Sagnarelli are a type of ribbon pasta originating in the Abruzzo region of Italy. They are typically rectangular ribbons with fluted edges. Sagnarelli are usually served with a cream sauce and their sometimes uneven texture helps to hold thick sauces better.

Hmmm... I think I never had sagnarelli pasta, so there's something new to learn every day!

Have a good one at church, kittykatt, and I hope we will hear more about your lunch menu!
gma, sorry things are not going well right now. You really don't need more on your mind ATM! Re not having the strenght in your leg after being on crutches... unfortunately, you are up to a long recovery there :-( Terri broke her leg on February 20th, had a cast for 4 weeks and then no weight for another 2 weeks - so basically she's been allowed to walk on her foot since beginning of April, and she still doesn't know how to run. And she's only 12 and thus she regenerates quickly. It takes time and it's normal that it takes a lot of time, even if it is very frustrating :-(

I went MIA yesterday - we decided to go for a dinner outside and then pick my car (which I left at the train station on Friday night as I was meeting DH in the city). I think we haven't been out for dinner since at least December, maybe even last August? Without grandparents help, we can only rely on the three scout weekend trips, and the summer camp for evening entertainment, and during the Easter scout trip, we were just ordering pizza because of the renovating job we did in DBD's room.

Kids should be back in about two hours, There's been a hitch in scheduled transportation, so instead of a rented bus they are coming on the train, so we don't know the specifics. DH is working on putting in the baseboards in DBD's room (which we didn't have when we installed the carpet), I've already been busy with a lot of this and that, so am only stopping by after midday.

Hi there, flying by to say hi

Kinda went MIA, but: It shows I'm back here, even if I won't even half ass it.

My berry patch is done, clover and grass sowed. Moved to the potato patch, did an hour and already got the greens out. Tommorrow I'll get the surface roots (nettle and such) and mark the field and DH will dig it up.

First lol is done, washing our work pants now. Mt Washmore is getting smaller, unfortunately I still struggle to start with Mt Foldmore.

Got a new plug for the sink today (it didn't hold the water anymore), so there's pots and pans in my future. But first: bake rhubarb (own yard) and oatmeal cookies for inlaws for 3 pm. Invited them on our terrasse :) to enjoy our little garden with us and the progress we're making this year.

Had a great 3day seminar, a nice third birthday of my DNephew and I got groceries yesterday. DH sold his old, broken chainsaw.

Progress is made :)

trissie, yay for scout trips that allow you time as a couple ! (We can't rely on grandparents either, and no scout activity for our kids) I wonder what the "average "number of date nights parents can have monthly or yearly  For us it's zero. I was hoping MrNG would agree to enrol both kids at a week-long summer camp at the end of July, but DS6 doesn't seem to want to and MrNG didn't want to push too much.
WTG getting things dodne in the house while kids are gone.

Feathers, you seem to have done a lot. I hope you can enjoy your berries soon. We've had two big bowls of strawberries this past week, very tasty. Can the chainsaw be fixed by the persone who bought it?

Gma (( )) sorry it's all very busy and difficult right now. I hope you can keep your DDoggie going and happy, while not exhausting yourself.

kittykatt, thanks for the start. Never had sagnarelli, never saw them in the shops I visit, so this probably explains that. I hope you had a good time at church and a quiet Sunday.

Sunny morning, slow family breakfast, did this and that with many interruptions as the kids always seem to need an answer or some help with something... or they need help to sort a fight. DS9 will go to his DSchoolFriend A-- in the afternoon, his homework his mostly done. DS6 will have to be entertained, not sure how. MrNG is planting things, his baby butternut squash and some zucchini are already in the soil. Like every year he has too many plants, ... or too little space in our small garden :) . He will probably swap them online for a few plants of rarer varieties.

TADAs
lazy time in bed
breakfast all together
self-care time
time in garden while it's not too hot
some homework with DS9
a lol in - washer wouldn't work properly, no water - unplugged and replugged - and now it's fine
yesterday's lol folded, most of it put away
various little things

TODO
get lunch started, it's almost 1pm
small sewing thing on DS6's new black shorts
larger sewing project to adapt two large sheets on our couches for washable covers - sew little ribbons at corners to tie them on
enjoy the day, enjoy the time away from work
exercise for a while
time for letter to DF J-- ?
weekly list to review, next week's list to make

Yay for date night last night, trissie! Is the baseboard that last renovation to DBD's room? It must be so improved!
WTG with the walking already, L Ann.
I don't think I've ever had that pasta, Kitty. I hope church was lovely. Yes, waiting to hear your Sunday lunch menu!
Nice to see you Feathers. You're getting lots done and congratulations on your new nephew!
The start to your day sounded lovely, FFB. I hope you do enjoy your day away from work. What did you do for exercise?
Gma, I need to go back and see what is going on. ((HUGS))

Dh and I have been very fortunate to be able to regularly go on dates with each other, even when we had tiny babies and tots. We have never had family nearby, but we were very very fortunate to have had lovely friends in Austin, just like family, who would take our kids for an evening every 1-2 weeks (CK and EK). For a while, it was every Friday evening, which might be where we got our Friday evening date night. We also curated a small army of babysitters. Once we moved here, we just had to slowly build up our cache of babysitters. Luckily, we had church friends who were very generous in sharing names of their favorite sitters. Those recommendations were as valuable as gold!

I didn't get back here yesterday either. It was a busy day - not my favorite sort of Saturday. I was out of the house 10a.m. - 3 p.m. with a 20 minute interlude to grab a partial lunch. Then, I was out again 6:30 - 9:30 for CG1, which was very life-giving for me in the end. Our CG1 has 3 MDs in it, and they're all willing to help me as they can with my mom, as is friend R. They've offered to look at test results, give free consultation, and help me navigate the med system. I feel very supported. Dh also called me around 5:30. I think he's really enjoying being back in the NL and being with his sisters. The wedding livestream didn't work for me, unfortunately.

Today is sunny with temps in the low 60s. I will be out 10 - 12:45-ish for church this morning. Then, I think there is no Sunday dinner bc I don't feel like preparing a meal for 5 people by myself. But we might go out and get bubble tea afterward.

helia, I guess if we did the "usual way" of baby No. 1, then baby No. 2 two or three years later, and if we didn't live in the country, getting sitters would have been easier. However, you can't very well unload three kids under 2 onto a sitter unless they are very experienced, and you don't get an experienced sitter if you live in the middle of basically nowhere.
L.Ann, what is DD cooking for tha zoom class?
Frenchie, I think it very much depends on the grandparents, unfortunately. I've had a friend complain to me that her MIL is not very engaged, she "only picks up [the youngest] from daycare once a week!" Like, girl, I'm not sure that my mother picked up each of my kids from daycare once in the years they went there!
I bet your garden looks so nice, Feathers! We have rhubarb too, we've already had a rhubarb sheet cake two weeks ago :-)

I've brought kids home. Everything they had is wet and some of it muddy. There's always a price to pay for a free weekend! :-)

Good morning, friends!
Today is yard day. A friend posted a free frizzle rooster on fb yesterday and we are getting him today! I’m excited to have a friend for Tom Turkey. I hope they get along. Other than that we will be ride mowing the big yard, push mowing smaller areas that are fenced in, weeding, planting, all the outdoor things. Have a good day. 8-)
