Health and Fitness August 2025

Post by Lady Maverick »

Posting a day early in my time zone, but hopefully it will align with DSHE in other time zones.

I am excited about the possibilities of health & fitness maintenance and improvements in August.

A local group is doing a 28-day challenge starting August 4th. Hum....I do love a challenge but would prefer it to be me vs me.

What are you doing for the month of August for your health & fitness?

Thank you for starting this new thread, Lady M! I'm going to continue with my pelvic floor exercises and drinking my water. The first I was successful with last month, but it needs to be a "habit for life" so I want to keep the accountability. The second was better than if I hadn't been tracking, but still needs to improve!

August Health & Fitness habit to focus on =
Daily steps over 6K. This step count is quite low compared to others, but I am focusing on comparing myself last month to myself this month. I seek to do better than i did last month. Tracking my steps is already done in established habits below.

I like to think I would keep track and monitor my established habits without sharing them, but experience has shown me that I do better when I hold myself accountable in this thread.
Established healthy habits =
__Sleep = 6hr 46min average over last 30 days. Goal is 7-9 hours
⭐Hydration = 120oz+
⭐Food logging = 392 days logging
__ Calories = 1357 over 30-day average. Goal is =>1200
__ Protein = 34% over 30 average. Goal is >40%
** Move & strengthen my body
__ Steps = 5550 average over the last 30 days. Goal is <6k.
⭐10 hours of moving my body over the last 30 days. Goal is >=10in

Eeeek! That doesn’t look great when I post it like that. I’ve been doing well with 3 of the 7 established habits. There’s plenty of room for improvement.

Hi, Kittykatt and LadyM. Congrats on successes and consistency.

I kept my circular habit tracker Daily Dozen for the whole month of July. My best days were at 19 out of 24 daily checkmarks and I had several 18s, quite a few 17s. I averaged 1.5 servings of greens each day and more than 1 serving of beans daily. Weight has stabilized and I'm content. I stayed within just a couple pounds all month, so that's a relief, with appetite good again, and dr stopped nagging, lol. I would normally think, lets lose a few pounds, but dr says oh no you don't, so I'm tasked with keeping it stable only. In general, the tracker looks more colorful later in the month, with more flair marker checks as the month wore on, so I want to do this again for August and try to keep the new page bright. Back to cooking for myself more.

I am testing if my body will tolerate fermented flour (sourdough) without it causing inflammation and drastic weight gain. Yesterday I made & ate sourdough pizza crust without it affecting me. Was that a fluke?

Good morning every one, happy August !
Thanks for starting the monthly thread. I wish I was able to post daily. I've done well in July, and the new habit of strength training daily was mostly successful in the end.
I-ve managed to find events in the day where I can add some strength training and it works (as you suggested, LadyM).
I've (again) forgotten my daily pelvic floor exercise habit, I can't make it stick, after months of wworking on it, if I don't post here regularly. What is so special with this habit that it doesn't stick to my brain ? I need to find a better habit trigger than "when getting into bed" since I usually have other thing son my mind at the time I get to bed.

Daily floss : ☑☑
Daily pelvic floor habit : ☑
Daily strength training :☑☑

I intend to add one "checked box" later today, for each habit

FrenchFlybebe - You reminded me that I need to do kegels exercises too. I'm working on setting up a trigger to remind me to do pelvic floor exercises. I've started an experiment to see if it helps. I placed two small containers next to my chair—one holds 20 items. Every time I sit down and complete a set of Kegel exercises, I move one item to the other container. I do like the visual progress of this tracking method. Will it help establish the habit? I'm not sure yet, but I'll test it out.

Healthy & Fitness habits =
__ Sleep = 6hr 45min average in August. Goal is 7-9 hours
⭐ Hydration = 120oz+
⭐ Food tracking = 394 days logging
⭐ Calories = 1269 average in August. Goal is <1300
__ Protein = 36% average in August. Goal is >40%
⭐ Fruit/Vegetable servings = 7 average daily in August Goal is =>5
⭐ Steps = 6868 average in August. Goal is >6k.
⭐ Hours of moving my body = 11 hours a day average in August. Goal is =>10
⭐ Weight change -0.8 in August
