Well I didn't know anything about Scarlet Witch actually, it was ChatGPT's idea.I will try and be a super heroine today as we organize DS6's birthday party - he will be 7 in two weeks but there is only 1 week of school left, so we invited his 2 school friends today. Yes I know, only 2 guests... That was DS6's decision.
Busy this past week (but mostly bored), glad the payroll week was uneventful. House to catch up on, and the party. And yesterday night we had the street party with neighbours : most of them being retired, it was more a dinner than a party. Warm weather, good food, too many desserts : a nice time. We got to talk with the people who live in front of her house that we almost never see, so it was a good thing.

Good morning, FFB, and thank you for the start. The street party sounded lovely -how nice that you're getting to know the neighbours. A treasure hunt sounds very exciting for DS6's party, and hopefully two little guests will be easier to manage and occupy than a whole horse of them!

I slept late this morning, because I could ! I did a lot in my garden yesterday, and planted all the plants that somehow managed to jump into my basket at the garden centre (they're mostly geraniums to go in pots along the fence. A couple that I bought back in April haven't done very well, for some reason)

So, today, I need to catch up on the house, and do the things I didn't do yesterday. I also want to have a good session in my front garden, as that got overlooked yesterday, and that needs to be done fairly early before the sun gets there. And I also need to do my cooking/ baking before the sun streams I to the kitchen, so that will leave late afternoon/ evening to potter in the back garden (always assuming Dnextdoorneighbour D isn't having one of her noisy parties!)

Good morning ladies. We left the boat yesterday. I did write a post but it must have gotten lost trying to submit without adequate internet. It was a great boat week. We are now in Shrewsbury for a bit of the day and heading to next stop that I can't remember.

We were ready 2 hours early but we convinced ourselves we could leave at 2 instead of 12. We should have left at 12. We got the goodwill pick up but didn't get to stop for food. Lots of traffic and construction made us very late. Got to airport and through security and walked to our gate 10 minutes before boarding. Luckily they fed us dinner on plane because we were hungry.

Uti resolved in about 4 days, with pain pills and cystex it was fine weather was good only a bit of rain a couple times. We enjoyed Ellesmere, Chester and Whitchurch and just hanging on the boat. Shopped at Tesco and Aldi and cooked a lot on boat. Got fish and chips first night, Cameron hated it, made him sick next day. I thought the fish was good but greasy, chips were awful.

Airbnbs have been OK. First one had a terrible shower we couldn't get off scalding we were there 2 nights. So showers were wet fast, turn off, soap, rinse fast. I would worry about a child using it. Dh got it to a usable but uncomfortable hot. This one now is just a hotel type room. Nice big bath but it is a handicapped accessible bathroom with 2 sinks, one tall and one short and a wheel chair shower and red emergency cords in both except it is a 2 flight set of narrow stairs and no elevator. This makes no sense. It has a queen and a single. It claims a King but it is a queen. It has a fridge which was good. We are going to the castle and Abbey then exploring on way to next destination. Tomorrow we go to Alton Tower amusement park, then head to outside London for 2 nights (Sunday and Monday) and spend Monday in London. Then we head to Stratford upon Avon Tuesday for the day and night then head to Liverpool Wednesday and Wednesday night, then head to Manchester on Thursday to a hotel so we fly out Friday morning.

Trissie we were surprised by the early packing too. My husband is a professional traveler and super organized.

Haven't caught up on posts recently other than to see ffb, son is about to have a birthday. We noticed kids were still in school here has well. Do you all go year round or get July and August off? We were out 3rd week of May but go back very beginning of August sometimes very end of July. First Monday where August 1st falls.

Kk, we once had the worse case of fleas and the cats had to be dipped at the vet and our house was treated and everything was sprayed.

My turn in shower. We check out in 30 minutes.

I'm glad you're having a great time in England, and that the weather is (mostly) cooperating , CL. I'm sure you'll be enjoying Stratford-upon-Avon. Will you be able to see a production on of one of Shakespeare's plays? Fish and chips can be hugely variable in quality. They're often very good in a fishing town (which makes sense!), pub fish and chips can range from amazing to terrible, as can the fish and chips shops. Generally, if there's a long queue outside, then it's probably good. Also, asking someone local where they would recommend often works well.

Here in Devon, the private schools have either finished for the summer, or finish next week. The state schools have another 2-3 weeks to go, and then that's it for everyone until the first week of September.

I think the difference between the king and Queen bed is a cultural thing. Over here, a King sized is 5 ft wide (I think that would equal your Queen sized bed?). Anything larger would usually be called "super king" over here.

I've tidied up downstairs, dusted the sitting room and run the hoover round, and done LOL. I need to hang this up, and start the next LOL before I go outside.

CL, awesome, you're in Europe ! I remember eating very different types of fish and chips in the UK, some were just delicious and otherones, not really. As kittikatt says, the best way to know a great placec to eat is see how many people are queuing to buy from them ! Here, we have one more week of school then it starts again the first week of September.

kittykatt, are you having the same heatwave we're having? Worst days should be Sunday and Monday. You're totally right, only two guests is good. As MrNG said to me 10 minutes ago "relax, you know, some families have four kids all the time!" - yes, I grew up in one of those families. So, we should be OK, and DS9 is going to play or read quietly some times during the afternoon, so only 3 kids.

We've had lunch, I'm having coffee before going back to last minute cleaning, preparing the table with a few sweets, and the games.
