Freaky Friday?

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? It is 4:40 a.m. and I am sitting at the computer with my new keyboard, and I have been deleting emails for at least three hours, maybe four. I have also printed out several guides, among them: Take Back Your Time. (A 17 page guide for tracking your time and figuring out where you might be wasting it. I don't think there's any big question as to one thing I could do to improve my time management.)
OTOH -- I had emails that went back to 2009. I probably still do, but they are from close friends and family members -- not from "auto reply" or "customerservice@...." or "your order..."

And I guess there's no real virtue in having a cleaner email box, but I probably started with almost 3000 and I now have 1723 in my inbox -- some still in the "unread" category because dh kept EVERYTHING he deemed important in the "unread" box. He was afraid we'd lose it if it went to "old mail."
I arranged them by sender and it was a little easier to know what to delete and what to keep in the old box, but I still need to do some work on what's left in the "unread" part. Sigh.
I think I should go to bed. It has obviously been a freaky week for me. If someone has a better topic for today, feel free to move me over to a new thread.

Great subject LucyLee! I have so much to do and so many places to go today that it will feel like it's a Freaky Friday. Good job on clearing out so many emails.
I need to go to Costco. I might also need to go to Walmart. Both places are only going to get busier in the next 2 weeks. I really need to get the thrift store stuff out of my car so I can reload it with Costco and Walmart stuff. I have 2 oversized totes that I need to donate. Dh and I had a very hard time taking these down from where we store the Christmas stuff. The last time we decorated the tree was in 2021 and we had no problem then. We were younger and stronger then!

The problem now is that dh wants them both for storage for his stuff. He wants to give me 4 smaller totes and consolidate those 4 totes into the 2 big ones. I told him life isn't getting any easier for us and we need to have less stuff in massive totes because we can't lift the massive totes. We need to make life easier for both of us in the future. I had to explain that twice in one day, due to his memory issues.
There is also an item I would like to pick up for dh for a Christmas gift. I'm sure if Costco has it, their price will be more tempting.
Baby cat is trying hard to convince me that it's time to let her outside. Today's trick is pushing her head against my hands as I type. I think I need one of those box things to cover the keyboard so she can't do this... LOL!

Lucylee, I feel Freaky Friday too. A way too short week at home, still unpacking and putting away stuff and today dcleaning lady comes. And I'm out this a.m. for a 10 a.m. haircut and 11:30 much needed body work. We had 10-14K steps daily in NYC and my feet and back suffered.
The 2 p.m. Zoom for today was rescheduled to next week. This is the gal who had surgery yesterday, the same wrist surgery that I will likely have. Glad for a quiet afternoon again. I'm so glad to be home.
Inbox down to 57 emails. I try to keep it at 50 or below. Over 800 when we arrived home. Lucylee that doesn't account for those I've "archived" in Gmail. OTOH I'm using less than 1/2 of gmail storage for emails.

Y’all, I am STILL wide awake — it is 7:14 am. I don’t know what has gotten into me.
I did get together an order for Photos for the last 6 months with Shutterfly, while the still have free shipping.
This made me realize that no, my Xmas card photos of dgrands have NOT arrived yet. I think they are delayed in Macon, GA, but it says they were expected to be delivered by the 3rd… so this is not good. Of course, I have not signed or addressed a single card yet.
I have a headache. That isn’t why I’ve been awake all night, though. I don’t know what it is.

I am smiling at the email chat. My inbox currently has 18,177 unread emails. I have MANY rules set up to automatically move incoming emails out of the inbox and store them in other folders. They just sit there waiting for me to need the information. Searching for emails is simple and easy. Someday cleaning up my email inbox might become a focus for me. For now, I just scan incoming emails for those that must be handled immediately and ignore the rest. I handle the incoming snail mail the same way. #Don't Be Like Me.
How I actually spent this hour -
** Put country style ribs, onion and potatoes in the instant pot to cook
** Chat with DH when he woke up. Good vibes and laughter.
** Feet up in recliner
** SHE
** Personal care - teeth, face
** Puzzle - separate edges from center pieces
** OneNote Journal updated
** Garden - moved wooden strip panel board to in between beds
** Homeschool- planned next week cursive assignments. Is on DS16 calendar
** Scripture memory - Joshua 1:9 - I command you. Do not be afraid for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
What I say to myself -
** Appreciate the small things. Don't take them for granted. A good cup of coffee. A comfortable chair. A purpose in life. A plan for today.
Drinking & Eating -
** 1st cup of coffee with collagen

Finishing up my 3rd hour of the day -
** Experimented (aka played) with a 2 ingredient recipe to make biscuits. Self rising flour & heavy cream. I was surprised how well they turned out. Family loved them.
** Made, served, ate breakfast with DH at the table. Omelets, biscuits, multiple meats (hot link, sausage, bologna).
** Kitchen restored to status before I cooked.
** Chatted with DS16 as he was standing at the bar stuffing biscuits & butter into his mouth...telling us that he was going to be late for work as he kept eating. Reminded him to wear his seat belt as he dashed out of the house on the way to pick up a friend and go work on ranch.
** Chatted with DH making preliminary plans to pick up one of his friends to go with us to funeral for another lifelong friend.

I got a couple hours’ sleep before doctor’s office called to let me know what time dmom’s appointment is (11:45 — she will take of that herself, also wants to get her hair done today.)
ALSO found out dmom misunderstood the whole story —
Our doctor is just fine. His FATHER IN LAW fell and may have broken a hip!
How embarrassing. I sent a group text to the main people I told this story to on Wednesday night to nip it in thd bud, maybe. Sigh. I wish I could get a few more hours sleep.

You can't explain home phone's voice mail to someone with dementia.
In her case:
1. see missed call message on phone screen
2. press "talk" if the dial tone beeps there is a message. If the phone doesn't beep no message.
3. Hang up phone.
4. 30 seconds later, phone screen says voice mail waiting and gives the option to pick up VM
5. Press the VM button and it takes you through to the voice mail system
6. Follow the prompts from the voicemail system. Except the system gives every single option (14 of them.) So at that point she gets lost.
7. Press 1 to listen to the message. But then she gets 9 more options to hit. Press 7 deletes the message but if I tell her to do that and she hasn't understood the message, then the message is lost.
8. I don't know how to explain if there is multiple messages.
We are now 90 minutes into the process. There is no hope of her understanding it but she has me going over and over and over and interrupting me everytime I try to answer her questions.
At this points she is pondering what "pressing one plays the message the caller left" means. She can't go past that point because she can't understand it.

freaky Friday works well for me!!!
mom is still in the hospital. My brother is coming in. mom is doing better. I want her to live here bc it is easier for me than going back and forth and worrying about her drinking water, eating, meds etc. I like her being part of our household.
my family feels it would be too much for me health wise but this going back and forth is very unhealthy for me. it makes me sad.
time will tell.
her heart rate is finally regulating.
she is walking around the hospital - easy peasy - her dementia hits once in awhile.
how sweet that you have a kitten - we have coyotes here so we can't let cats out anymore. we have big hawks here too. Our one kitty, who lived to 22 got a big bite out of his skin - and lost all his claws in whatever tried to get him. He would break out of the screens to get outdoors. he loved being with the kids outside. He also loved our neighobors dog and he would sit by one of our back neighbors pools on a chair. (he loved laying in the sun).
Great cat!
yay d lady - I have 9637 in one email and 8000 + in another - I am thinking of starting another one just for family and friends.
nothing better than laughter with family first thing in the morning.
wonderful on what you have done this morning.
love this:
What I say to myself -
** Appreciate the small things. Don't take them for granted. A good cup of coffee. A comfortable chair. A purpose in life. A plan for today.
hello d Kathryn - so happy you are posting here again!
we no longer do messages etc. with mom. you can tell her and she can't remember.
hello d twins I hope you had a good time in NYC!
today is st. Nicholas day - but we are not celebrating until tomorrow.
I will do something at the hospital if mom is still there.
