Are you getting any rest today?
It rained overnight and I am up at 5:00 [still dark out].
I think I hear thunder My deck is wet. I moved my plant out to get rained on.
I am SO glad I did not wait to go out to the camp ground and went yesterday when it was NOT raining.
I did not do dishes yesterday so there is that.
I made coffee checked and the fabric will not work on the outside round tablecloth but will work on the one in my creativity room .
Thinking I will do a stitch line apx. one inch in and fringe it.
Woke up with that insight.
Might be a good time to change my purse out too.
I have a new to me one I got this summer on my yard sale rounds.
I am excited to find a hard back half sheet planner that will work for church notes and be more portable than the others I have here.
Other exciting news there were jet boat races on the river while I was at the park we had to pause our talking while
they loudly went by. Jet boat race weeking is not so restful.

~~~waving Hello to all~~~~
I'm home from attending small groups and worship service. I am glad that I overcame the little things that could have stopped me from attending. The moments I was there seemed to fly by and I came home energized.
I plan on doing as little as possible the rest of the day. I want to embrace taking time to rest.
Have fun, Cathy.
Nancy, I'm unhappy with sermon note-taking pads right now because HRH found a stash of old yellow legal pads and now thinks I should use them rather than anything else. So inconvenient, IMO, especially since I scribble so fast to take notes, as I turn pages by flipping over. I don't like to waste space and have always written on the backs of pages before, so I'm turning the pad over and trying to awkwardly write on at least some of the back of each page while the other pages flop around. I want my spiral notebook back, lol - spoiled.
Harmony, yes, an interesting curriculum! I imagine those are the topics that sparked the most interest for dgs, lol. I doubt teachers would be pleased to think that's what he got out of their overviews of courses, which probably had a lot more to take in. Good to know Mr. Harmony was only limping as usual after tripping yesterday!
Dgsons' limited independence on their regular-size 4-wheeler is totally under his Mom's thumb. He used to drive his small one on driveways as long as one of his parents was along on this one. I guess he's outgrown that plan. But between his house and ours there is a mown utility strip under a power line that his Uncle J (dstepson) keeps well maintained, and that works as a kind of private chance to "independently" visit us. He has to be the helmet police for dgd. He must call us to say they're coming, call us when they get back home. Yesterday was his first experience as the Person In Charge at his house while his folks went on date night. Ddil texted with me 3 times during her date.
Got to see both prayer meeting and morning worship. The music minister preached today and he was so interesting to me because he emphasized historic or timeline things: "this came about the time of that" or "this was right after the other thing". At another point he said, "Notice how soon this happened - if you'd have blinked, you'd have missed it!" Very insightful, and he gave an author to read. I always like that, even though I don't always get around to reading what's suggested.
He talked about speaking in general
and pointed out the difference between the regular senior pastor and the times he or another pastor preach. He said if you don't speak often, it can seem "jarring" to you to begin again. So, while it seems so effortless for her to speak, that is something that can partly be achieved by consistency and is a reason that it's important that pulpits/podiums be open to many, never limited to just one kind of person out of pride or misplaced suspicion of another perspective. If someone goes through life never speaking, then they never believe they are the one who should speak, and that's not how it is supposed to be.
We are home. We ended up at the mouth of the Grand river on the north shore of Lake Erie. Usually we have gone to the other side of the river and looked towards the side we were on today. We didn't catch any fish, but we did get some sun. On the way home we stopped at a food truck and had fries. Dh had a cheeseburger as well. Now he is napping. I tried to nap.
Although I was determined to have a lazy day, I can't turn my brain off. I've got ideas for all kinds of things to do. The brain says to do all of this stuff and my body says, nah.... do it tomorrow or later this week. Trying hard to do it tomorrow or later this week.
Dh wants to go for another burger for supper. I'll try to change his mind. One burger is enough for one day.
So much for my intention of having a restful few hours.
I visited with DD12 about our lack of follow through on getting her exercise minutes done each day. She REALLY hates to exercise but she agrees that it is good for the body. DD12 is willing to exercise if she can start with a very minimum of minutes. I just want her to start and let the minutes increase as time passes. This may sound ridiculously crazy, but we agreed for DD12 to start with 2 minutes of walking each day. Each week she will add 1 minute to her walking time. It will take her many weeks to reach a level of appropriate exercise, but it is better than what she is doing now (nothing). Exercise is the life skill habit that I'm seeking for her to establish.
Skip if you're queasy!
DS15 and a friend decided it would be a clever idea to cut the muffler and tailpipe off his Duramax pickup so it would be louder, and blow move visible amounts of black smoke. These are things that appeal to teenage boys. During that illogical (IMHO) project DS15 gashed the palm of his hand. He came inside holding his hand in front of him while dripping blood all through the house as he walked from room to room. His friend was walking behind DS15 which increased the messy tracks being left. There was so much blood that I could not see where it was coming from. I got DS15 hand underneath the faucet to use water to flow faster than the blood so I could see the location & how big/bad the gash was. I need to know whether to call 911, load DS15 up and drive the 30 miles to hospital or if it was treatable at home. I was able to slow the flow of blood down after about 5 minutes of holding ice on his hand and putting it over his head. He can move all his fingers and make a fist, so at that point I decided it could be treated at home. I washed his hand/arm well and put disinfectant on it. Then covered the gash with large bandage and wrapped it well with an ace bandage. I have DS15 in bed with his hand over his head to relax.
Oh man LM what a jarring episode! That will be a challenge to keep him close while his hand heals up. Do you have clean gloves on hand for him?
Harriet I would hide & donate those legal pads I too dislike how unhandy they are for finding notes. I am enjoying my half sheet size disc-bound one
for notes. Found pages I'd thrifted and they are great for my current prayer project and read a book on prayer so notes can go in it too.
I've walked saw the neighbor a few doors down on the street behind has left with her shed that got evicted / need to pay rent to avoid that it was a hoarder situation I was told. Mice voles etc. were keeping the cats busy when they were clearing out stuff in the yard. She even dug out the plants aka landscaping.
Other neighbor behind that lost her mom in the spring, said her dad is not doing well he fell 2x in the last week her sis is coming this week to try to get him situated in a nursing home, the sister is a hospice worker and knows the drill.
I got the dishes current they are drying & not put away yet. Two days worth it was time.
I am good on my steps for this part of the day.
Cleared off a table and put unfinished fabric on the table to see how it would work it's perfect I left it and put poster board on the main
workspace part and have an area now for paper sorting.
Got some zucchini grated for later.
Mini apple pie is thawing.
Listening to NOVA on space and I want to catch the end of this.
We got ready and went out, heading for the restaurant where dh wanted another burger from... Went north towards the lake and the highway. Saw the traffic going westbound towards where that restaurant is. We were staying on the service road until we could enter the highway 3 miles to the west. Before we got that far, we saw even worse traffic coming east and an accident with police already on scene. I told dh to turn around when we got to the main road so I could cook supper, because I didn't want to get on the highway or stay on any service roads with the amount of traffic which was at a standstill going back east. We were able to take some "back" roads home that had no traffic on them.
I started to make supper and we were eating less than 30 minutes later. It was mac and cheese from a box and fried onions and knackwurst that I brought to a quick boil before putting them on the BBQ for grill marks. We both walked away from the table with full bellies.
I hope your dson can keep his hand above his heart for a while LadyM. Sorry he left you with a mess to clean up.
I've seen a lot of pictures from northern Ontario with the Northern Lights from last night.
I told dh about how I want to take down a very thin "wall" that he installed between the 2 closets when we moved in. He didn't say anything. He didn't say no, either. I told him I would do all the "work". I have to move a costco shelf that has wheels, tap out some thin nails and pull that piece of thin board away and then put the shelf back in.
Looking in….
My COVID test was negative this morning so we went to the river. Dfriends aren’t living there now but we’re going for the day. A’s sister and a nephew were visiting from out of town. They all, dh included, went for a boat ride and V and I hung out on the deck in the shade overlooking the river. So we got to catch up. They were supposed to have dinner with us on Thursday pm for our anniversary and I haven’t seen them in a while.
So quiet day here, but I’m tired. Dh’s team plays football tonight - FL State.
