Easter Eve, also known as Holy Saturday, is the final day of Holy Week, between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and when Christians prepare for the Christian feast of Easter.

Christians of the Catholic, Lutheran, and Anglican denominations begin the celebration of the Easter Vigil service on Holy Saturday, which provides a transition to the season of Eastertide; and they, among others, may also have the celebration of the sunrise service starts before dawn on Easter Sunday.

For a bit of local detail,, our cathedral holds a sunsrise service, followed by a breakfast, and then, later in the morning its usual Eucharist service. Our church will be having its usual Eucharist at 9.30 am. But looking at the forecast, I think anyone will be very lucky to see the sun rise!

Good morning, everyone, and happy Saturday!

That's very good news about the appointment, L Ann. I'm sure the tulips look beautiful!

Hoping Trissie and her family are all ok - I can't remember if she mentioned going to the cottage for Easter?

So, it's raining again. But I got a lot of jobs done indoors yesterday, so I'm hoping for a successful day again today. I need to start preparing our Easter lunch - we're having lamb, and I need to make apple pie for dessert. DH will be out this afternoon, so I'll probably make the pie then - I like to be uninterrupted when I make pastry! I also need to put DF E's Easter card and chocolate bunny together in a bag so it's all ready to take tomorrow. A d bag up the items I decluttered yesterday -just a few so far, but it would be good to have them all in one place.

Have a good day, everyone!

We're here, kittykatt, just yesterday was a combination of taking it easy, going shopping for paint, moving everything out of DBD's room and getting started on the painting :-)
The sloped ceiling and the short wall under it have been painted green (DH really "loves" painting over sloped drywall, because it tends to peel in places), and today we plan on painting the rest of the room white and install the carpet. Tomorrow we will move furniture back and if I will have time, I may go over DBD's stuff and maybe cull something out? I was suprised at how much stuff actually fits in her tiny bedroom! My storage-creating skill are apparently superb :-)

TaDas
- slow morning (catching up on sleep)
- up and attem
- showered to shoes
- breakfast and coffee
- internet time

ToDos
- morning routine
- paint rest of DBD's room
- start lunch

Good morning, Trissie! DBD's bedroom is going to be beautiful! WTG on your storage creating skills!

I've had a slow start today, and I'm in my second cup of tea! DH will be out from about midday until 7 pm, so I need to plan my day wisely. I think the rain is easing, but it's still going to be too wet to do much outside.

Kittykatt, thanks for the start, I see we are weather twins :) Many people usually take some paid leaves around Easter, this year they won't be able to enjoy it much. Slow start here too.

trissie glad you could take it easy. WTG starting the painting project. Is DBD sleeping in her bedroom while the painting is going on ? I guess no since you said you removed things from the room. We have walls to paint in both DSs's bedrooms, but not sure how to organize the removing and then the re-moving in of all their things, so I'm interested in your organization.

Three-day weekend, as Easter Monday is a day off in France. The week at payroll was busy. A meeting was organized on Tuesday with my boss, me, and boss's two bosses - she has one boss at our local branch and one at the global company headquarters, 2.5 hours away. This meeting taught me two things : boss can lie without blinking (and I suspect she's saying things about me behind my back to damage my reputation), and : boss's bosses are aware she's a difficult person to deal wtih - probably they suspect she can lie. An agreement was negociated for regular weekly meetings so that she stops annoying me with multiple demands during the day. Not sure how I can "enforce" it with her (she still sends many emails and calls me on the "inner" phone system several times a day), but at least it is some relief that my needs were taken into account.
I still had to deal with her mocking tone and sarcasm twice this week after the meeting, but I will try to find ways to make it stop...
Kids will be back at school on Tuesday, to MrNG's relief. He will be able to search for a job, again. It's been hard on him being stuck home with both kids for two weeks.

TADAs
late start
one hour breakfast with all of us at the table - I love quiet weekend breakfasts
emptied dw

TODO during 3-day weekend :
finish family photobook 2024 (only December left)
Easter : chocolate egg hunt in the garden
letter to DFriend J to continue
relax, enjoy the quiet, try and get fresh air with the kids, even if it rains

Good morning, FFB! ( It's still just morning here  ) I'm glad you're able to have a slower start this morning - a leisurely family breakfast sounds delightful!

I'm glad some boundaries are been set for your benefit at work. As you say, enforcing them may be tricky - hopefully someone here who works at payroll will have some ideas. BTW, I thought your idea of making notes at payroll in German was inspired! :D

I've run the hoover round downstairs and tidied up. Freddie insisted on a walk, and the rain has stopped for now -not sure for how long- but at least neither of us got wet :D So, if it stays dry, I might venture back outside to do a little tidying no of the bulbs that are dying down, and some deadheading of any flowers that haven't survived.

DH has just left, and won't be back until around 7 pm, so I need to make the most of the uninterrupted time.
