Fiesta is a modern cultivar of domesticated apple which is often marketed as Red Pippin. It was developed in the United Kingdom by breeders at the East Malling Research Station, combining the Cox's Orange Pippin with the Idared apple. According to the Orange Pippin website, it is one of the best Cox's style apples, but much easier to grow having good disease resistance.
Fiesta is a sweet apple, nutty and aromatic, which can be used as a dessert apple, for juice and for (hard) cider. Its skin is yellow, flushed and striped in colours ranging from orange to red, and has some apple russeting. Its harvesting season is late, and it keeps fresh for three months or more.

Good morning, everyone, and happy Friday!
Hoping Trissie and her family are having a wonderful time.
Helian,.I keep meaning to say that IMHO boring and uneventful dentist appointments are definitely the best! I'm glad things are moving forward for your DMum medically, and that this new NH is giving her a better quality of life.
L.Ann, I hope your neck and shoulders feel better today, especially with all the driving to Hopkins.
Laura, I hope poor Stella is feeling better -Im glad she's taking the metacam easily. It really does sound as though she's going to have to stay on the diet food indefinitely - if it's anything like Fred's, it's expensive, but it's cheaper than vet visits!
Today I have a free Friday.

DH is off, but I've out him in charge of sorting out the flashing light that appeared on the car dashboard yesterday.

As it's a green flashing light (as opposed to red!), I'm not that bothered, but it's still irritating. I think it's to do with the auto stop / start, which I never use anyway. The handbook doesn't mention it, and online forums seem to indicate it's common, and could either be a problem with the battery (we had a new one 18 months ago) but if the battery is ok, then just ignore it?! Anyway, we'll see what DH can find out. The car is driving fine, so I'm not too worried.
.y plans for today: feed my pots in the garden, pack up the item I need to return, (I'll probably wait until next Thursday to actually return it as that's the day for our post office, but that's ok), go for a walk (weather permitting - it's cloudy today, but dry so far.) This will have to be done either early this morning, or later in the evening, as we're forecast to be hot again! Some housework would be good, and I really need to process those cooking apples.

A brief hi, in the middle of my night. Just got an email from the vet, RE my dog. We've had a rough few days. She has acute pancreatitis, with test results nearly 5x normal. I saw email at 1 am. It has recommendations for one of her meds to be doubled, so I gave her a dose, plus some fluids. I'm going to sleep, then take her to the hospital (90 minutes away) in the morning. Not wise for me to plan 3 hours of driving middle of the night. I'd get sleepy and be in danger. She needs supportive care, IV fluids, pain management, and more. I was worried about leaving her at the hospital, but now think it will help her get better.
PS, I was locked out for a couple days. My computer refused to open the site.
The honey crisp apple was developed at the agriculture college of my state's University. 90 miles from my home. I am loving hearing about apples from other places!

Good morning/ good afternoon, Gma, Feathers , Smilelee and L.Ann!
(((Gma))) it's so hard when are much loved pets are in pain and unwell. Having had several of my cats hospitalised, I truly think you're making the right decision. I know that as a very experienced, highly trained nurse, you're able to do much of the treatment, but the veterinary hospital will be able to give her the round the clock care she needs ATM, and allow you to get some sleep and much needed rest. How very interesting to hear about the honey crisp apple!
Ginger lemonade sounds refreshing, Feathers!
I hope your time at the gym is productive, Smilelee.
Safe travels, L.Ann. I hope the appointment is successful
My main achievement this morning has been to do the invitations for our neighbourhood summer party. (Several of the guests are of that generation who appreciate an actual written invitation, plus one couple are new to the neighbourhood and I think it's nicer for them that way). DF CW has approved the design, so we now need to get together and decide on the guest list. (BTW it took me several false attempts before I found a *free* invitation making app that a) worked, b) I could understand how to edit and save c) didn't have annoying ads playing music as soon as you opened it, and d) wouldn't let you get so far and then demanded payment details.

) These are simple with clear print, but with a pretty flower design that makes them that bit special. And I've saved everything so I can use the app again if necessary!

When we have the list of who to invite, I'll print them off, and we'll just put them through people's doors .
I've tidied up downstairs and run the hoover round. I've also polished the car again with a microfibre cloth as we had dirty rain last night.

, and had a chat with Dnextdoorneighbour C while I was doing a little in my front garden. DH has now left to meet up with some friends, and I'm finishing my lunch. It's turned out warm again, but more humid than yesterday. I think I'll process some of those cooking apples (Bramleys) before I go back out into the garden.
