Fab Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.
Fab Friday for me because the dcleaning lady is coming! What makes your Friday Fab?

Is it being with family?

Having time and energy for projects?

Quiet time with nature?

I've straightened the bedroom and bath. The desk in there has been a mess for weeks with papers related to HOA and cemetery. I can't seem to corral them. Also a couple of mending jobs there.

Continuing on. I remembered I also need to strip the bed upstairs and wash those sheets, although I think dcleaning lady can make it up with fresh sheets. I'll need to throw the Hanukkah and Christmas wrap back into the closet first, lol.

I just connected up a Facebook post showing a found credit card with the mother in law of one of our dneighbors.

Onward.

Thank for the fantastic start to our day Twins' Mom!!

I moved everything to one side of the library so I could wash the very dusty floor. It's drying now. Dh has gone outside and I hear the tractor going so he can clear the driveway and the patio between the driveway and the door.

I need to do something with my hair. Even though I didn't have a nap yesterday, I didn't get everything done that I wanted to. I made an entire list of everything I still need to put away in the library. It has been a dumping ground for far too long and it's time to make it "just a library" once again. I do sit in there to cross stitch and I want to just think about stitching when I sit there, instead of seeing at least 10 piles of stuff. Now those piles are all piles of things that go together instead of a jumbled mess.

I emptied the dryer earlier. I still have to put it away.

I was to bed early (lights out at 10:15) and thus fully awake early (5:45). Adds up to 7.5 hours which is what I seem to need for sleep.

I'm really sore today, possibly some of the poking and prodding by physio or more likely the shopping afterwards.

Dinner (super simple and on the table 30 minutes after I got home) was easy. It will be faster next time because I had to look up dry pasta cooking instructions. The bag of pasta's instructions are for a pound of pasta and doesn't even give one a clue as to how many servings that was or how much pasta makes a serving. I know you all will be shaking your heads at me but I've only started liking pasta enough to cook it for myself in the past 8 months. I had it daily when on the Italian cruise line, but don't make it for myself. Dh asked that we add the meal to our rotation. I like that it was so quick and easy, perfect for when we arrive home hungry. But you all knew that already!

I wasted the evening because I was sore.

My physio instructions just added 3 stretches to the ones I already do each morning so that's easy, plus 15 minutes on the treadmill every second day followed by another round of stretching. On the alternate days I can walk outside to do errands or shopping, as tolerated and stretching after. Given how I feel right now, I doubt I'll tolerate shopping that well. The recommended time for the treadmill/errand is around 3 in order to generate some endorphins to get through the rest of the day.

I picked up most of the groceries I needed for between now and our trip. Maybe another cucumber or kind of fruit but tin fruit will do as well. I had found a brand of ready to heat diner-style meat courses that dh loved and asked be added to the rotation. One was pot roast, the other hot turkey sandwiches. I went to buy another and our store no longer carries the pot roast and the remaining options are 10% more than they were before Christmas. Sigh.... (Actually, I'm more raging about that, than sad.)

I can't believe the price of groceries these days. And by the time we get through eating everything in freezer, I suspect they'll be up another 10%. My price point for lean ground beef used to be $2.99. Now $3.99/lb is a big sale. Milk is up dramatically, I paid $6.09/4L yesterday. It used to be $4.69 in 2021, so that's up almost 30%. And we don't talk about the price of eggs, suffice to say up almost 100% if not more. For milk and eggs, dh consumes vast quantities so our grocery bill is up on those items alone, not counting meat and vegetable increases. I'm annoyed at the increases in soda prices and that for chips but don't care as much since those are not healthy items so cutting back there is a good thing. I am glad I have my soda stream since it gives me my 'bubbles' and the gas price for it hasn't risen nearly as much, just 6% compared to over 100% for soda in a bottle and 130% for cans.

I haven't had time to reflect on what I want to do in 2025 even though I always have a basic focus of things I want to do or experience/try.

I really need to think about this year and what I want to learn or continue to learn, what I want to experience and take the time to do it. :D

hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

bw2, I suspect you're too busy right now for reflection! I feel for you.

So sorry you're feeling sore, Kathryn. I hope you loosen up as the day goes on and the physio helps you. I have been getting groceries delivered a lot, and that runs the price up even more. After spending so much time this week on HOA biz I just didn't want to go.

Cathy, my room upstairs resembles this remark.
a dumping ground for far too long
I totally know what you mean. It gets to a tipping point tho and I just have to so something.

I just woke up tired this a.m. I'm going to postpone shower until after my workout. My head is exploding with "need to dos" "should dos" and I'm just tired.

Good morning
I can't believe the price of groceries
I'm right there with you in the surprise of how quickly they are increasing. I have spent time this week trying to find a source of spinach because it has quadrupled in price recently. My parameters are highest quality at lowest price available. I gave up and resigned myself to paying that new high price. I always find myself comparing the price of groceries to the price of eating out. When i make that comparison the cost of buying food ingredients seems very reasonable. For me, food quality and nutritional value is primary importance. Buying single ingredients lowers the price of meals. I enjoy cooking and assembling dishes using single ingredients so that time and effort brings joy to me where it might be a frustration or drudge to someone else.

We have a 4 day weekend! I love the change of pace the weekend brings. Bonus is when the weekend is a long one!

I'm not fond of cooking but I know we eat more healthy foods when I do. Last weekend I asked dh what kind of soup he wanted me to make, and what steps he would like to help with. He didn't end up helping make the soup but did do all the kitchen clean up. As I get to the final steps in cooking a meal he usually asks what he can help with.

Dcleaning lady just left and I realized I need to get ready to workout - it's at one today because I had to reschedule from yesterday. I actually was on the phone until 1:20 so could have gotten there, but was going to see it out until it was done.

So I'm having lunch - probably heavier that I should but OTOH I think they are still having me get used to machines and new trainer.

I ended up having to bring out all the trays of "jewelry" this morning and dh was sitting at the kitchen table having his breakfast. He saw the tray (actually more like the shape of a lid of a box, but more sturdy) with all the pearl stuff and asked if any of it was real. I said that only the salt water pearls (weird shaped) "might" be real. I found more stuff last night in an unlikely place, so some stuff got added to the current stuff and some more stuff got donated. After all, it's all just stuff, isn't it?

I need to get dressed and get to knitting. Most of the women in this large group actually knit things like socks. There are usually between 6 and 15 people there, not including the store owner and her daughter, who works there.

We are having leftover spaghetti and meatballs for supper.

The temperature has gone up to plus 5 Celcius and it's very sunny here. Too bad it's going to go way down next week. The kind of temperature that would make a person think he ll has frozen over. I think some people might think that early next week. Actually I'm sort of dreading next week on so many levels. Tariffs on both sides of the border and increased security on both sides. Prices for so many things are already too high.
