Are you hosting a Boxing Day party? I have fond memories of Kathryn's Boxing Day and never figured out how she managed it the day after Christmas.

Whatever you're doing today - probably regrouping from the holiday - make it a good one. Shop, PUPA the house, relax, it's all yours for the taking.

Morning…

My big night was Cmas eve. Dinner turned out great and everyone had a wonderful time. I took my gd aside soon after everyone arrived and asks if she would be my helper handing out presents. I also had both grands sit up on the barstools so they could reach the counter and had them put the mini marshmellows on the sweet potatoe casserole. Course as expected a few found their way into the grands mouths. My gd was really very good for me, but she usually is when she is in my home. My gs loves Einstein for some reason and knows he “sleeps” in my laundry room. Before he left my gs wanted to kiss Einstein good night which he did and the took one of the cloth napkins he found and covered Einstein with it like a blanket!

Yesterday I stayed in my pjs till noon. I clean up as I cook so after our dinner, I hand washed what needed to be done, put the rest in the dishwasher and turned it on.

Yesterday afternoon I took all the leftover food and brought most of it over to my sons. When I emptied my dishwasher, I counted all my silver before I took out the trash. Something my mom taught me when I was a child and helped after anytime we used her good silver. That is mine now.

Today is laundry day so I’ve already started it. Was going to strip my bed but remembered my new electric blanket will arrive tomorrow so will wait til then to do it. The rest of the house is in good shape so I am going to start taking down my decorations.

I'm regrouping from two straight nights out of the house with a lot of people.

Last night was 4 couples including us. And it may be the effect of Zepbound and may be all the food I've eaten, but my stomach is off. Heartburn and feeling too full. Last night was stroganoff over potatoes - apparently the traditional eastern European way of serving it. Dh of this couple is Russian historian and wife is vegan, so there was also a mushroom stroganoff. Bread, salad, peas and pearl onions (she says peas have a lot of protein.) A rich, rich, chocolate vegan cake for dessert, because it was the vegan friend's birthday. I also had a candle to blow out! We also lit the menorah for Hanukkah.

Here at home, we had the menorah on the front porch set to light at dusk with the first candle and the shamas, or helper candle. This morning I turned on the electric menorah that we used to use on the front porch - it's in our big back window but it's not very large. I think I'll leave it on for hte atmosphere.

I've been piddling here, part a.m. routine, part just hanging out. Dog walked.

The thing I most need to do today is to work on HOA. I have several bills to pay before year-end and need to prod a gal to get payment on the website set up.

I have no fog today winds helped I think.

I have put the wreath and outside sign & my stocking away.
I have a calendar up for the new year it has Dec. 24 in it so that was great.

Had bfast.
I'm half way dressed now.

hello good morning dear everyone

I left dishes from last night and found out our water was turned off - our neighborhood had a leak. it should teach me a lesson of putting things off when tired.

woke up at 9:30 am.
today I am taking down the tree bc I can get dd older to pull the tree out to the front - it's a good size.
I have to regroup and I am happy to do it!
I am proud that I got my cousins here connected to cousins in Hawaii so that they can talk directly. My mom's cousin's family took a picture of my sweet aunt (actually a cousin) 94 years young and looking beautiful to my mom and I sent a picture back of my mom!

it's weird to be without water!

We added a new tradition to our Christmas brunch - lighting a candle (as they do in church) and sang the first noel and wished that the light of the season filled our lives all through the year. At first everyone thought it was goofy but mom and I started singing and others joined in. They said it was special! if I had my way I would do the Danish and Swedish tradition of singing around the christmas tree - I dont' think that will happen - dh's family (his sweet dad's great grandfather was from Denmark) did not continue those traditions. Maybe because mom is from Alsace that those traditions still continue.

It's a holiday here, but some businesses are open and having sales, much like Black Friday. There was a picture of a huge shopping outlet early this morning and the line up to get off the highway and into the parking lot. When I was a child, my dad would take us to visit an uncle that lived on the east side of Toronto. I didn't like this uncle or his wife, but we didn't have any choice about going.

Dh went back to bed after having his coffee this morning, so I joined him and I slept for close to 2 hours.

Leftover everything for meals today. It's overcast here.

My kitchen counters are as clean as they've been since last Saturday. Something's always been in the process of being washed, sat out to dry, or other clutter. I had to go through my garbage. Yesterday I was getting rid of the bag for new, inexpensive Hanukkah earrings and the second earring fell into the garbage. I didn't want to go through it with dh hovering over me so waited until this a.m. and spread newspapers out on the kitchen counters.

I gave ddog sweet potato chews yesterday for Hanukkah and she's hording them. Won't chew, but wants to take them on the screened porch, and then outside. And she'll get territorial if they're out there and the dneighbor dogs wander over, so I don't allow anything like that outside. She's in a tizzy but hasn't chewed them up.

I can't figure out what's for supper tonight. I don't want to eat anything - I had coffee - and the thought of a meal doesn't do much for me. Thought about (home made) tomato soup and grilled cheese, but we could stand some protein. And tomorrow night is temple, with latkes services and people and latkes, and then Saturday we'll eat out with A and V for dh's birthday. And out on Monday night also with ds, for dh's actual birthday. No plans for New Years Eve, right now at least. I'll try to resist plans there. Tomorrow night I may go to services, see if I sneak out with some latkes to go (Dh is the Lakte King - he's the head cook.) There will be over a 100 people, I bet.

So I took care of earring. Next I need to finish a.m. routine, after all, it's noon. And then work on HOA stuff.
-find assignment of EIN from IRS for gal to set up our payment on website
-write check for yard people
-find bills, and write checks for city taxes.
-Tinker with Quickbooks, my nemesis, because next week I need to send bills for HOA dues.
