It's going to be an amazing month, isn't it? Can you feel it starting up? What are your plans, hopes, wishes, for this eighth month of 2024? It's back to school for many, end of summer and trending toward fall, but still Hot Hot and Hot.

And a Happy Birthday in heaven today to Mr. Lucylee. We'll all be thinking of him and supporting Lucylee, today and going forward.

Let the month begin!

Good Morning!

Twins - Thank you for the start.

(((LucyLee))) We are here for you as you experience another first.

I did a deep dive into July data. As a person who loves numbers and formulas, I find it interesting resulting in time seems to evaporate while I am doing it.

DH and I have politely butted heads today. He has been outside working in the heat for over an hour, so I reminded him that it was time to stop and cool down. He didn't want to stop, but I am a nagging persistent wife who won't stop insisting that he doesn't overheat himself. Eventually he gives up and listens to me. He knows that I am standing my ground out of concern that he doesn't cause another TGA episode. I promised him that I won't say a word and he can work outside all day long once we are in fall, winter & spring temperatures. It is just during this triple digit heat time that he can NOT do it.

Continuing with our taste test of frozen ready-to-eat food from sams.

Today we taste test and rated - Angus beef patties
**Flame Grilled Angus Choice Beef Patties was voted barely acceptable. At least no one spit it out. But everyone preferred to have fresh hamburger patty cooked rather than frozen patty. Cost =$1.67 each
** Flame Grilled Angus Beef Patties. No one likes this and quicky got rid of their bite. Comments made - taste like a bike tire.....taste like a cigarette. Price = $1.42 each

Result - This experiment showed that we will not be buying anymore frozen grilled beef patties. uck.

Instead we do like getting a bag of cheeseburgers at Braums. They are $6 for 5 cheeseburgers with buns and toppings. I usually buy a couple of those bags of burgers every week to keep in the ready-to-eat section of the refrigerator. Everyone loves those.

I'd say good morning but see that it isn't.

My day has got away from me.

We came home yesterday. Dgs3 had such a lovely smile on his face when he spotted his house as we drove down his street. Then he started to yell "Hi MOMMY!!!" even though she wasn't in a window or outside. When the car pulled into his driveway and stopped he started to scream HELP ME!!! because he was desperate to get out. Mom heard us pull in and he was overjoyed.

Lots of hugs etc, then he was calling to us from the living room window as we unloaded his stuff. I came in to go to the bathroom and he came over to give me a hug. I said "Hi" to his sister and, in his excitement, he hadn't seen her sitting in the dark in a corner of the living room and he ran over to her and showered her with hugs and kisses.

We left shortly later and he gave us lovely hugs goodbye. Such a contrast with dd's kids who didn't even say goodbye when we dropped them off but ran off and ignored us.

Lucylee's comment last night but children appreciating their parents prompted me to share that reunion scene.

I did three loads of laundry before bed and a fourth this morning and am all caught up. I only slept 7.5 hours, despite expecting I'd sleep 10 like I did after dropping off dd's kids. That's a sign of how dgs was less work despite the toilet training and general 'being 3'.

I got the plants watered but have to plant a cutting from our ficus since there are lots of roots on the branches that are in a jar of water, and we are planning to go away again soon.

I'm off to the store now because I need vitamins and a whole lot of other things. I have a delivery to make at 5.

My pile of things to remember to take up to the cottage are in the staging spot now, along with the laundered sheets and towels.

Hi!

Unlike yesterday's toppsy-turvvy day that was somewhat upside down and not too much fun as far as feeling like I did stuff, but I didn't get anything done at home. Dh kept telling me he wasn't hungry for supper, but he had crackers and a couple bananas and who knows what else and I ended up having a toasted peanut butter and jam sandwich. Not filling at all. Thankfully there wasn't too much junky food to get into.

Today I got a trunk load of stuff dropped off at the thrift store. I don't go in, because we don't need anything.

Supper tonight will be smoked pork ribs. Dh went to a grocery store without me this morning while I was out. He wants a can of brown beans to go with the ribs. I will also boil up some of the tiny potatoes.

I told dh that our new mattress must be enchanted because I have been having so many naps this summer! That's my excuse!

The heat is back, we'll be at a baseball game tonight and we have a heat advisory with potential "heat index values" up to 108. He does have an A/C box for the evening but my experience with the boxes is that their a/c doesn't hold up well in evening heat, particularly since most face directly west. Heat index is already 99. High humidity today - two laps with ddog left me sweaty this a.m.

In between now and tonight I need to workout and vote and walk dog again. I'd like to take a shower before I go to game but possibly not. Depends on timing and how tired I am.

I had a massage at ten this a.m. and got house mostly ready for dcleaning lady, who is here now, instead of tomorrow a.m.

---------------

above was before voting and workout, I left it here without posting.

Workout was great as usual. Not as hard as Tuesday, thankfully, and I voted on the way there so that's done.

Need to walk ddog soon and s2s to go back out. It's a rare day when I have to leave the house three different times.

Tomorrow I have a morning haircut and I'm done for the week. I still need to make that wedding card for Saturday.

Kathryn, when do you back to the cottage?

Good for you on writing, Nancy. You go!

Cathy, do you sleep poorly when you nap too much?

LadyM, we get a bag of already grilled burgers at Costco that are pretty good. It's an easy lunch or dinner for us. I'm afraid it's probably one of the two you guys taste tested. OTOH, we often use the ones that are frozen and go on the grill, still frozen, and I'm not impressed with them.
