Hoping we find things to approve; that make us feel positive.
As much as we can direct it, let's get Thursday to add to our plans and move our week along in the direction we (and our households) need!

By the end of the day, hoping we can confirm : our Thursday deserves a "Thumbs Up!".

Wonderful coverage of the D-Day 80th Anniversary remembrance has been so meaningful in our house today. Grateful to have been able to have the feeds from various locales and see the flyovers, the ships at sea, medals awarded. Many warm thoughts.

I slept in today.
Have a thinking Thursday so far.
Also need to do some yard work in the front yard before it gets hot.

It was an oppressively grey start to the day and then heavy rain. Now we have an hour or two of no-rain with a few sunny breaks before it returns.

I've had a very slow morning, nothing accomplished at all.

I'm off to town to pick up some groceries. The village 20 minutes from here has a tiny grocery store/hardware store with a little of everything campers will need but not a lot more. I'll pick up milk. Hopefully. It is often out when we go, so if it is, I'll have a much longer drive to a larger town with two grocery stores (one of which is a decent one but I haven't been to the other.)

The goal is to get the shopping done before the rain returns so I don't get wet unloading the car.

Good Morning!

We had a prayer of thanks giving and praise this morning because DH is becoming more himself. He is mentally sharp, and his long and short term memory is working again. The brain fog has lifted. He still has no memory of those few days of memory loss that happened 2 weeks ago and probably will never regain that. Otherwise I am declaring that HE IS BACK! We are so very grateful for this blessing.

This takes a huge load off my shoulders. Instead of being DH caregiver I can return to being his partner. We are returning to our previous roles of teaming up to stay up with the kids and home. I am still the primary parent that says yes/no on most of the kid requests but DH volunteers to be the one to go with DS15 as he is transported back/forth multiple times a day. Note to self....only 60 more days until DS15 can drive himself.

My theme for today is - Show up and give some effort. It doesn't have to be the best in the world. Just the best I can do right now. The biggest thing is to JUST SHOW UP.

Hi!

So nice to wake up having no dishes piled up on the counter and a dirty pot on the stove! All I had to do today is take compost, garbage and recycling to the end of the driveway. Too bad it was pouring rain when I did it. I just wanted it done. If I had waited an hour, I wouldn't have gotten so wet.

I was very tempted to go back to the book sale, but I'm in a lot of pain from yesterday. Muscles in my arms got quite a work out carrying heavy bags around the arena. I think I might take the walker we have stored in the garage next year. That way I have a seat and a basket to put all the books into. (Walker used to be his uncle's.)

Supper will be asparagus and pork chops on the BBQ tonight.

Checking in…

Been busy with caring for my friend who is recovering from shoulder surgery. Spent the night with her after her operation to make sure everything went ok. Have done some shoulder care with washing and changing bandages and the such

Also been spending time taking time taking down my sunnies. Their time is over and it requires lots of work to take out their stalks and cleaning out pots.

Meantime I tried my best to get rid of the toxic Oder from the area rug I bought. Nothing worked. Put it in the sun for a week, sprinkled baking soda and vacuumed it numerous times. Sprayed it with a vinegar solution and still the smell was overpowering. Contacted the buys and they offered to send me a new rug. Told them I would only accept it if I could return it if it stunk again.

Rug was too big to cut up and put in the garbage. The toxic smell was so strong I wouldn’t take it to goodwill. Today is garbage day and I asked sweetie if we rolled it up and put it on the curb if he thought the city would pick it up. Figured it was worth a try. Thankfully it’s now gone.

Guest room still had that toxic smell even though I removed the rug on Monday. I opened the window and ran the two fans for two day 24/7. This morning I sprinkled the rug pad with baking soda and that has helped. Will let it sit till tomorrow and then I’ll vacuum it again.

Harriet….hope these next few days go without a hitch. My niece just graduated from college with her RN degree and past her state test. She is getting married in Aug and her countdown has begun

Make sure to breathe and enjoy the day. When my son got married his bride told everyone that no iPhone pictures were allowed during the ceremony. I asked if I could take a picture of my son when he first saw his bride. Everyone was so focused on her walking down the aisle the groom is sometimes forgotten. I was able to capture the very moment he spied her and it spoke volumes of his emotions

Hello to Harriet, Nancy & Kathryn.

Quick post & run. Dh woke up one morning last week feeling worried & overwhelmed with the list of projects he wants to get done. They are mostly maintenance, mostly outdoor projects, but he was trying to keep everything in his head & didn't know where to start because he felt they were all important. So I sat down with him & wrote down all the projects, then we tackled the biggest one one step at a time. Lots of trips out of the house to do research, several phone calls, lots of mornings cleaning out & moving things where workmen needed to be. As of yesterday, it is done! We put the rest of the list in order of importance & have a plan to deal with it all. Luckily we have reliable contractors who have done work for us in the past according to their areas of expertise. Baby steps. Dh feels much better. He shared that he never used to wake up early & worry about things before the pandemic.

Harriet, so excited for you, dd & your family about upcoming wedding! I can remember when we all first started posting here that she was your dd7 . You had asked recently about the Gyro Kits we buy at the grocery store. They are Tasty Chefs Complete Sandwich Kit in a beige box with red lettering. They come with precooked slices of meat, 5 pitas & a container of Tzatziki sauce.

Kathryn, it sounds like you are in your happy place at the cabin. It is SO GOOD to see you here again . I was worried something had happened to your or dh or another family member.

LadyM , so happy to hear the wonderful news about your dh! Such a relief for you both. And wow -- dd13 is now a teenager! I liked your idea of adding eggs to macaroni salad & asked dh if he was willing to try it. He is, so next batch I make I'll put some aside & add a chopped egg to it to see how we like it.

Home after a morning appointment & two errands, including much needed car wash. We have leftover subs for lunch from our favorite family owned shop. I cut mine in thirds & get three meals out of my half. Need to cuop for the last 3 days. Also haven't been to J&C since last time I posted there. I rewatched the mini-series Band of Brothers around Memorial Day & have been watching snippets of videos on you tube of interviews with the men from that company. I never watch war movies (can't say that anymore!) but when this first came out I watched the first episode or two while dh was watching it. I was intrigued that it was based on real people, & it wasn't violent until several hours in. By then I was hooked & watched every episode. I remember crying several times during difficult scenes & being extraordinarily grateful for the sacrifices these men made for us.

Kudos to all of you that drive and go places on you own.
I"m pretty much a home body in my own town.
I have made a call.

I meant Sew is on the list today. X
I may have done knitting / crochet on the deck however.
Now the towels from ddoggo bath are drying on it & she it too.

I have mowed in front & walked the ddoggo.
I'll bathe doggo later on. X
Today's temps. 59* / 82* F.

Meals no clue I have food in the use mostly chicken.
Thawed out brats for dinner.

Start groc. list might be great day for that.
This is the last week of school here play days field trips picnics etc.

I chatted with a person on my walking route I knew his wife, she has old-timers [sp?] I
was in a church chior with her back in my younger days.
I have the washer twins going.
Got my steps in today too.
Cleaned ash out of the fire pit then watered in the back.
Calling "class" three days a week more in members only thread on this.

Got to and from the store in just over an hour. I hate being off the property here. That might change as the summer progresses and I have 'unlimited' time up here, but for now, I just want to sit on the porch or (in a few minutes) the deck.

When I turned onto the highway to head to the store, there were very angry clouds to the south. Those blew away and the line of rain and storms is all just to the east of me. We'll have good weather for the rest of the day (aside from just a few hours.)

After putting my purchases in the fridge, I put on bug spray and went and knocked all the rest of the to-do items off my list for this trip. The water off the 'dock' is only 18" but the dock is 32" from the lake bottom so I've bought a step-stool to put in the water to get up and down when I want to go swimming. So that needed to be checked (we had tested our current stool but that needs to stay at the apartment so I bought a new, better, one for here.)

Then I swept the deck off and hung a bed mosquito net from a tree over the deck. I'll sit out there and read this afternoon, listening to the wavelets against the dock.

My final item was to set up the hummingbird feeder. The research shows it needs to be cleaned and refilled every 2 - 5 days. Uhmmm, that sounds like work so won't be happening! I'll put the feeder back in the shed.
