Are you closer to being ready?

New planners and calendars waiting to be filled in with all the birthdays and appointments?

Cards ready to go?

Baking and cooking special things? Do you have all the ingredients you need?

We can do this, because together we can conquer almost everything!!

LucyLee as far as I know, there isn't any meat in this "mincemeat". Mince pies, on the other hand, are meat pies made with ground meat. (I was doing a bit of research and went down a rabbit hole when I was looking for directions to bake the mincemeat tarts.)
"Ingredients: Sugars (sugar, liquid sugar, molasses) Apples, Sultanas, Raisins, Mixed candied citrus peel (orange peel, glucose-fructose, lemon peel, sugar, citric acid, sulfur dioxide) Palm oil, Water, Currants, Rice flour, Spices, Acetic acid, Sunflower oil, Citric acid. "Contains: SULFITES" "

We have 3 people "dropping by" by request. DH called all three last night and asked if they could "drop by" this morning. For one of them, he doesn't have the guy's full address, for the other 2 we have small gifts. One is getting some mincemeat tarts and the other one is getting a scarf that I knit that dd doesn't want because she already has one that is similar. On top of that, someone else has an issue with a windshield wiper not working.

Other than that, I have to unload the dishwasher. Do a couple of small pots from 2 nights ago that have been "soaking". The kitchen garbage also needs to be taken outside. Supper will be leftover spaghetti and meat sauce from last night.

Good morning folks!

I'm up. Had a decent sleep (not a given after HRT dose, sometimes I'm restless after it but in general it has led to much better/longer sleeps and many other benefits so is worth taking.) Had a nice cuddle with dh this morning too for about 40 minutes. Did my stretches before leaving bed and did some more on the balcony while the tea was steeping. It felt good to get fresh air. With my limited walking ability, I am not getting out for walks but yesterday chose to walk from one section of the mall to another outdoors in order to cool off and get fresh air.

Tea, chocolate, and light therapy are done.

My list is shifting into a third day. Note Monday's top priority item is still not done. I've added some new to-dos for today, and the list's top ones rival each other for top priority.

[ ] Finish the Christmas Eve Church Service Bulletin
[ ] Trim bangs (this is both a high priority as they make reading hard right now, also the first item I'm likely to get to.)
[ ] Book an adjustment appointment for my new orthotic. It took about 6 hours of wear before the same problem as before reared its head.
[ ] Book a doctor's appointment for my hips/knees. Time to get in the queue for x-rays, a referral to physio and/or onto a waiting list for surgery.
[ ] Write my stuff for the December 29. I found the shared file of that service yesterday.
[ ] Clean the bathrooms (started yesterday so now a low priority to finish but a thorn in my side so I'm likely to get it done today.)
[ ] Chair exercise class
[ ] DPC: Phone the clock repair guy about the clock in for repair
[ ] Christmas baking: Nuts and Bolts
[ ] Christmas baking: shortbread
[ ] Christmas baking: lemon squares
[ ] Kitchen weekly chores
[ ] Take dd her Christmas present. (and some lemon squares as a treat.) It is an appliance she needs NOW (actually many, many, months ago but she's stubborn and spent ages trying to fix her electric kettle, then trying to find another kettle for free or used, and, in the meantime, likely wearing out her frother which she's been using to boil water because she won't boil water in a microwave and is too distractable to do it on the stove in a pot.)
[ ] Write the words I'll be using on Advent 4 for the children’s time

I got nothing done last night so leaving my writing to the evening is not useful.

Arising from errands yesterday is "what to do with the ring from dd". I took a ring of hers (from an ex) to sell for gold but it turns out as a ring its appraisal value is over $1000. Yes, the boyfriend was rich. My jewelry guy says quick sale price is $300 - $400 and she can pay him for a written appraisal to support that price if she wants. She is a SHE and she is giving the money to charity anyway (and isn't motivated by money) so the work involved to maximize the value is overwhelming.

On the other hand, I happen to love this ring (which I saw for the first time yesterday) and could buy it from her. It looks adorable on my pinky and, as I have a sapphire with diamonds and a ruby with diamonds, this emerald with diamonds would be a delightful addition to my collection of rings. (Note, my rings aren't really valuable, the diamonds are tiny and the gemstones are small as well, but they are sparkly and I like them and wear rings a lot, hence my rings are at the jewelers for repair very often!) The downside with me buying it from her (aside from the surprise expense) is that she wouldn't be fully rid of the ring since it will be in my estate when I die! So I'm tasked with checking with ddil as to whether she or DC would like a ring from me after I die.

I'll go write that weird email right now, then s2s and cut my bangs.

Poof!

I have my rose-colored glasses on about Christmas prep. I still have 6 days. 8-)

I just returned from delivering DD13 to school. Only ONE MORE DAY of school and then Christmas break will start. Maybe I will turn my focus toward getting ready for Christmas once I can stop doing public school & homeschool focus.

You have plenty of time, LadyM! (Spoken as someone who thrived on tax deadlines, I'm afraid.)

Kathryn, I admire your list making and hard work right now! I feel like I'm spinning my wheels a lot and you're stringing together busy, productive days.

I'm glad you enjoy the baking and giving cookies, Cathy. Such a nice thing to do! At one point in my life I did a lot of Christmas baking - before becoming a Jew by choice - but baking sweet things - and Christmas things - no longer appeals. I have fond memories of filling the freezer with cookies.

I have a list going for today, with a block of time out of the house for the funeral.
--watch a genealogy webinar
--15 min clean up for upstairs
--write notes and address Christmas cards
--water inside plants
--get checks to temple with holiday bonuses from cemetery (take when I go to funeral)
--take ck to foundation to transfer cemetery funds to investments
--possible shopping in specialty shop for gift for dfriends who have us over on Christmas Eve (they have exquisite taste and don't hesitate to buy themselves beautiful things. She also bake, cooks, decorates beautifully. I trend toward consumables but am perpetually stumped. It really should be a "thank you" gift for entertaining us but she buys wonderful things for me for my birthday)
--stop at CVS to talk to pharmacist about my script that is perpetually backordered - should I ask doc for different meds?
--what else? Ddog is making me crazy and wants a walk and dd is texting also...

Grrr... dh insisted that today was garbage day AND I didn't checked the region's website before I took ALL the compost, garbage and recycling to the end of the driveway. When he told me I just wanted to get the stuff down the driveway as soon as possible. Dh said he saw it on the internet AND one of our next door neighbours had all their stuff at the end of their driveway. Oh well... I decided it was exercise! I did find out that it will be a day later for next week and the week after with "double" the bags on January 3rd!! Woo hoo!! I already have a pile of stuff started for double garbage day. (Stuff from pantry shelves that has expired.)

Dh went to deliver some Christmas cards to neighbours on our street. He also took a card to the woman who cuts his hair.

Good morning ladies it is nearly 7:15 here and still not lite out.
OMM /
I've been up 2 hrs did some planning & desk stuff.
Had coffee did qt. too.
Christmas lites are on.
We have a wind advisory if it's not too bad I'll go out and use my teloscoping pole with a brush taped on it
for the leaves on the gutter covers.
I pulled my sandwich out of the freezer to thaw.
If the winds are too strong my plan b. is to go in the basement and work on the 2nd half of the wool to ply up aka play with my yarn.
I want to get that done before I start on the new yarn that came pretty pink ombre.

Bed needs made up. X
I need to mix up my juice. x
Do the basement walk about. x

I have a respite this morning from going to moms
my brother is driving in and will stay with her this morning
the lady has given her the meds that I left for this morning- and will have breakfast this morning

I made jambalaya for my girls last night - I don't care for shrimp or hot spices but they liked it. It was one of the holiday dishes I had thought about making. Done!
mom and I had left overs - dh had shrimp from the jambalaya.

guess who said nope to dishes last night after dinner and is now wishing she had done it last night? 8-) So that is next on the list.
next:
Kitchen
meds
sweep
swish and swipe
returns

A slight blindside by nausea this morning, but better take it seriously as a harbinger of what might come. I did the first few things of the day including feeding Tobias, dressed. Then turned myself right around and got back into bed wearing my pants. :? Tobias came and laid down with me, which never happens. HRH came in, took a look at us, and said, "what is this?" lol He and I talked and decided I'd better concentrate on the nausea med if nothing else, so I have had a mini-breakfast with just the most important pills. He spiffed the kitchen and has called the car dealership to request they valet-transport the truck for its annual, rather than he and I trying anything like that.

So glad I managed getting every child's gift finished, right down to tags and tissue, and all together where I can direct others to pick them up and take to ds' house. We've pretty much decided no gifts for any adult this year.
