesterday. Played Bacci, I’m getting better, did a 1.5 miles on the treadmill, my shins started hurting so I stopped, came home, changed, did a load of laundry and did a grocery run.
Brought the groceries home and put them away, same with the laundry. Put in an other load to wash and then colored my hair. After I finished my hair, I took a shower and then started dinner.
By the time I went to bed I had over 13k steps in.
This morning I went to class and am now drinking my second cup of coffee. Need to get up and change because I have my coffee gathering in a little while.
Waving to y’all…see ya later

I've walked the dog already, we'll see 96 degrees before heat index today so another hot one. Painters are done, thank goodness, except for some touch and coming by to get paid. I haven't figured out the color for the front door and I've tried to explain to dh that I don't have the bandwidth for it right now.
Class is done at two today. As I said yesterday, I feel like I'm trying to drink out of a fire hose - so much info imparted.
We're having dinner out tonight with river friends, then they'll be away tomorrow and Sunday. I'm glad going to the river isn't a possibility this weekend - between the heat and just being tired I need a break!
I think I'll take my shower later and just goof off this morning.
I have a 32 oz insulated Swig life tumbler for my water. I fill it with ice several times a day and then refill with water. I use filtered water from the refrigerator and notice the strong taste to our water now. Upstairs I keep a couple of gallon water jugs with spring water for refills.

Each morning I check our 10-day forecast. I'm looking for a break in this summer heat. Nope, not yet. It stays consistent with daily 102-107F in forecast through Aug 6th. Tomorrow I'll look for the Aug 7th forecast. Although, I do acknowledge the heat doesn't bother me now. I stay aware to limit my outside physical labor to 15 minutes during the hottest time of the day. Otherwise, it just seems normal temps that I forget about.
I tore down two of the 8' tomato plants today. There is only one more of the tall tomato plants left in the garden. I have other types of tomato plants, but the only ones that I am leaving to grow are the Cherry & Celebrity. The Celebrity wins my favorite type of tomato this year. They don't get towering tall, are consistent producers and are still loaded with tomatoes. I'm hoping I remember this and just focus on growing Celebrity, Rutger, and Cherry tomatoes next year. #StickWithFavorites

Have tried to call dd43 and don't get an answer. I hope this is not because she is still dealing with the AC situation. I was hoping she'd have had the repairmen there already and done. They'll be soooooo hot today if this can't happen.
HRH wants to go to grocery mid-afternoon and I'm just not so sure.
Thanks, LadyM on report reminding that Celebrity has a good reputation for a reason. It has made many a good tomato sandwich and I had forgotten that it's a more manageable plant than some others.
Thanks, Kathryn, on Barbie report.
The young man has invited me to go along when he takes dd.

I've gone and done grocery shopping at 2 different stores. I came home and unloaded my car and then dh and I went to the "senior" swim. We stayed in for 40 minutes. It was very refreshing. I'll be heading out for knitting shortly.
Ravioli and plain spaghetti sauce for supper tonight.

Oh Harriet… how I love tomato sandwiches with Mayo. I’m not eating grain at the moment, but planned on making a BLT today for lunch. I’ll use my lettuce to be my bread
Back from my gathering. Brought my almond flour/cheese muffin so my all time favorite Dunkin’ doughnuts wouldn’t tempt me.
Taking a break and then I have a load of laundry to fold and put away. After that I need to get the rest of my steps in. I’ll use my gazelle since my shins are still a tad bit sore.
Our community is having a Lu’au tomorrow afternoon. They need help setting up so I am going with my friend to help set up. Should be fun and if I get too hot I can jump in the pool to cool off.

Posting from my phone because I am just too bushed to walk back to the office......which tells you what this day is going like. DH had me up several times during the night so I didn't get much sleep. He was super upset with the level of discomfort in his throat... And finally I told him I had 1 more thing he could try. I had a bottle of cold and throat zinc lozenges which are supposed to lessen the lengths and severity of symptoms. He was happy to try something, anything to help.
One time he got me up was because he was very cold. Wanted a blanket. There was 1 right there, but whatever... I went back to bed but I was also shivering. From walking barefoot in my nightgown? Or sick? I didn't know... So I did a lozenge also.
Up this morning feeling really bad. So I tested, but it was negative. Don't know if it's from lack of sleep or from that zinc. I will test again later. I have a "sick" headache and took something for that. I'm going to take our temps next. Just would like to know what's going on. My coffee just now tastes. "Off". From the zinc? I only tried that 1 time. Sigh...
Fun day.

Yeah, I bet you have it too, Harmony. Check in with doc re: Paxlovid? I think it made a difference for me but it has to be taken within five days of onset. Is dh alternating ibuprofen and tylenol to keep fever down?
I'm bored with these case studies.
