Marilyn Monroe (born June 1, 1926, Los Angeles, California, U.S.—found dead August 5, 1962, Los Angeles) was an American actress who became a major sex symbol, starring in a number of commercially successful films during the 1950s. These included Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and Some Like It Hot (1959). Behind the scenes, however, Monroe struggled to find happiness, and in 1962 she died from a drug overdose. She later became a pop culture icon.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off, and for another weekly topic! I always think MM had such a sad life, despite her success.

Gma, I hope you're able to see.the vet today with DDog. I don't know very much about dogs, (Dogged is our resident dog expert! :D ) but the symptoms you describe do sound concerning, and enough to warrant an "urgent same day appointment". I wonder if they're connected with her dental issues, and something has suddenly deteriorated in her mouth? Broken / infected / abcessed teeth can make us feel very unwell, so I'm guessing it's the same in dogs, and could definitely explain why she's such a fussy eater generally. How does her breath smell? If it's unpleasant, then that's another indication. I think you said she was 12? That is definitely a "senior" but small dogs (iirc she's a Pekinese?) often live for a very long time, well into their teens.

Helian, I hope you were able to sleep well, and feel more refreshed and less overwhelmed today.

So, Monday once more! It's cloudy today, so no sunrise for me. I didn't sleep well last night -, there's a lot OMM ATM ( most of which, in the cold light of day is actually relatively insignificant, or has a reasonably straightforward solution), Matilda decided she was very "needy" overnight, and then DH was crashing about at 0 dark thirty. Never mind, these things happen, one short night won't hurt, and I'll go to bed early tonight. I also need to break some tasks into small steps, so I feel I'm making progress.

Today is also the one day this week when I should be uninterrupted, so I need to make the most of it and be as productive as possible, and avoid too many distractions! :D

Order Fred's meds and new food (see MF's email for this!), and Matilda's Laxapet from vet - by TUESDAY
Digital decluttering- Google Photos for 2024 and 2025
Write upcoming appointments on kitchen calendar and in my filofax
Easter card for DF E
Chocolate Easter bunny for DF E
Email Hobbies re my dolls house
Pick up my footprints! (Thank you, RRose!) 😀
Make list of outstanding jobs on the house and send to Handyman A. DF PM, who has been mentoring him through some difficult turns his life has taken, thinks he may be ready to start some jobs again. (If he doesn't reply in a reasonable time, or doesn't want to do anything, then I'll look for someone else, but I would prefer not to do that). Off the top of my head, clean gutters and the swan neck on the downpipes where "stuff" tends to accumulate, clean cladding back and front and downpipes, and short return wall as well. Replace the bit of mortar that's fallen out of the edge of the roof (I think its called the verge?) , fix dripping kitchen tap ( new washer?), sort out cabinet that wobbles, fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. More as I think of them? 😀 ( Texted 10/3 and still waiting for a reply over a month later  ) Update: text him again first thing Monday, and if no reply by the end of the month, then definitely look for someone else (DF PM is also starting to become exasperated with his reluctance)
Steps to take to find a replacement: ask friends, look on local sources eg Nextdoor for recommendations
I may have to split the jobs between different people this year if I can't find someone who's good at a variety of skills
For gutter cleaning, Dneighbours R and A used Ben's gutters -are they pleased with the work? Does BG also clean cladding? Do they have a website?
Kitchen tap - DF E has given me the phone number if her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?
Garage gutter - probably a handyman needed here - Text /message a few likely candidates and see what happens. Does Dneighbour R2 do handyman type jobs? I know he's done work for Dneighbour R in the past, but that was larger jobs, like laying a path!
I need to find a new podiatrist - I don't know anyone who regularly uses one, so I need to do my homework:
Look online - are they taking on new clients? ( Many people aren't ATM as there is a shortage  no) Are they registered with the HCPC? Check their registration numbers to ensure they match! ( This should ensure I see someone who is properly qualified and adheres to straight levels of hygiene) Do I like the "feel" of the place from the website? Is it easy to get to? (Somewhere miles out with no parking nearby is not going to be suitable). Find a date and time that's suitable and book an appointment!
Take up and hem those thick winter curtains for the kitchen
Book eye test for me
Find picture hanging equipment for DH
Sort prints and put in albums (this will probably be an activity to do on wet days!) WIP I am now working on 2024
Think about setting up Guardianship for F,J and M - looked on Cats' Protection, I need their microchip numbers, approximate DOB, colour and markings and useful information about them. Bookmark link with local recommended solicitors (also ask DF CW?)
Change health centres to the one nearest us? On hold ATM , but I'll leave it on my list so I don't forget.

I hope you actually get your uninterrupted day, Kitty. Perhaps you'll get outside for a walk or to work in your garden.
Good luck with all your errands, L Ann.
Sounds like you had a busy Sunday like I did, Gma. I hope the student responds today.
Thanks for another interesting start, trissie!

Thinking of decaf this morning. Has she appeared at our new site?

Yesterday was SOOO scheduled and busy. I didn't make a fraction of the progress I'd wanted to; exam prep grew into a big ugly monster, and I spent an inordinate amount of time on it. But the first drafts are all done. One has been revised, and one has been OK-ed. I did run a 5K race moderately well, attended CG2, had dinner at our place with the Cs, M, and the girls, and zoomed with ds+F in the evening.

Today, I hope to finish everything that's been on my lists for the past few days. Plus, I have A LOT OF payroll to do today: prep and teach, instructor meeting 1-1:40, make sub plans, review my final exam, create image and email out exit test results. Good morning, L.Ann and Helian!

L.Ann, I hope your errands go smoothly. I think you're right re the handyman issue. J was wonderful, and could turn his hand to anything, but unfortunately has retired. :( A was great last year and the year before, and very enthusiastic, but now he seems to have decided he doesn't want to do anything any more. ( It's not just me, he's ignoring all his other customers as well. I know he's had a difficult time, as his GF threw him out last September, and I've tried to be understanding, as have all his other customers, but it's over 6 months now...) I feel I need to give him a chance before I move on, hence the gentle reminder today, but these jobs can't wait for ever - some of them have been waiting since last summer. So that's why I'm starting to look at more specialist companies for the important things. Most of these have a form to fill in online, so I've bookmarked their websites. I'm leaving contacting anyone else until after Easter, to give A a chance to reply. ATM, I think I'd be happy for anyone competent to just turn up!

Helian, you do sound very busy, and with a very scheduled day, but, hopefully things will be easier for you once your DMum has been safely moved to the new NH.

I got sidetracked, but in a good way, sorting G out the storage baskets on top of my wardrobe. I've found some more donations, and have walked the bag over to the charity bank as part of my walk. Next is some garden time. It's chilly today, but ok if you keep moving. :D
