Try it Thursday

Post by Lady Maverick »

I asked ai for quotes on trying and this was the response. Pick what works for you.

“Trying is always enough.” - Marianne Williamson
“Disappointment is really just a term for our refusal to look on the bright side.” - Richelle E. Goodrich
“There is no try. There is only do.” - Yoda
“Everyone tried with me. And everytime, it felt like the whole point of life was to see if trying was ever enough.” - David Levithan
“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.” - Michael Jordan
“Great things happen to those who don’t stop believing, trying, learning, and being grateful.” - Roy T. Bennett
“The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried.” - Roy T. Bennett
“Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying.” - Roy T. Bennett12

I might be bored.

And I'm frustrated beyond belief with the dog, who has turned into a little wanna be dictator. And dh snarled at me last night at bedtime over the dog wanting to sleep between us for a while - she moves to the foot of the bed later.

And I forgot to figure out the paint for the front door of the house and the painter wanted to come back today.

I think I'm just frustrated with my life and feeling weepy. I'm heading out to walk the little dictator.

Good Morning. I merged our two morning topics.

Believe it or not, I was coming in this morning to say several board housekeeping things.
I have locked the previous month threads of J and C, and thank you to Twins' Mom for creating the new August J and C.
I had not had time until last evening (sorry!) to post August Art, Craft and Needlework in Creative Home forum below, but it is up now
and, another believe it or not, I filled it with humorous quotes! (found the "Old Fashioned" way, LadyM, with browser search! How last year! lol)

LadyM and I did not coordinate our activities! lol

Dd24 was actually chatting with me this a.m. and saying that she makes use of AI at her work now. She has her minor in Computer Science and studied AI so it's not new to her but what is new is that her boss has taken to telling her to use it more if it will be quick. This is in recording works such as previous design projects, with brief explanations of each. I told her, IMO, proof-read, proof-read, proof-read. At her Gallery management job, she had done the very creative writing of their entire hard-copy published catalog of art works herself. I don't know if the creativity could have been the same at all for that, but for this kind of work, AI is fast and helpful. In the back of my mind, I still think: yipes.

Ohmigoodness, are we all living parallel lives!?! Twins', we were also complaining last evening that Tobias started sleeping against HRH's back in our bed at night instead of either at our feet or on a chair. We wonder if he got kicked at our feet sometime and is staking a claim! Obviously, he picked very shifting terrain if he thinks HRH is going to be still through the night.

((Twins')) I didn't really read your whole post well and now see you need a hug! I'm sorry about your little wannabe dictator.

None of our cats will sleep in the bed with us at night. During the day, they own the bed, but not at night.

I was up before any of my alarms went off. Compost, garbage and recycling are now at the end of the driveway. I also deep cleaned both litter boxes. Dh and I had our morning sit down at the patio table. We haven't eaten a meal at that table in years, but dh has his coffee there almost every day for most of the year.

I have been busy moving things around in the library. I somehow gained 3 shelves by moving some stuff to other places. I think 3 globes in the living room is a bit much though.

Dh wants something with chicken leg quarters for supper. I just took them out of the freezer after asking him twice this morning.

I have the Craft Guild at 10:30. I have put all the stuff into the back seat of my car. I also have to go to Costco this afternoon to pick up meds for dh. I also need butter. Not 100 pounds though.

Good Morning

Harriet - THANK YOU for merging our dual pwyc threads.

My OMM list for today seems daunting. I need to focus on one thing at a time so I don't become overwhelmed. I'm fine with multitasking but sometimes I need to limit the number of directions I'm going in at the same time. IYKWIM
** Enroll DD12 in the 7th grade. We will get her class schedule today and walk the new-to-her buildings locating her classrooms. DD12 is having off the charts anxiety about it. I talked to my VDFriend that works in grade school last night and told her about DD12 anxiety of leaving grade school. She said she would call the person in the middle/high school office that manages everything and also the high school counselor to get them into the know about DD12. I need to dig up the "I need a break" card and talk to the new-to-us principal, teachers, and counselor about it. I want DD12 to have a plan and options of how to respond if she gets overwhelmed during the school day.
** Go to the health dept to get the kids HPV shots. Hopefully it won't be packed. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY don't like sitting in a crowded packed waiting room with a bunch of strangers. If I knew a different option to get the shots then I would be using it. I'm going to grit my teeth and get it done. On a positive note.....it took me less than a minute to find both the kids shot records. #WinningWithPaperwork
** Go get the repaired Duramax pickup. Hopefully the front end will be fixed & ready to roll for many more miles.
** Go to Sam to get my two prescriptions that have been waiting for me a couple days. Also buy pantry restock items while there.

Thanks Harriet, I do feel better after two laps with the dictator-gal. She's eating her breakfast now.

And it turns out that the painter is next door this a.m. painting neighbor's teen dd's room so I can go get front door paint and he can do it today. (UPDATE - he's on a tight schedule today so will do next week!) Dh has left it up to me to decide.

So now I'm down a red front door rabbit hole (our current front door is a dull red while the house is dark navy and crisp white trim.)

And I stopped for breakfast.

OMM:
workout at 2 today and I was a little sore from Tuesday workout
supper: are we eating out or am I cooking?
grocery trip today or tomorrow

The apartment is quiet again. Dgs2 has gone home. His parents came in and he immediately grabbed onto me but his mom just sat there and in a few minutes he took a toy over to show her. Ds knows to just walk into another room and let dgs come to him when he's ready to visit.

And for leaving, as things were packed up, dgs stood in the hall and waved goodbye to his parents as if they were leaving and he was staying. I held his hand and he came with us to the car, I put him in his seat and kissed him goodbye and Daddy did him up and the transition was complete without tears.

It is important to remember how hard transitions can be even from one good thing to another. Perhaps because of our ADD we recognize that more than other adults will and I suspect that helps make me a gentler Nana (although there were times these past few days when I had to use my size to effect a transition!)

I immediately was hungry so ate breakfast early.

My computer is back on my desk, set up with its second screen. I've completed the Connections and Wordle puzzles from the NYT and updated my Wordle stats. I still have about 6 of them to do from last month, so maybe I'll do that now so I can mark that off my to-do list. Not that it is important but it is nagging me.

After that, I'll make up a to-do list.
