Edmund Charles Tarbell (1862 – 1938) was an American Impressionist painter. A member of the Ten American Painters, his work hangs in many museums and private collections. Born, raised, and educated in and around the Boston, Massachusetts area, Tarbell was interested in the lives of the women who lived in the area. Tarbell was the leader of the Boston School, a group of artists who painted women in interior and exterior settings, usually active in mundane, domestic activities. Using impressionist techniques, they bring to life these seemingly dull activities with their lively brushstrokes. Tarbell concentrated on the world of upper-class women, depicting them elegantly in the latest fashions. These women exemplified the Boston Brahmin lifestyle.

I'm up early today, as Freddie goes to the vet for his annual blood test , his Solensia injection, a nail clip and a full physical exam, all under sedation. This year also includes x-rays on his hips, which I am anxious about, as the last time he had x-rays he woke up and attacked the vet when she tried to position his right (painful) hip. Since then, we have been allocated a different vet at the practice, who has used a different (deeper) sedation protocol, but since he doesn't have x-rays every year, this will be the first time it's been tried on this ! We have an appointment with "his" vet at 8.30 am to discuss this. The big challenge will be to get Freddie into his carrier, but fortunately I have DH to help today.

Success! Freddie is safely in his carrier with no injuries to anyone. Well just leave him quietly out of the way of The Girls, until it's time.to out him in the car. Even if I get nothing else done today, I have achieved!

We can't have coffee at the church afterwards this week, as there's a funeral, and they obviously don't want people chatting and laughing! Are we going to have coffee at the Mulberry Tree (community café) instead? Its only a short walk, and it would be a good chance to chat to them.about parish lunch at the end of June

Fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. Dneighbour R2 may fix?
Fix dripping kitchen tap (new washer ?)- DF E has given me the phone number of her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?
Take up and hem those thick winter curtains for the kitchen
Book eye test for me
Find picture hanging equipment for DH
Sort prints and put in albums (this will probably be an activity to do on wet days!) WIP I am now working on 2024
Think about setting up Guardianship for F,J and M - looked on Cats' Protection, I need their microchip numbers, approximate DOB, colour and markings and useful information about them. Bookmark link with local recommended solicitors (also ask DF CW?)
Change health centres to the one nearest us? On hold ATM , but I'll leave it on my list so I don't forget.

Back from the vets, having dropped Freddie off and had a good chat with "his" vet for today. Remembered to mention that the last time he attacked the vet was 2 years ago when he last had x-rays on his hips, specifically when his right hip was being positioned (he has hip displasia and arthritis there and it's painful). She's going to earn the team, and probably give him a little top up of ketamine just before they get to his hips.

Now I'm having a late breakfast, next I'll do the bins and have a few minutes in my front garden. It's raining, so I don't think I'll get much done outside today, but I'm hoping to get a good early start on my housework, as I'm probably going to get a lot of interruptions today!

Annnnd, Freddie is now back home. He's had a plateful of the GI wet food, and is now sleeping off his sedation. I don't think his health check has thrown up any surprises, although we'll have to wait for his blood test results, and the vet will be ringing me about his hips (she was called into surgery so couldn't chat when I picked him up.) I suspect either the arthritis in his right hip or his hip displasia has got worse, although his gait is still in pretty good, thanks to the Solensia.

DH's DF A arrived on the doorstep this morning -apparently DH "forgot" to tell me he would be coming round. I made them coffee and offered flapjack around, and then my phone rang and it was the vet , and I had to go and collect Freddie. When I came back with Freddie, A had left!
