No, I'm not going to the last word of the common "keep it simple" phrase because we are all smart cookies! But a reminder to keep it simple is always in order as things, people, tasks, clutter up our daily tasks.
What are your focuses today? Keep it simple!

This is what I need today. Off from work. I have to check in with dad and with E make sure I don't have to go there this morning. I really would like a day off.
Simple? Make sure they don't need me. Basic cleaning tasks. Maybe primer. A few groceries. Rest. Done deal. Unless things change.
Ugh. So maybe you all would have creative ideas since so many of you seem to have personal involvement with someone.. mom or dh or other.. with dementia of some kind.
How to interpret pain and what is needing attention or not. When sometimes yes and no get interchanged. It's so confusing and she tends to get worried but can't express it. What hurts just gets confusing. We have an impossible medical situation here where we very rarely have urgent care. No use going there. If it's even open.
Anyway other than that I'm hoping things are stabilizing.
Simple is good today.

Morning…
I sound like Froggy and don’t feel much better.
New rug arrived. Moved dinning room table and chairs with Sweeties help.put the rug down and it fits just right plus I really like the pattern. Put everything back together and am now resting x
Need to water my sunnies. Didn’t yesterday. Suppose to rain this afternoon but I don’t want to chance it.
After that it’s either back on the couch or bed. Will see after I finish.
Waving the Queens wave to y’all

Good Morning!
maybe you all would have creative ideas since so many of you seem to have personal involvement with someone.. mom or dh or other.. with dementia of some kind.
(((Lauralind))) It isn't easy taking care of our loved ones that are struggling. My mom had advanced Parkinson which affected her mentally for many years before her death. Ten months ago my DH started experiencing episodes where he totally loses his short term memory for several hours/days at a time. It requires consistent compassion caring to help those we love. It can become overwhelming and exhausting at times. Please feel free to share here and know this is a safe place to talk through the struggles and share the special moments.
I love simple days.
I love Saturdays.
Combine those two and this day has the earmarks of being awesome.

My focuses today:
-getting ready for trip
----packing
----planning
-show this afternoon: Hadestown matinee at two with dh and dfriend A and V
-having house ready for my departure
-anything else?
Slept poorly last night - I think the afternoon nap was probably to blame.
I need to get moving. Dog is walked. Dishwasher going, we forgot to start it last night. Load of laundry is ready to be hung up to dry.
Lauralind, many of us have been there between aging parents or siblings. My mother had pretty advanced dementia before she died. She often told nurses and medical personal that her pain level was at 9 or 10 but there were not outward signs of her expressing pain. It was difficult because there was no way to know. Once she was on hospice medical personnel were less worried about prescribing pain relief. She was able to stay in "assisted living" until the end - assisted living now is often what a nursing home used to be.

Lauralind …. My husband has Alzheimer’s… had for 6 years and is still very independent.
I am very lucky as we have been able to have open conversations of what’s to come. One of the first things we talked about was whether he trust me to make difficult decisions as they come, and I know his wishes.
He will enter assistant living or memory care when he becomes too difficult to handle even if at that time he doesn’t want to go. I find great pease in that knowing what he wants for himself now.
He does not want to die at home feeling it will taint the memories we have made together here. He doesn’t want full time help here at home because he feels it would be a burden to me.
I will care for him the best I can, but when showering, bathroom issues and wandering starts he wants me to move him to a facility that can take care of him.
Knowing his wishes now will let me feel less guilty when the time comes because he is making sure to take care of me while he can … I am a lucky girl

Definitely complicated to understand. She is definitely getting less and less mobile. From not doing anything. Sometimes she easily moves on her own and next time you have to help her up. It should get a little easier now dad is getting better. But he worries if something happens and then she worries more. Without the words but all the physical signs of anxiety. I know that is what it is cause I struggle with anxiety myself. But her brain erosion is at fault and not able to control it. She's on low dose anxiety meds and that is helpful.
You are very fortunate rose. Mom's came on really quickly and now we're going on dad's wishes to care for her himself for as long as he can and he says she doesn't want to go to care... well I don't know what she would actually want herself. She didn't express that to her girls.
I guess I should phone first and see if he needs anything...

Keep it simple, sweetie!
We are still waiting for this major weather event of freezing rain. While it did rain yesterday, it wasn't freezing rain. There was a misty rain earlier today, but still not a huge issue.
So far today I have done the only load of laundry and it's currently in the dryer. We don't separate lights/darks as we have very few whites. Even all my undies are black except one pair. Same with socks. One pair of white ones. I have one white skirt which I haven't worn in a long time and one pair of white shorts. I don't wear them that often.
Dishes are pre-soaking in the sink. I have also thoroughly swept the bedroom and the hall and mopped both. Living room needs to be mopped at some point today.
I was up numerous times in the night, so I know a nap is coming later.
