Frugal Friday

This day of the year, however its modern reputation precedes it (yipes), is really about being frugal and shopping wisely, isn't it? Yes, there is that frantic retail-hopping and consumer worry out there. We can get into a shoving match over the latest and greatest gadget or toy if we want to, but homemakers don't really need a day for thinking budgets and thoughtful spending! That's every day for us!
How are you being frugal and calm this day/season/year? You may impart some wisdom that helps the village!
And, if you do wrestle in the store aisles today, well, tell us about that, too.

I never shop Black Fridays and stay away from the store like the plague!
Today I’m taking Sweetie on a magical mystery tour of our old neighborhood and the surrounding areas. Then we’ll go over to my brothers to spend time with my nephew and family. Looking forwards to that.
It’s cold…gonna be 42 today and in the 30’s tomorrow. I love this kind of weather so I am a happy camper.
Waving to y’all

Got all put one fall decoration put away the last one will be put away Sun. I'm still enjoying it.
I boiled eggs last night I need to peel them today for meals this weekend.
Peeled eggs yea.
Brought home some carbs to eat today & tomorrow for me and ddoggo

Eat at home clean & no shopping is my Frugal Fri. plan.

Good Morning!
I have no desire to go compete with the crowds for brick-n-mortar shopping deals. I am cheering on those who choose to do so and hope they enjoy the experience.
I do check for online deals for items that I regularly purchase. Amazon has a "Buy Again" button to be able to quickly scroll through previous purchases. It is easy to see what is truly Black Friday prices. I can quickly look at invoices for the item and see what I previously paid. For example -
Franks Hot Sauce was $3.64 the last time I purchased it in June. Today it is on sale for $2.54
This is about as exciting as I get with Black Friday shopping.

Hi!
RRose it's 32 F here, which is 0 Celcius. Brrr... Iit's going to get a lot colder before spring comes.
I've gotten groceries and medications for myself and dh. I have a very sore throat still, and finally got a call from the doctor to tell me they called in a prescription to my pharmacy of choice. I also went to the pet store for a large bag of dry cat food.
Now that I've had a few minutes break, it's time to bring the groceries in and put them away. I'm having chicken noodle soup for lunch.
Shortly thereafter...
I just made dh a huge pot of chili for supper. It just has to simmer for a while so the beans and onions all get cooked, Meat was cooked before anything else went in. It smells so good in here.

I am enjoying a calm household that gives me opportunities to do frequent trips to the garden. I watered the young seedlings growing that were not affected by the freezing temp. I continually gather leaves and summer plants. They are put near or on the fire pit. I filled and burned one load in the fire pit today. I should have harvested cauliflower head before the freeze but i think it will still be okay. One of them is about the size of a small basketball. Ditto on should have already harvested the broccoli. I plan to do that later today.
The instant pot cooked some jasmine rice while I worked on removing meat from turkey. I combined the rice, turkey gravy and chunks of turkey breast for the family.

all the girls on dh's side of the family (including dd's and myself (and dd''s dog)) had a lovely fun time together. night time dinner at the Mexican restaurant, we had 16 girls from the family. all but one came. so much fun. out of the house at 6 am which is later than ever before. We got home at 9 pm.
(actually not many people were out)
My d brother in law made apple butter from his tree for all of us. it's the best apple butter that I have ever tasted.
We also had a lovely time for thanksgiving. Mom had a great time. She physically is amazing and she maybe forgot once in a while but she was social and enjoyed the time with everyone.
Mom did great the day after thanksgiving when I wasn't home. - she did spend the whole day in pjs and missed her evening meds - - I think she took them this morning bc when I called she said she had pills on her counter -no pills when I got there. - her house was spotless this morning. She was dressed in different cloths. She did not eat breakfast but she I fed her at noon. She has lots of food in the fridge.
The nurse stopped by twice to check on her. - So mom did great.
mom didn't want to leave her home today.
dh did the dishes this morning. I am making pizza dough for pizza tonight.
I have carrot salad left over.
I finished the lights and now it's time for put away.
time to order presents
my cat has found the empty bag on the dining table lol her head was through the handle and she just gently walked around with the bag following her. All better now.
