to keep their shelves stocked. When I went there yesterday, I found the Foodhall to be well stocked, and I could get the chocolates I was looking for and a few other bits and pieces, but the clothing availability was rather patchy, so I'll order that online now online shopping is back. (I just need underwear, and I know exactly what size/style etc I need). so that's now on the list for today. We had a nice meal with DH's friends, although we were right by the door of the restaurant, so asked for it to be closed when the thunderstorm and torrential rain started. 
Fortunately the rain had eased by the time we drove home.

But, this week, they announced the first round of voluntary redundancies, and inviting people express an interest. This is *not* committing to anything at this stage, but DH has expressed an interest. Nothing is likely to happen before the autumn at the earliest, and possibly not until the new year. DH has said that if he doesn't get VR in the first round, then he will try again in the second round (and posts the third, fourth etc...) Financially we should be ok (we'll probably need to be a bit careful at least to begin with) and of course our routines will change (I'll admit this is going to be a bit difficult for me 
) but I'm not too worried about having him "under my feet all day" as a friend charmingly put it last night. For one thing, DH has plans for his retirement - things he wants to do, possibly some further study, clubs and activities would like to join ( he's a lot more outgoing socially than I am!). Plus, I can always find "activities" for him, such as clearing out the loft (it's almost all his stuff up there) if he gets bored! I don't think he'll want to help with the housework, and I'm ok with that, (he is well "trained " to pick up his "stuff" when I'm going to hoover / dust , he puts his clean and dirty clothes in the right places, and he can use the washing machine and dishwasher ) especially as he's a good cook and will probably be happy to take on more of the cooking. I did ask him whether he would like to take Freddie to some of his appointments for his arthritis injections, and the reply was "Not particularly". So no surprises there! How old is DBD now? ) and had 30 minutes in my tiny front garden, mostly deadheading roses that objected to the torrential rain overnight. I've also had to remove a very curious Matilda from a bumblebee that had somehow found his way inside. Will she never learn?! She was stung on the paw a couple of years ago from too close and interaction with a bumble bee. I know they're usually quite placid, but they definitely don't like being prodded and batted with a curious paw!
