Magical for me because the house is quiet. WHAT am I going to do when dh retires? I'm really worried about it!
Where's the magic for you today? Getting ready for Halloween? Crafty pursuits? (Do tell!) Keeping up with mom and dh and dogs? (Bw2, looking at you....)

I could not sleep so got up by 4 ...
Started soup and it's done in jars and now cooling on the deck!
Seems magical that I have thawed some rolls & they raised and are baking for later on.
I checked out the freezer and used up some of the mystery items for a wonderful diff. mix of veg. in that soup!
I've done my walk about in the basement and fetched a pack of diff. veg. for the one I do next later in the week or next week.
Was a bit stiff from yesterday's activities I did my stretching and hydrated that seems to be helping.
qt & journaling has been accomplished.
It's just now getting lite outside.
Rounded up the trash to go out later.
Decluttered branches counting fire pit fun yesterday for that!
Dishes have been put away.
Rolls look lovely I did bake only 4 of them got em bagged up.
Crocheted a round had to cut back a bit on that to protect my shoulder.
a.m. grooming happened & I got dressed.
Have a great day.
Waving to everyone!

re: dh retirements - Twins', I was eased into this since HRH took on mostly consulting work near the end of his formal career and then kept that up - maybe until after some would have cut off work completely. He would be at home some underfoot but often in his office fussing on the phone, then out at some plant criticizing (lol) for the rest of the time. I'd just say encourage your dh to participate in whatever out-and-about endeavors/hobbies/groups he might enjoy. Also, I have made significant rearrangement here to make his office separate and secluded. I had a tall china cabinet placed at an odd spot that confused dstepson completely, but I was right - it gives the living areas another layer of visual separation, at least, from even the entrance to that office, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
I didn't eat as well as I should have yesterday with so much company. Didn't sleep well through the first part of the night.
Morning Dailies done well. Watching for a delivery for which someone has to be present.

Sitting at the hospital. Duncle has had breakfast and a CT scan, but otherwise, it’s pretty quiet around here. I will probably be here till my dcousin gets off work (she’s an aide at the elementary school.) I don’t think the doctor has been in to see him.
We are hoping he will be here 2 more nights so he will qualify for 21-day rehab and dcousin can figure out what to do whim. She just can’t bear to put him in the nursing home for a long term. Personally, I think that’s where he needs to be, but if she wants to take him home with her, fine with me. I just do not have that gift. (Harriet, I will forever be grateful for that phrase.)
She does not want to let him go to her mom’s bc (1) her mom has some memory issues also, and (2) her mom is still too active to be burdened with caring for him, and they would be on their own during the day, while dcousin who lives there also is at work.
Based on the way he treated his late wife, I am not as sympathetic as my dcousin… but I will try my best to support her in whatever she thinks she needs to do. She is now on his checking account and has been managing most of his business since daunt passed away.

lucylee, you are right where you are needed. Hoping the rest of your day goes well and uncle improves. No broken or fractured bones? That would be a relief.
Guys, ds just sent a photo of carving a pumpkin for himself with a Skil Saw and HRH is laughing - he's thinking up a response to that. Evidently last evening they had a messy family night of JackOLantern-making. Dgson's has eyes looking sideways somehow - too funny. That took some more delicate work, for sure. They are holding them in their laps and dgdC is nearly hidden.
Still no delivery. tap, tap, tapping foot... ..

hello again dear ones! I was thinking this morning of how fortunate I feel that I get to spend time with all of you again!!! Such a joy!!!
my eldest noticed this page open and both girls were so happy for me; I am as well!!! I can't tell you all how much gratitude I have! They asked if I kept the letter from sweet Harriet and of course I did!
hello d twins - thank you for the start!!!! quiet - yay!!!! I know you are worried. I understand. I would discuss things ahead and write you wants and needs down, your own boundaries that you can work with.
I do understand!
retirement: My dh got sick and was forced to retire when he was 54. It was almost a year later that he felt better and we started true retirement-he couldnt' go back to work. . It was a hard transition in the fact that he expected me to fill his entertainment needs and he didn't have hobbies. It took a long time to set boundaries which every so often have to be discussed again. You may want to set up a conversation, calendar, rules (no inviting people out or over (activities etc) without discussing it - either they go on their own or work out a date together). dd's noticed that dh was understanding about his wants but not getting it was a burden on me. It has taken time and going back to my own reminders of what my boundaries are. I actually had to write a set of boundaries - not for him - but for me so that I don't fall down the hole where I am driving everywhere etc.
d Nancy sorry you couldnt' sleep. yay on your soup! how nice that you have rolls ready for baking!!! mmmm
a fire pit sounds lovely
yay on crocheting.
have a great day!
d harriet yay on morning dailies!!! have a great day oh my gosh tooo funny - a skill saw and a pumpkin!!! love it!
d Lucy thinking of you!
I agree with your cousin - has anyone spoken to the social person in charge of his case - they can put him in special care - he would have to sell his business and home - I know we couldn't take in my uncle and my mom paid for his care at home at it was so expensive.
praying for the right decision! There is only so much you and your d cousin have done all that you can do.
hello everyone!

I am back in from fire pit duty and have done it and the flowerbeds are free of those piles of branches.
Yea! For that the ddoggo had fun mole hunting.
It is now ten thirty.
I walked around the block have 80% of my steps in for the day.
I checked around the fire pit for odd twigs I forgot and some bigger sticks
I missed are going not on the hot coals.
I have rinsed my hair out.
Checked on the fire pit and raked up some stick pieces and it's going a bit more slowly now.
I rested and took a break. Ddoggo is having a break from mice hunting.
Did some knitting yea!
Good news the neighbors are using the shock collar on their barky dog that barks at me when I'm in my own yard. I was able to finish my laps in peace today yea! Sp happy. Got my steps in now.

fed mom, she wants to stay home - she is finally up and feeling fine. I have a camera that can see if she drinks her water. She wants to stay home and she is happy about working at home. She wanted to wash her dishes (two days in the sink) - If they aren't done when I get there for dinner then I will wash them with her or just do them and put them away. She doesn't know that she does not do well being alone (mentally and PhysicallY) - but we all need time by ourselves!
it's already 12:57 pm.
dd younger is busy talking to our neighbor
He lost his wife (only 51) in April of this year. lovely man
my d brother in law lost his sweet ddad this morning.

a good man.
pulling cards - I need to get going.
changing my attitude to a can do - you have got this!
2:59 pm geesh - I went down the rabbit hole - I joined the butter book cooking program as I had always planned on taking bread and pastry making at the French culinary school which unfortunately closed 11 months ago. The founder started a program for beginners and professionals that are master classes. I love master classes! After research and talking to dd younger - I bit the bullet and am no signed on for these lessons. dds and joined the croissant class through King Arthur flour but I wanted more.
so there it is!
hello everyone.
feeling my lazy bones enjoying every minute. but super lazy.
dd younger used her sourdough run offs to make sour dough focaccia that will have roasted tomatoes, garlic, rosemary etc. on the top - it smells wonderful in the house.
