It's Friday, finally. It's been a too busy week here.

What are you working to finish this week? or plans to execute for the month and finish?

I woke up way early but stayed up to journal and watered at dawn b/c it was still hot last nite &
I was tired. So did that and walked glad for morning coffee later. It's been lite a while. Squirrels are
playing in the tree now. Spotted a head light out on the neighbors car yesterday and was able to
let them know today. I do not see or craft gifts I do it for fun and therapy. I went over my camp notes
get some impressive ones. And the project is overwhelming I have to keep reminding myself to take it
one pages at a time or one paragraph at a time.
My need a nap today.

I need to mop and vacuum & spiff up the bathrooms today for my finishing up.
Sheets too.
Breakfast in a bit.
I guess I have a plan now.

Waving to all.
Thanks Twins for the start today!

I thought the finish line was getting my hair cut at 10:30 but the line has been moved. I now have a 1 p.m. Zoom about revisions to the article, that, frankly, I believe it already nearly perfect. (Of course I do!) Turns out that five reviewers have read it during the last six days, and two of the five suggested restructuring the beginning and/or revisions to more clearly define the research question. And you know I'm sick of it already (remember I labored over it probably 18 months before submission to BCG, and the submission will be two years ago end of Nov.)

Otherwise, I'd like a major nap today. Yesterday was too busy and then I sweated the entire evening at the ball game. I added a gatorade to my water before going, and drank part of another diluted gatorade when I got home. But I feel pretty worn out by going, going, going yesterday, and all the people - even tho some are friends and we visited a little, it's not relaxing IMHO when you can hardly hear them. I drank one beer and ate one hot dog. Too hot even to drink or eat, honestly.

High will be 94 today but chance of T storms later too.

I think I am skipping a.m. shower, even after sweating so last night, because I'm just running out of time. She will wash my hair this a.m. anyway. I didn't get out of bed until 8:15 and was dragging then.

Hah! I came here to open the village but then had to stop because today is Friday. That is news to me despite managing to take the right day's vitamins this morning. The day we get home from the cottage is always "Monday" in my head due to the laundry and tidying involved and that throws me off mentally!

Today's focus is:

1. Water intake. There wasn't enough yesterday. Twins Good job on thinking about hydration at the game last night! You are my inspiration today.

2. Paperwork. I've been ignoring it.

3. Business stuff. I have to make sure I'm up to date. Plus look into installing the accounting software onto my current computer. I have a perpetual license but apparently it doesn't work on my current operating system.

4. Costco? (Possibly, it is optional as far as I'm concerned.) Walmart return of the cereal keepers (might be delayed to tomorrow) and grocery store (may also be delayed unless there's a compelling reason to go.)

5. Dinner out at our local pizzeria. We had frozen pizza leftovers from the cottage's local place (22 minutes away) on Monday at the cottage so I could do without this but dh wants to go and I'll have veggies before we go.

6. Cut up veggies to have with salsa, and deal with the lettuce in the fridge, i.e. make a salad to eat before heading out for dinner.

Cathy: the Gemberee is this weekend. If we leave first thing on Sunday we could detour through Bancroft on our way up. That would also eliminate any grocery store run today since we couldn't take up things that need to stay really cold but will pick up food from the Bancroft grocery store after leaving the Gemberee. Dh is willing to go even though he isn't interested.

So far today I've updated my facebook account.

And found a reference to this Anti-Planner which intrigues me. I have a planner system I'll stick with so am not interested in buying it (or recommending it) but looking at some of the pages in the Amazon listing, there are some fun ideas to motivate me when I'm overwhelmed. Those games really do help at time, for instance I think I've taken apart my chore bingo cards (although it might be behind the buffet in the dining room!) but loved playing it. This planner includes the idea of using a paper Fortune Teller for picking tasks, or the flip a coin method. It is worth it to go to the link and go through the pages that are illustrated. If you double click on one of the pictures, a separate window opens and includes two extra pictures not in the listing that illustrate the Fortune Teller, a Labelling technique, and a Kanban board (which many of you may already have come across in your studies of how to be efficient.)

Poof! I'm off to shower now.

Thanks for sharing that planner. It does not tempt me to switch to using it, but I do enjoy looking for ideas to incorporate into my current planning method. They have some great ideas.
Sometimes I just don't want to do something that seems overwhelming and difficult. I give up without trying. UNLESS I break the project down into small pieces and play a game. It makes the process feel almost like a game and gets me started. Whatever can get me moving and past my reluctance and procrastination is a win IMHO.

I reviewed the August monthly calendar and groaned. My days of having a loose schedule with minimum requirements are coming to an end. Ugh. I have two more open and free days (today and tomorrow) and then every single day has something happening. I need an attitude adjustment instead of pouting. Taking a deep breath and turning my sadness to see the summer vacation mode ending into gratitude. I am thankful for having a break this summer. I am thankful for having a healthy busy family. I acknowledge that having a full calendar is part of those blessings. It is a season of life. Sometimes it is slow paced and sometimes it is fast paced. It is time for me to welcome the switch to a different life phase that is faster paced.

Hi!

Yesterday dh went to a store that had chicken leg quarters on sale. He got 2 packages that he repackaged with the food saver, and there were 4 meals worth for $20. This morning I went back and got 4 large packages for $40. Dh will do the food saver thing this afternoon. Lots of chicken into the freezer which was looking a bit empty.

It has been raining here since before I woke up.

Kathryn have fun. That solitary grocery store used to be an I.G.A. back when I still went up there. I haven't been up there since before 1994.

We are having Chinese food for supper. Whether it will be at a buffet restaurant or picked up from a local place will depend on how dh feels by 4 o'clock. I told him it was okay with me if we got the local stuff.

LadyM, my hairdresser and I were talking about how getting back into routines when school starts feels good after a summer off. Bittersweet to end summer break, but necessary. She has a first grader going back.

Cathy we stock the freezer with chicken breasts and thighs from Costco, speaking of which, that's what's for supper.

Kathryn, I'm usually a champion at getting enough water, and the hot weather has me wanting something added to it because it feels like just water isn't enough. I also have some sugar free "Liquid IV" packets to add to water. I don't use a whole packet but add to make it more interesting too.

Dreading Zoom, which is now in 35 minutes. I didn't finish a.m. routine so I'll wipe down counters and then head upstairs.

Zoom call is over, rewrite is primarily the first paragraph, i.e. setting up the research question of the case study. I'll do a rewrite, in a separate word article and make sure I'm going in the right direction before integrating it in and changing footnotes. I'm going to reread the article in full, with changes that have been made by copy editor, etc., before writing.

Also did pre-op stuff on phone with hospital for next week's surgery. They want me there at 5 a.m. And I did the online check in stuff too.

Q. of the day did your mom have some one come in to clean for her when you were growing up?
No. There were 4-5 kids living in our home when i was growing up and the females were assigned tasks to do the cleaning, washing, etc. I don't remember the males doing anything inside the house. There was a clear divide of duties according to gender. The male family members did car maintenance, livestock care and yard maintenance. I don't remember ever having hired help.

I cooked a package of turkey bacon so it will be eaten by family members. i bought the turkey bacon for myself then I discovered it isn't the best fit for my eating parameters.
I made 8 sandwiches using hoagie sub bread and have them individually packaged and ready to eat. The teens will make them disappear within a day or two.

I am a little embarrassed that it took me so long to start experimenting with the Nanja creami machine. It has been sitting waiting for me to use it for the first time. I knew there would be a learning curve but IMHO I spent too much time doing research instead of hands-on trial. I quit trying to find the perfect recipe the first time and just threw some ingredients in and gave it a try. It was SO SIMPLE and the results were wonderful. I expect it will be a daily use to make high protein, simple ingredient frozen treats. Shaking my head at myself.... Why did I wait so long to try it?
