Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for starting us off with another interesting river.
My dearly loved childhood teddy bear that I was given as a baby was called "Guinea" . I have a black and white picture of the table holding my christening cake and she is sitting. next to the cake! My grandfather had insisted I had what he called "proper" teddy bear , so he might have named her that because she cost a Guinea . For those unfamiliar with pre decimal British money, a Guinea was a pound + a shilling. (There were 20 shillings to the pound, and 12 pence to the shilling.)
Enjoy the weekend away, L.Ann. I'm sure Little Bit will always be Little to you, no matter how big she gets!
WTG with you pantry, Gma. I think the difference between the professional organiser and you is that because it's not her "stuff" she has no emotional attachment to any of it, which makes the process quicker (Of course you do t ha e attachment to cans of beans, but I'm thinking of things like some papers, photos, clothes etc), which can make the process longer and more difficult.
Helian, podiatrists are great! Mine have really made a difference. When you get you appointment it might be a good idea to take all the shoes you usually wear with you, not just your running shoes, so he/ she can check them over and make recommendations based on the needs of your feet. According to the vet, when cats's gums heal after surgery they eventually harden or "granulated" so they can eventually eat anything, even dried food. In fact dried food was DDeparted Trifle's preference!)
Bama, WTG with your progress. I think the reason no one had ever mentioned Trifle's biting at the vets was, to quote one terrified nurse, "her feet are her weapons". So being pinched hard when she bit with no teeth didn't seem anything in comparison. I have to confess I'm positively luxuriating having a cat who is easy and "normal". It's quite a novelty being asked to book Matilda's post op check up appointment, rather than being told "ring us if you're worried" (as was the case with Trifle, and still is with Freddie!)
Yesterday was full but lovely. I managed to leave home with enough time to hoover the car and walk down to the vets to drop off the chocolates before church. Trissie was right, and the church being a stone building with thick walls was beautifully cool. After a lovely service for Corpus Christi, we had coffee and cake, and then I met DH at the College for a very nice lunch together.
Then, he went off on the train to Exmouth for the work social event, and I went home to the cats. Fred and Jude are feeling the heat a bit, but Matilda is recovering well, eating enthusiastically (mostly wet food still, but she insists on a little biscuit already) and when she yawned I was able to check some of her mouth, and, as far as I can tell, she is healing nicely with nothing untoward. She also wanted to snuggle again in bed last night, which is a very good sign.
I did a few little admin things and then it was time for my Waitrose delivery. Once that was all PA I decided it was cool enough to power wash the car. I was "helped" by L 11 to, who thought it was the most fun "ever"! G12 yo was Not Allowed to join in the fun, as according to DF CW, her behaviour yesterday was so appalling and she had been so rude to her mother and had also refused to tidy her bedroom, come off the swing when asked etc that DF CW felt sanctions were the only way forward. Of course G was not happy with this and expressed her displeasure loudly, but still refused to either apologise or tidy her bedroom, or ask for help with doing the latter, so CW stood firm. Anyway, L had a great time, and was especially thrilled when Iet get use the powerwasher (it's battery powered, so quite safe). I finally sent her home at 9 pm very happy soaking wet! Her Mum, of course , knew where she was and what she was doing and I think was probably relieved L was off her phone and doing something productive!
And finally, I watered my pots in the garden and did a little deadheading, when it was still light enough to see what I was doing, and beautifully cool.
Today is supposed to be very hot again (30C +). I want to do something in my garden (probably front garden this morning and back garden in the evening to take advantage of the shade. I also need to catch up on the house - I never got around to dealing with the paperwork yesterday and upstairs could do with PUPA and dusting. The laundry will need to be folded and PA when it's dry and I also need to do the wool /delicate wash. And, most importantly, remember Matilda's anti inflammatory before bed!
