Re: Satisfying Saturday 12-7-24
I had early company this morning as the newlyweds came by. The young man's sister is singing at a venue today - Christmas group choral event. They decided to start out for that early and come here on the way. Thoroughly enjoyed having them here. I told them to tell her what I'd said at beginning of the A, C and N thread this month - I'm so proud of her for sharing her creativity with others this at this time of year. So that would be my Satisfying thought - how can I/we/you share your creativity.
blessed, good to see you. I hope your dmother is feeling better.

(((Blessed)))) you are on my mind as you juggle taking care of your multiple generations.
I am having a productive and calm morning. I had a shortened sleep last night because DS16 woke me up around midnight asking to talk. We sat in the fun room while he talked through some decisions he is making about current girlfriend. I do applaud DS16 way of making decisions in that he seeks counsel from many mentors. Once he has heard the various answers and advice then he makes his decision. I'm not a huge fan of him seeking counsel from me during the middle of the night but acknowledge teenagers have a different perspective on time. All-in-all it was worth giving up a couple hours sleep to be there for DS16 during his mini crisis. Even though DS16 had a short night of sleep he got himself up and out the door to work before 8am this morning.
I have told DS13 to be ready to go at 11:30am today. We are going to a small town outdoor Christmas market. I am dreaming of finding some unique Christmas gifts today. While there we will eat lunch from our favorite BBQ food truck.

Re: Satisfying Saturday 12-7-24
Nancy, Thanks for getting us started so satisfyingly today.
I slept in and it felt so good. The last two mornings I've been up and going.
Dog has been walked. Had a good conversation with dneighbor, M's dh, about Broadway. He was a music professor in NYC and performed with the Met Opera as part of cast. M is out of town, visiting dsis in Nash-vegas.
We'll have dinner out with A and V this evening and the arts thing at temple tomorrow. Otherwise, quiet weekend, thankfully. I'm actually dreading the thing at temple, sounds like there will be a lot of people. I made a list for dh today.
Yesterday afternoon when I walked Millie she lost it and I couldn't hold on to her and fell, softly onto grass, and not on my wrist, thankfully. She was wound up because a beagle puppy had bark bark barked at her, then saw one of her nemesis neighborhood dogs. I went down and she got away. She did not attack the dog just got in its face barking and growling and it's owner of course trying to stay between them. Anyway embarrassment at my failure to control dog and a fall. I must start training regularly to try to reduce her reactivity.
Dh came through, and is going to Costco. I wouldn't dare to with him this or any December weekend. Macy's on Black Friday was pretty bad, I'm not sure which would be worse!
Things I'd like to do today, but probably won't: (At least I'm realistic!)
-change out pillow on front porch to winter and put away fall pillows (I put our large, new, electric menorah out yesterday.)
-Wash another load of laundry to dry flat (sweaters - I can only do two at a time.)
-drugstore to drop off script and I need to buy a new BP monitor.
-upstairs, perhaps finish the card left on my desk?
-signage for cards? I printed my Venmo QR code to be scanned too.

Re: Satisfying Saturday 12-7-24
I have finished up a section of knitting one skein of yarn is done, now for the stripes.
I have chosen the color I have like 40 mini skeins this well be a fun project to work on this week.
I have really enjoyed having breakfast pre made this week that was a winning idea for crafting season
or my personal retreats.
I need to put a sewing / knitting one on the docket for next year too.
Got my stuff out for the workshop and on the table just to find out I had the time wrong...
so waiting for the hour back to my knitting! LOL!

Oh bw2, so sorry about kitty, especially now when dmom is hospitalized. So much for you to deal with. Wish we were there to make casserole and help with Christmas. Thinking of you being pulled in so many directions.
Harriet, I posted over in Planner talk. I hope some of my thoughts help others, and hope for
bright ideas for the new year too. Thank you for mentioning sharing creativity. I have so enjoyed making cards for this event.
What satisfying thoughts, Nancy! writing, good dreams, sewing room/zone, and the fog lifting.

Harriet… still having problems signing in and get bumped and need to sign in when changing topics or trying to reply.
I spent part of my morning deleting emails. I don’t keep many so it was simple.
I don’t do planners, not for me, I just write events on my desk blotter calendar.
Twins… a good trainer or YT videos can help you walk your pup without her reacting. I taught my friend here how to help with his dog because it was reactive to other dogs. Willis was really bad until “I” was train on what to do. Didn’t take long and with just three lessons from my trainer Willis was sitting in a group of other dogs leash free.
LadyM …I had many late night conversations with my son and never retreated the times we spent together
Blessed…. Hope your day gets better.
Harriet … you look marvelous darling with your new do!
I’m still having stomach issues. Did morning routines, changed sheets and remade the bed. Old sheets in the washer.
I am done for the day… waving to y’all

Re: Satisfying Saturday 12-7-24
Thanks for opening the village today, Nancy. Nice to read that you have many things to be satisfied about.
((blessed)), thinking of you as you deal with so much at this already busy time of year. I hope your dmom is doing better today, & that the vet can help your dcat. It's always hard when our four legged family members don't feel well.
How nice that you got to see the newlyweds this morning, Harriet. Thanks for the new thread on Planners; I will check that out. (((Big hugs))) on your hair appointment yesterday.
It's wonderful that DS16 seeks out your advice on so many things, LadyM. Sorry you lost sleep, though. Have a great time at the Christmas Market with DD13.
((Twins)) -- so sorry you fell! Glad it wasn't on your wrist. Nice that you slept in & woke up feeling good.
Hope you feel much better soon, ((Rose)).
I had a satisfying morning doing laundry because I bought a new toy. It's one of those plastic shirt folders that you lay a shirt on, then flip left side over, right side over, & bottom piece up. It was fun! Best of all, even though you still have to lay the shirts out neatly, it was faster than folding shirts without it. Dh wears t-shirts all summer & in the winter under flannel shirts, so I will get a lot of use out of it.
Today I will be going through my Holiday Notebook to see what else needs to be done. I have all of dh & family gifts but need to check my Every Year list & start planning meals for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & New Years Eve. I always write down what I do each year (menus, gifts purchased, places we visit, what went well/didn't go well, etc) plus ideas for future years which has been helpful. Back in the early or mid 2000's I saw an article in a magazine about how F lylady set one up & thought it was a great idea. Have been doing it ever since. Last year for the first time I set up all the headings for this year so it will be a gift to myself to dive in & not have to do that first.
We dropped off our Toys for Tots donations. Almost forgot to do that as I was storing the gifts in a different place. Dh & I always have fun picking out several gifts for different ages. We go to W Mart before Thanksgiving when the shelves are stocked & it's not busy. A neighbor a few blocks away has kept a box outside his house for many years.
Dh is puttering both in & out of the house. Just popped his head in to ask about lunch around 1:00. Soup & crackers for me again because with this cold weather it just feels right.
~~~ Waving to everyone. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
