Today I need to stay home! It's a "snow day" and all school buses are cancelled for the entire Niagara region. There was freezing rain over night, and the back roads are icy. So, stay home and stay safe. I put the compost container out at the end of the driveway. I can put the recycling out next week. The bag isn't full yet, so it can wait. There are no limits on recycling like there are for garbage.
The baby cat has been out, but she came back in quickly. Dh just got up, so it's time for coffee and hot tea.

Good morning!
Twins - thank you for the start today.
36-53F today puts it in okay temperature range according to my body. I'm enjoying it when compared to next Wednesday when it stays below freezing with snow predictions.
Teen raising ongoing saga
** DS16 had GF and 2 friends here yesterday to work on the Duramax together. They got the new seal on the injector and the thumping sound isn't happening now....but now there is a shushing sound in the diesel engine that shouldn't be happening. I am trying to remain objective about the whole process. They are learning and having fun together. They are staying out of trouble. IMHO, that is a huge success. If the 20 year old duramax survives their fumbling efforts, then that would be a bonus. OH....also DS16 replaced both of the headlights in his 12 year old pickup yesterday. This is the 3rd time the headlights have gone out since this group of teens installed a humongous sound system in that pickup a few weeks ago. Anyone want to bet the sound system is overloading the electrical system and causing the headlights to go out? The teens say that isn't the problem. They say it is just a coincidence the headlights started going out after the sound system installation. hum....
** DD13 is now washing her hair successfully and taking showers. I am hopeful we are past that yucky phase.
Happening in the kitchen today -
** Taquitos
** Chicken parmesan
** Pizza bagel bites
Today is Micro (5lb yorkie) appointment with groomer. 45 minute drive x two means a couple hours of my day is devoted to making that happen.

Grocery order made and submitted for curb pickup tomorrow in an effort to combine errands when I make a trip to the city. Tomorrow periodontal appt will be followed by Sams and WMart. The two stores share a parking lot so it is easy to pick up one order then move the vehicle to the next aisle and pick up the other order. Frozen foods are in my orders, so they will be my last stop before heading home.

Lost my post when I rebooted my computer because it was frustrating me.
Lucylee - meant to tell you yesterday that the show ds and ddil are seeing is SIX. We saw it in NYC in Dec 2023 and I really enjoyed it. It is something of a "chick" show but I bet your ds will appreciate it too. The band is onstage too - and the cast is all women. We'll see it again here later this month.
I'm torn between keeping the momentum going on the HOA stuff and doing genealogy or stamping. I need some creative time.
Dh got in safely as I reported, and we had dinner out. I hardly caught my breath from the time I got in from workout and coming back in after dinner with dfriends last night. He leaves again tomorrow afternoon for the state bowling tournament. My quiet days are limited, this round of travel for him comes to an end on Sunday. I feel like I need to use this time wisely.
Dog is walked.

Good morning!
My fears about driving today were unfounded. We are in an area where the ice didn't hit so badly; DH said it was slushy, but that was all. However, DH's school is in an area that got the ice, so they were closed today -- thus DH did the driving! I won't have to go out till this evening to pick DC up from play rehearsal; DH will be out at his monthly guys' night by then. Oooh, that reminds me, I need to work on my book club book some more.
But for now, it will be laundry, followed by lunch, followed by chair exercises (if I can get up the nerve to do them in front of the family; usually when I do them, DH and DD are at work, and DC is either at school or up in their room). It may not be lunchtime yet by the time I'm done with laundry, but then it might -- I'm doing DH's shirts, which require babysitting. I'll fold the drip-dry stuff from the basement clotheslines while the shirts wash, and then they'll keep me busy hanging them to dry.
I have a nutritionist appointment this afternoon. I've made a little progress since the last time (the aforementioned exercises to help with blood sugar, and I'm becoming more aware of my tendency to go after sweets and avoiding them or limiting portions). I had intended to keep track of when cravings hit, but I did that for about three days.
I also haven't made much progress in adding fruits/vegetables to my breakfast. I suppose I could become a Brit and have stewed tomatoes and baked beans -- or not. Yuck! Well, goals for next time.
Have a great day, everybody!

good morning - d brother and dd older had a contractor here to look at our 3 season room that needs to come down - the internal rot has finally done the old room in. we have drain tile that we put in but from years and years before us the flooding was horrible. The owner before us was her during a drought so they didn't disclose water issues bc they didn't - the person before them should have addressed the water issue.
now we wait to see how much it will cost to replace it or tear it down.
d brother is doing this bc he knows it would be very hard to convince dh to move to a ranch house. so keeping fingers crossed. The housing market is very expensive now.
the great: we were all up before the architect and contractor came and mom was great.
brother helped me put the lighting together on my light system. it's done!
Very happy about that.
thank you for starting us!
