Monday Mopup

My day took a turn with a text from ds at 6 a.m. saying "Sleep in! Sleep in!"

So I soaked in bed a bit longer and am very slow moving today, finishing the kitchen project by putting away everything I had out while I was working on it. I've updated my photos in the Creative Home thread.

What are you working on today? Mopping-up, moving, or meditating?

I was supposed to leave here at 7 to babysit dgs at his home. When the surprise physio appointment (ddil's first to recover from her ankle injury) came up immediately, they grabbed it and then had to work out how to handle dgs. I agreed to come out because dgs is very good but not good enough to behave through a full medical appointment. It turns out in the scramble to get babysitting, they forgot that dsgd15 is off school today because of the beginning of the exam schedule. So she's babysitting, and I get 4 hours of my day back.

Which I promptly 'wasted.'

Now to get dressed and start in on the weekly house blessing and packing the car for Hay Lake. When I'm there I create a "bring next time" list and when I'm home I pile things to take on the treadmill once they are packed and ready to go in the car. Plus I keep a suitcase on the go in my bedroom, packing things as I think of them (for instance, my 'every 4 days' meds were done yesterday so they are in my suitcase now.)

Ds is sleeping here tonight because he has two 12 hour shifts in a row and ddil suggested he stay here instead of wasting 2 of his 12 hours off driving back and forth. Ironically his shift starts at 7:30 tomorrow but I have to be at the hospital at 6:45 to pick up dgs from ddil as she has a 7 - 3 shift at the same hospital. They hate it when they have to take 2 cars to work because their shifts aren't the same, so this will also save $$ in fuel for the drive.

Woke up at 3 ish today.
I got up and did my QT stuff listening to the rain.
Did some writing rounds.
Got dressed another in the pink outfit.
Spiff counter & desk work space happened.
Trash is ready to go out tomorrow.

Got the crock pot going with meat for meals later.
Had a break from it mid morning so we took that opportunity to sneak in a walk.
It is raining again now.
I have bread raising now good day for it.
-----
After Lunch update / Winds really kicked In glad we walked when we did.
No on mowing or gardening for today.
Still to do walk to the basement for a walk around, and around the house outside for some steps, I did go out to the mail box.
Bread was yummy I sliced the rest for later.
 Pork chops were cut to be like country style ribs as I thought that was what I was getting. M-M-M good.
I did add cauliflower for veg. Nalley's thick chili is my secret recipe. will be added for dinner, and tomorrow will be in a wrap. I'll freeze up what's left.
Hydration is happening.
I cleaned kit. sinks & swept in kit. & dining room too.
Picked up three sm. [1" or less in size ] limbs that blew down.

Tips: I have been known to walk a few laps if I'm at a ballgame for steps.
I did daily walks for mental health years before I ever had a dog.
These days my phone has an app. to check my steps and I have goals and badges to earn makes it more fun.
Tracking in H&F thread it good too.

Waving to all!

Contractor friend has been here, caulked, added flashing around window… now we wait and see what during next rain. Which will probably be every day this week.

Load of towels in washer.

Dgs still here. Thank goodness. I’m still nauseous and shaky. Kinda having chills. Can’t eat. I’m pretty sure I’m not running fever, just nerves.

Lucylee, have you asked your doctor for something very mild to help settle nerves. My concern is a downward spiral of "can't eat due to nerves" "get's weaker because of lack of nutrition" "nerves get worse due to feeling lousy", general downward spiral.

At the very least, it would be good to get out for a daily walk, yes even in the rain, you are excused from tornadoes, for 15 minutes, morning and afternoon. This is where friends and family come in. When my back was out 20+ years ago, and walking was an important exercise for it (and to be mentally stronger to deal with the pain), two friends who had dogs would drop by, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon, and 'walk' me around the block. If you had two friends (or dgs plus a friend) to do that with you each day, it might help settle your gastro nerves.

I'm not a decent example for Lucylee, I haven't left the apartment and have barely done anything at all today.

(I'm distracted by my urge to do something with my bathroom mirror.)

Off to flip the laundry. I can't remake the bed without the sheets (I'm only doing my side of the bed plus the bottom sheet so can't pull the fresh sheets from the cupboard.) Then I vacuum and dust the bedrooms.

Towels in the dryer
Sheets in the washer

Thank you, Kathryn. Since I’m out in the country, it’s hard to have a friend stop by, but dgrands might help when they are here. (About walking.)
Paxil is supposed to be settling my nerves but right now it’s not helping very well, is it?
I just took a second 10mg (remember, doctor prescribed 20 mg back almost 25 years ago, but I never increased from the trial dose of 10 mg.)
Also took another Zofran and 2 Imodium.

Will go get dmom for doctor in about 30 min.
She doesn’t want to be driving at rush hour, when she expects her appointment to be over.

((((LucyLee))) You are navigating your way through this time of intense grief. I have never been through the loss of spouse so don't have any words of experience. I do like Kathryn's idea to be with friends/family and walk. Maybe meet them at a park to walk a lap or two. It would allow you to get out, meet friends & exercise but still have an easy way to end the interaction.

Rotating through the 4 D's is working for me today. I am on my 4th round. I am resisting doing the cards so wanted to try something different. I plan to go through my cards at the end of the day so I will be aware of what tasks I forgot to do.

I miss having beans, cheese, beef, rice & vegetable burritos in the freezer available to eat. They only take 1 minute to take out of the freezer and heat in the microwave so are great fast food while still having good nutrition. I need the basic ingredients so I can make up a couple dozen burritos. I have cooked pinto beans in the instant pot. I am in process of making Spanish rice. I have some hamburger meat thawing that I will cook. The shredded cheese and xtreme tortilla wraps are available. So I am getting closer to being able to make the burritos in assemble line method and wrap them individually.

Perhaps, lucylee, (a big perhaps) dgd could be the cushion-person in between you and your dmother, changing the dynamic enough to make it more casual/ordinary? Just suggesting her because of the fact it would be a girl's day out kind of thing. When I used to take my dmother to appts, the times we had young dd along meant more smiles for my dmother, more doors conveniently held open so I could be at her elbow, more conversation directions. Otherwise thinking of your general well-being: nutrition, hydration.

We are experiencing some wedding-is-close fraying here.
Dd25 had to come home from work after vomiting in the bathroom there - unheard of. There may be some nerves, but mainly she had neglected breakfast because she got up late after staying up so late yesterday trying to get things done before the work week. At least she had a productive morning there, but now a very important meeting looms at 5, so she needs to get back to her "game face" on zoom by then.
And I am coughing some. Taking muci nex, extra D, extra garlic.
HRH had intended to go to get his new slacks and shoes today but that's put off (totally his decision or mistake, whichever this turns out to be). Certainly hope he doesn't get frantic over this later. I need to have my own space for frantic, if needed, rather than helping with his.

The sleeve is 40 percent sewn, so that's on track. Hand sewing is tedious for this task. Long thread, long needle help. Daylight helps.

My eyes failed me on gauging distance this morning and I spilled the water with which I was watering indoor plants. Four different surfaces doused. Sigh. I sure am a lot of trouble.
