A Michigan salad is a type of green salad popular at restaurants in the Detroit area and other parts of Michigan. It is typically topped with dried cherries, blue cheese, and a vinaigrette dressing. Some recipes use dried cranberries instead of cherries, add other kinds of fruit such as apple or mandarin orange, omit or substitute the blue cheese, and/or add walnuts or pecans.

In Western Michigan, a Michigan salad might include grapes, sliced apples, and walnuts or pecans. It often will have a mayonnaise and mustard based dressing, rather than a vinaigrette.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I'd never heard of Michigan salad before , but it does sound interesting. So glad you had a lovely holiday!

Today is a bank holiday , so a slower start. DH has announced his intention to declutter his wardrobe and drawers today. I have plenty of bin bags and dusters for him to use! It's a sunny, but chilly (5C) start, and we're only forecast to reach 13 C today. Maybe the Ice Saints have decided to pay an early visit?

Steps to take to find a replacement: ask friends, look on local sources eg Nextdoor for recommendations
I may have to split the jobs between different people this year if I can't find someone who's good at a variety of skills, so:
For gutter cleaning, Dneighbours R and A used Ben's gutters -are they pleased with the work? Chatted to R yesterday -yes they are pleased, also said that BG seem to be here a lot on our neighbourhood 😀
Does BG also clean cladding? Do they have a website? Yes to both 😀
Also The E Gutter Cleaners -they have good reviews😀
Prepare my "job spec" WIP
Fill in free quote forms for both the above companies
Wait and see the results!
Kitchen tap - DF E has given me the phone number of her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?
Garage gutter -probably something for a handyman - text /message a few likely people. Does Dneighbour R2 do handyman type jobs? I know he's done work for Dneighbour R in the past, but that was larger jobs, like laying a path!

Book an appointment !
Take up and hem those thick winter curtains for the kitchen
Book eye test for me
Find picture hanging equipment for DH
Sort prints and put in albums (this will probably be an activity to do on wet days!) WIP I am now working on 2024
Think about setting up Guardianship for F,J and M - looked on Cats' Protection, I need their microchip numbers, approximate DOB, colour and markings and useful information about them. Bookmark link with local recommended solicitors (also ask DF CW?)
Change health centres to the one nearest us? On hold ATM , but I'll leave it on my list so I don't forget.

trissie, I have heard of that salad! I do really like that kind of salad, but I'd forgotten it was called a Michigan salad. We Michiganders are proud of our cherry farms in the north of our state, so for me, the dried cherries are essential!!
Ooh - dh is decluttering his clothes. WTG being active outside, Kitty.

It's a little late but I went to bed at midnight. I got a notice a little after 10 pm that I had created a passkey to my Amazon account. It was dated May 5. :? Nope - that wasn't me. So, I immediately deleted it, changed my password, checked for any passkeys in my apple cloud, alerted dh and the girls about what I had done - they use my account too, signed out and told them to do the same. This morning, I checked google for passkeys too. I don't use passkeys, and I don't store passwords for important websites. Ergh.

Today will be a full day if I accomplish what I hope to accomplish. I'll leave the house at 10:30, visit Mom, and then just go in to payroll. I should have an hour to work on payroll stuff before the instructor meeting at 1 pm. Then, I'll teach 1:40 - 3:30, go home, go for a jog and pick up a few items from WF. I think that will be my day. I might get a bit done for Mom, like get her registered so she can have a patient portal, finish her dental paperwork, and/ or check on days transportation is available.

It rained ALL DAY yesterday. It is still gray and wet right now, but the forecast says there will be sunshine this afternoon and a high of 68*F. It is 51*F now.

What kind of bank holiday is it today, kittykatt?
helia, I was thinking of your when I picked today's salad! :-)
L.Ann, is Lil'Bit's birthday coming up?

It's cold here today as well. I am kinda behind on the weather, so after the gorgeous sunny days of last week, I left home in a short sleeved shirt and a thin cardigan. Not exactly enough in the morning 4C, and not even for the afternoon 13C! :-)
Oh well, that tends to happen to me, I dress for yesterday's temperatures unless I really think about it.
Home from work. I'm gonna fix myself a hot cup of tea and then get started!

TaDas
- morning madness
- everybody in respective places on time
- day at work, moderately successful
- quickie Tesco trip
- pick up DBD from school
- load of lights delay started, washed, flipped to dryer
- load of cleaning rags started
- some personal time to refocus

ToDos
- morning routine
- 30 on upstairs cleaning
- fold load from dryer

I've done that too re: not dressing for the weather trissie. I hope the cup of tea warms you up a bit.
WTG on the walking, L Ann. Whoa - how old is Little Bit turning? 4?

Well, my day isn't going as planned. I couldn't get my stuff together in time to visit Mom before payroll. It's too late now bc she has lunch at 11:30. SO, I'll visit her en route home from payroll. She'll probably be asleep but I'll just stop by. I'll plan on a longer visit tomorrow morning before the KSJ get together.
