What is receiving some finishing touches from you today? Finishing up the week well, finishing up a project. Or maybe putting a fine finish, a polish, onto your work?

What makes you step back and admire your efforts these days?

Happy Birthday to helia!

Happy Birthday Helia!! Thanks for starting us off today Harriet!

t's a freezing Friday here. Our temps really dropped over the past couple of days.

I will be picking up cheeseburgers on my way home from knitting this afternoon. A great start to a long weekend.

School is out until the Tuesday after Labour Day, so now stores will seem more crowded and more noisy.

Morning y’all…

Went to class came home and did morning routines, picked up footprints and dusted.

Now for my second cup of coffee. My son and his son are headed over here in while for a swim. I need to take Sweetie to WM later today for an eye appointment. Then I want to pick up a few things while I’m there.

Lucylee… good call to leave your uncle at home. No need to add others when these types of decisions should be made with just you and your son. Hope to get a headstone for my mom in the fall and the only person whose opinion matters to me is my brother.

I never got a chance to post again yesterday afternoon. The meeting at temple was okay, and I got back to the webinar. I ended up cutting it short by 30 min tho so I could walk the dog and change and relax a few minutes before heading to the ball park for dh. Exhausting, even with lower temps it was hot and I felt like I never cooled down. Sweating at the back of my head. I got there around 6:30 and left 8:30. Honestly, didn't watch any of the game, talked to and met clients, and made nice. Got home and put on pajamas and got in bed. Asleep a little after ten and woke up tired.

But, I had a hair appointment at nine a.m. and needed to s2s after sweating last night. I got the dog walked two laps and quick breakfast and got there.

I'm at the point I can't take much more of the firehose of instructor on Zoom - that is, info coming at me like a firehose. I'll be done at 1:15 today. I'm supposed to workout today at three but may beg off and take a nap.

I've not planned anything for our dinner. I hope we'll go out.

Yes, prayers for you on good decisions, lucylee. You will do well.

Arose this morning to a bad skunk smell - didn't think much of it. Posted here, did morning routine.

Went out the back door to find ( VANDALISM  ) that varmints had torn up all my planters there, tossed dsonil's mother's fern upside down and several feet out into yard, pulled every plant out of ds' gift planter and emptied it, ripped up the largest planter (the tree sized one), strewing those flowers at a distance, and overturned a lighter one, upside-down

I took photos first, then tried to at least put plants into the right containers, finding the broken little things everywhere. Hard at times to identify which had been where.

Obviously, this was all done by strong varmints and probably strong. deft paws. Both dstepson and ds think the smell is just a happen-so and it was raccoons that did the damage. Dgs13, dd44's middle son, wonders if, after their damage was done, a skunk came behind trying to see what they might have been after and was chased off? Since the area was the only that had been well-watered in shade, perhaps the goal was to figure out a source of water, or find grubs (HRH's idea), although there would have been little insect life since this was potting soil. Plants weren't eaten.

Because HRH had a kidney dr appt, I went with him and then we stopped by home imp store where he got me another large bag of the good potting soil.

Back home, I've tried to water-in and repair as much as I can, but it's quite discouraging. There's some damage elsewhere, but not much. We'll try the radio idea that we once used to advantage at the other house. Maybe invest in a change to the motion-sensor type of dusk-to-dawn light. (just have regular one dusk-to-dawn now, and maybe they get used to it)

Can't stay out there in the heat, so what I've been able to do will need to suffice until evening.

HRH's appt was very encouraging, with dr writing helpful, positive info on the lists of markers. So, we're doing something right. He's released for a whole year, this time, before he sees the dr again, which is even more encouraging. He will still have blood test again at the 6-month interval, to be reviewed by a nurse.

Well, I'm exhausted and see a nap in my future.

It is mid afternoon here and I just now got time to sit down and take a break. It has been a good day so far with my energy level staying high and mentally staying on target.

This morning started normal (for us) with me doing morning mile and DS15 leaving for work before 7am.
I cooked and ate a good breakfast before leaving the house @8am for the last day of VBS.
After VBS I got a phone call with a request from DS15 for food and drink. DS13 and I teamed up to get them both food from drive through and deliver to DS15.
Then I had to make another trip to DS15 boss home so he could have a licensed driver with him. DH volunteered to be the ride along for DS15.
DBro and DSisIL called for a chat and catchup. They are doing last minute prep to leave for the cool weather in higher elevation of the rockies.
I made a Chinese theme meal for lunch. Beef, onion, pepper, with a tasty sauce.

I am trying to talk myself into not doing VBS anymore. I have been doing it for 5 decades so it seems time to retire from doing it. Should I stop now or continue when I am in my 70's? VBS is exhausting and there are plenty of young people who are volunteering. I am not vital to VBS continuing. However, it brings me such joy to be with the littles that it seems like I would be penalizing myself if I stop. I had a couple of 4 year old boys that made sure I stayed near them all through the VBS sessions. Each time we went from one location to another they would run and grab my hand to hold as we walked. It is nice to be wanted and needed. It was nice to give support and love to the kids who obviously crave it. Hum....I have until next summer to decide whether to stop or continue working in VBS.

(((Harriet)))) That is so discouraging to see your beautiful plants dug up. I'm sorry they have discovered your paradise and brought destruction. I hope you and family can find a way to keep them from repeating their unwanted ways.

i continue with my fight against voles and armadillos. I have little hope that I can completely eradicate them from the garden and yard, but with experimentation I have found ways to protect the plants from their destruction.

[Narrator: This was probably at 1:30 p.m.?] I saw a nap in my future but remembered that I have my workout this afternoon. I know it's good for me, I've been sitting all week and even stretching and balance work would be beneficial. Dtrainer says she'll be nice to me, lol, lol. I've talked myself out going several times over.

---------------------
Much, much, much later. Every time I sit down here at the computer I have to hop up and do something. I went to the workout and felt good that I got there. I am tired, as evidenced by all my huffing and puffing and just not having the strength but I got there. Core, balance, legs, cardio.

Home again, and at 4:30 I laid down and set alarm for one hour and slept. Then walked ddog one lap. For the record I have 8400 steps for now. I sat down here at the computer and dfriend V texted to ask if I had time to talk. So we talked, and now, here I am.

We decided not to go out tonight. Dh is tired too so I took a lasagna out of the freezer for us. I'm going to settle on the couch now and watch Andy Griffith with dh for awhile, I hope. (whoops, now dh is watching the news now....so much for Andy Griffith tonight.)

I'm hoping I can feel like I've caught up this weekend. We'll be at the river on Thursday.

I have to say, dh is less than sympathetic to me feeling worn out by my week. Mentally, I've been hit by a firehose of info this week, and I've not attended to a lot of things here because I've been parked upstairs. Then there's the heat, including last night at the ballpark with two hot dogs and a cold beer that didn't agree with me. And the quick trip early on today, and less than adequate breakfast today. And I've been keeping up with my steps by walking the dog outside in the heat and will make the 7500 step per day average this week.

I need to keep some kind of health/energy journal. I was so tired at the end of last week. Is this the new normal?

I have chatted with my sister and cleaned inside windows way over due task.
Got to do the kitchen on still and the outside on the patio doors. X
I'm saving that for later maybe in the morning.
-----
Just has a guy coming door to door to try to get me to sign up for dish net work.
I would not let him in. Took a pic of my cable box & showed it to him. Ddoggo was being protective.
I listened to him out side on lawn chairs in front, but heck no not putting holes in my brand new roof.
I had not considered dish but have not heard good things about them.
Could be an option but he would be gone in a week hard to trust door to door folks if you are me.
