Our A/c isn't working again and dh came home from work to drain the pan again. So dh is underfoot but he also has an A/c guy coming this afternoon. And also a guy to upgrade some outside equipment for our fiber optics, so I'll be offline for awhile.

I have eye appointment at 11 a.m across town.

I am up went back to bed today at 4 for a bit up at 5:15 it was lite by then.
Walk is done glad for better air here.

BitterSweet - Thank you for getting us started this morning.

This is our LAST FULL WEEK of summer. School starts next week. *sigh*
I am moving DD13 wake up time from 9am to 8am to start the transition. Next week her wake up time will be adjusted from 8am to 7am.

Life as I know it is back to normal with DS15 being home. My phone has rung 5 times before 10am and I have done 2 road trips for DS15. Only 7 more days until he turns 16 and can take the driving test.

Speaking of being back to normal.....We are back to triple digit temperatures. It is that time of the year. August is always our hottest month of the year.

Cooking today -
** Manwich for DH
** Ground beef without seasoning for teens
** Grilled Tilapia for me.

Declutter/deep cleaning game continues. DD13 selected 2 cards to do today. One of them is her dreaded desktop. It is piled with over a foot high of STUFF. DH and I will be focusing on the back porch chairs. After decluttering the area around the chairs I will be painting them. I have decided to get another power washer to clean the porch walls.

I have watered all but one time.
Took a time out on that to shower and
do an errand a bit early my bday donation to the county fire dept.
for snacks or what ever maybe they can fix the oven.
I pick a cause and it goes there this year that came to mind.
And with all the fires around knew they would pick what ever was the best place for it to go.

Oh and some good news the fire in Ore. close to the border Durkee fire 49% contained.
Watched net flicks.

Quick check in since dgs3 is napping and I don't have a million things to do.

Dh is now taking him out in the kayak in the morning and that gives me an hour to myself to get dressed, clean up, organize and plan. So nap time isn't as important and I can just sit. I'm actually inside at the moment, instead of on the porch because it is a bit warm outside.

We had a lovely weekend with dh's childhood best friend and his new partner. Words don't suffice for the happiness I felt over that time together. Dgs fell in love with them and was cuddling and playing happily with them and they loved it. They are both childless so no grandchildren possibilities which is a shame because they both would make wonderful influences in a child's life.

Dgs is settling into life without them here. His potty training is more potty offering. Because this isn't my furniture or carpets, I'm a bit more uptight about the potential for accidents. So far the biggest issue is his peeing through the diapers at nap and overnight. Last night I put him in a double diaper (an xLarge overnight pullup, all the local store had to purchase, and his overnight diaper.) That still leaked but only a quarter-sized spot so we left it.

The bedding is an issue only because the camp cot is so hard to make up. Last night I gave it a lot of thought and next time the bed needs changing (which could be as soon as an hour from now!), I'll pull out my self-inflating camp mattress, put it into the plastic mattress cover I have, and then make that up on the spare bed at a better height than 5" off the floor, then carry the whole thing into his room and put it on the cot.

Laundry isn't the issue, it's the stooping to make the bed.

Last night I wasn't feeling all that well, either with gastro issues that led to a laundry challenge for me too. I have set up a clothes line and after nap, I'll run our laundry.

I don't want to leave here at all but we do in 2 days so I have to start thinking ahead a bit.

I had a crazy busy morning but got out of the house on time for eye appointment. Dh came home, used wet vac on the condensation pan again, then outside, got the actual drain unclogged so when it accumulates water it will drain out instead of stopping a/c. The guy was here working on the internet - they're upgrading some of the outside equipment and came by last week when turning off my internet was not optimal. So that happened. I only walked the dog a lap - dh was home and I wanted to consult with him, and I was hot already and didn't want to sweat more before I left the house. Since dh got the drain unclogged, the a/c guy isn't going to come this afternoon. He's a friend of dh's and has sold his biz but does a few small jobs for friends.

Good visit to eye doc - he's a long-time friend and was actually in our wedding. He recently got a pacemaker/defibrillator. The thing is, he dilatated my eyes for the exam so I came home and napped. Eyes are still sensitive. I got new glasses after they were destroyed in Amsterdam - they just made those based on prior prescription but I needed an eye exam to get new sunglasses. Not enough change to warrant changing regular glasses, and ordered new sunglasses.

I'm going to try to redeem my afternoon. I need to:
-clear and wipe kitchen counters
-make the bed (remove the dog)
-go to the nearby grocery store for veggie and fruit (or drive to veggie/fruit stand a few miles away?)
-move laundry over, I had started a load before I left for eye exam and just found it.

Hi!

I did some dishes this morning. Went to knitting, which was enjoyable. Came home, had a quick lunch and went to the afternoon group. Once again, there wasn't anyone there because it's summer time. Came home and dh was sleeping in the bed. I put supper on the stove on the lowest temperature and went and crawled in with dh in the air conditioned room. I slept until 4:30, got up and served supper as it was ready and we were both very hungry.

Thankfully dh kept all the windows closed today and with the a/c on, we were very comfortable.

I need to empty the dishwasher and do the pot from today and there are some sharp knives to do as well.
