Storm Prep Sunday
Joining RR in storm prep today and praying for those in its path this week.
If you don't have a storm on your horizon, do some prep for the week, for the month, for holidays!

Re: Storm Prep Sunday
Storm prep. had been on my mind and I've been to the store and did a pantry re-stock.
Found the winter prep. list in the power company bill.
So putting flash lites on the list is next.
I had water bottles jugs here on hand and most of those have been filled except the outside ones that need rinsed off & are in the plant cage now.
Tuna pouches are one of the items I've added in the past few years.
I have hogie style sans. I use in the week that could be another option to freeze up ahead.
I used to do cup of soup when I ate noodles in the past but no longer eat those.
Not in the storm area now learned my church is not effective doing distributions of items gathered so found a better
way to donate @ my local Walmart gave funds for them to use in needed areas much more efficient, and I do not
have to choose items, do not have to shop for or deliver em to the church. The new way is great because they can do the
bulk thing. Some churches are way better at that than mine was. [They wanted snack bars for schools that sat all summer
and did not go out. So I made a mental note of that and changed my way of giving.]
Other prep. I need to do
early this week book case to unload and move so furnace duct cleaning can happen easier for the workers.

Re: Storm Prep Sunday
Thanks Twins…
I had my lania ready late yesterday afternoon. Our shutters are up. Gonna do another load of laundry. My son has made reservations in Homestead if we need to leave. Right now the storm models show the storm hiring either Tampa or here. I would stay but a promise is a promise and if it gives my son peace of mind that I’m with him that’s what a mama does.
Meantime I need to do laundry and take a shower. Then I’ll worry about packing.
Kathryn … I keep a hard copy of my packing list in my filing cabinet so no need to worry here.

Re: Storm Prep Sunday
hello d twins - thank you for starting us!
Thinking of everyone as they prep for the storm.
I have to admit I watched Roots and Refuge about prepping for emergencies - I realized my water bottles/canned protein/etc is low compared to what should be there. I, and my family, get lax when we are ok for long spells.
glad your shutters are up d rose. you have a good son! so happy you have a reservation. It's better to go -
I watched helpless as my daughter had to watch over mom while living through the hurricane and high flooding/washout. no electricity for 10 + days, no fresh food, living in heat and humidity. My brother could not get to them. The hurricane hit their place hard and sirens kept going off (dd's poor dog was scared) and the videos of the wind hitting the building (plus other things) was horrible. My mother wouldn't leave and she could have flown out in time.
I am glad you are willing to go. It will give your d son peace!
Hi d Nancy! it so great that Walmart is helping others
I hope today turns out to be a very good day and that the storms (of all kinds) weaken and veer away (that the hurricane stays over water and dissipates.
hello to everyone.

I have to declutter my spaces
I also have to realize that I will have to simplify my garden for next august.
we had that beautiful rain a week ago but everything is wilting again.
setting timer.

Re: Storm Prep Sunday
Good morning!
RR - BWTG on having a plan. I didn't think about the possibility of going south to be out of path of Milton, but it makes sense. I would expect the majority will go north and traffic will be a consideration. Your son sounds wise.
DS16 had a friend spend the night. It wasn't the cause of our slow start to the day but just an extra cog in the wheel. We didn't get around in time to attend our preferred early church service this morning. We will go to church for evening service later today.

LadyM…
Made no sense to north as I-4 would become a parking lot especially around the Tamp/St Pete. I suggested the Miami area but he had already made reservation in Homestead. There still will be tropical storm weather with rains and winds but not as bad as here. I will still pack flashlights, a case of water and a cooler to make sandwiches as there is no guarantee that we won’t loose power. Will also take plenty of cash in case the atm machines and may take extra gas.

Re: Storm Prep Sunday
When we were on the mountain storm our prep was more important. In our first house we were once without electricity for four or five days but the weather was mild - this time of year. I kept lanterns and flashlights and candles and all at the ready. We're basically in town now with a major road less than a mile away. And we haven't had much snow in quite a few years. Having some storm ready food and water is a great idea.
I need to eat my breakfast/brunch. I've walked the dog and started a load of laundry - the table clothes from Thursday.
Last night I enjoyed seeing Alabama go down to Vandy, and I enjoyed the subsequent movements of Vandy's goal post. As an SEC fan I always enjoy seeing AL get beat. Not TN's night however. Dh was switching from TN/Ark back and forth to FL State/Clemson. We gave it up at 11 p.m.
Echoing LadyM's comments on your plan, RR. I hope it's path stays steady and doesn't surprise you and others. So hard to tell. When my sister passed away in Macon GA in Oct 2016, it was hard to get a reservation for a hotel because Matthew was coming ashore in SC. Best to make plans early!

Re: Storm Prep Sunday
I was glad the Ark. Razor backs won!
Got the book case & lamp and one basket and a serving tray moved yea!
So I'm good for my morning steps.
Blessed I to watched the Roots & Refuge yt channel. I am not going to garden like she does however.
Me not going to can up food either but make a few adjustments after no heat or natural gas here last fall made me
rethink a lot of stuff. Plus the un used can goods can be donated at the end of the season if not used home canning nope! LOL!
With furnace duct folks coming Tues. my stacks are in the other bed rooms sort of scarry! Oh my might be decluttering more.
I have spaced cleared but need to move some items not sure where or how but I can do a bit in each room later today & tomorrow.
