Try something different Tuesday PWYC

Post by CathyS »

Yesterday I was fairly successful at getting a few OMM tasks completed that I hadn't done in a while. I watched a bunch of cleaning videos and some of them were hoarder houses. Those got me moving! What things do you do every once in a while that might be different?

Thanks to the youngest cat, I was serenaded out of sleep before 6 this morning. Now I'm having my morning cup of hot tea. Dh left the "last piece" of spice cake for me. I might need to eat it with my tea. I'm sure it's better than my usual boring cookies that have bran or oat floor in them that I try to tell myself they are good for me because they are not really sweet and they don't have chocolate on them or a layer of super sweet white sugary stuff in between two of them. I think these would be the cookies that are left on cookie trays at social gatherings. They look like discs of sawdust.

I think we are having a cottage roll for supper. I took it out of the freezer yesterday morning and it should be defrosted by 2 o'clock this afternoon. I will throw some carrots and potatoes into the boiling water so it will be a one pot meal.

Try something different = posting in PWYC before I post on H&F and Kitchen forums. :D
OBE means what?
Overcome By Events.
In a military context, "OBE" stands for "Overcome by Events," meaning a plan or strategy is no longer relevant because events have changed the situation. It's a way of acknowledging that the original plan is no longer viable and a new approach is needed. I worked on a military base for 3+ decades, and it was common to hear.

DS16 is going on a public-school field trip with GF today. He will be going in a sponsor role with GF mother.

DD13 is choosing to not attend public school district baseball game today even though it would get her out of school for the afternoon. She dislikes sports so much that she chooses school over attending a game.

Dh took out garbage last night, nice because it's raining this a.m. And it's a decent rain, nice and slow and will be raining lightly until midday, when there's probably a break for the afternoon. Laundry is going already. Houseguests brought sheets and towels down, honestly, I'd rather not have them in my tiny laundry room until Wednesday. I'll wash sheets then and dcleaning lady can get them back on the bed on Thursday.

I have body work at 11:30 today and nothing else on the schedule for the day, dh is out this evening.

I walked ddog in a light rain and have spent time on the phone with the water company for the HOA again. (In the "it's always something" category.)

I need to have my breakfast brunch and reboot the laundry.

Good morning! I am here procrastinating on payroll. I am between bursts on the editing project, which means I have time to work on the design guide project. This is daunting because I, of all people, am providing the organization on this one. I've made an outline, and now they want me to fill it in! I am due to change my work password, so I'm hoping that will ease me into work mode.

I had respberries, a buttered cheese bagel, and a glass of Metamucil for breakfast, and they've only just stopped fighting it out.

DC has had her play this weekend; I am looking forward to picking her up after class at 3:00 today rather than at 9:30 after rehearsal. The play was fun -- the first two acts were comedy, and the third was pure farce!

Laughing at your "cookies that would be left on cookie trays at social gatherings," Cathy! I hope the spice cake was much better!

LadyM, OBE should become a regular thing here. What a perfect description of life getting in the way!

Nancy, a friend was posting on FB about a dress they had bought for their daughter online (not Az). They had a tracking number for the package for what good it did them. It went to Puerto Rico and California before it finally arrived at their home in Maryland, fortunately in time for her to wear it for Easter. Hopefully, your item will arrive soon.

Waving back at blessed!

Glad Twins can have a nice, peaceful, not-running-around day (with the exception of the HOA stuff).

Smiling at Harriet's "catching up to where we were 2,000 years ago" from last night. (I may have the wording wrong -- can't see it in front of me -- but the sentiment prevails!)

I have procrastinated long enough. Time to bite the bullet. Have a great day, everybody!

Dh and I spent some time out in the garden. More specifically, the corner of the yard that has a trumpet vine. We decided to start cutting away the dried vines from last year. We worked at it for quite a while. It had been choking the 4 cedars in that area of the yard for most of last summer. We got half the job done and cleaned up. The battery for dh's sawsall died, so it has to recharge. We were both sore and I was cold (no jacket) and the wind was picking up. I told dh we could get back to it later today or tomorrow. The medium sized trailer is full of dried vines.

It was something that needed to get done, so I'm glad we got a start. Each day in the next week is warmer than today.

I think OBE is a thing here almost every time dh walks in and starts talking...

So after I verified that the cabana/pool water was on, she (pool chairperson) says that the faucet they use to fill the pool is on irrigation system and isn't on. And wasn't supposed to be on until 5 May. So I called water company back and they can "work us in" tomorrow to get it on. Nothing like getting a heads up on what's going on. Rolling my eyes.

Body work was great as usual.

Next up I'm spending 45 min on desk day for cemetery and HOA (two separate organizations.) Alarm goes off at the BOTH.

WTG on the yard work, Cathy. It's still raining here and forecast has a pretty high percentage of rain continuing today. It's cooler too, I think I need a sweatshirt on my arms even inside.

Breaking. Caught up on cemetery paperwork and reconciling through March. We may be clear of the rain for now but have a chance of rain all this week. The dog is walked was walked one lap.

Next up is more Desk day for HOA/personal. My "inbox" on the kitchen counter is mixed. Need to do some sorting next. First up tho, RSVP to a shower invitation (too bad, I'll miss it, lol) that was on top. After some sorting it's pay HOA bills and start on what I think of as "year-end." Record accounts payable and do some reclassifications so I can do a financial statement. Why do I get so far behind on this stuff?
